Slickdeals.net always has links for great deals on TVs last week there were multiple 42 inch 720ps for 4xx at reputable stores. If you can wait a good deal will pop up eventually
both those TVs are pretty 'meh' IMO, you don't really need 1080 on a 40" set, plus you're dealing w/ 60hz models. unless you're putting it in a very bright room, i would much rather have this TV: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Panasonic+-+VIERA+42%22+Class+/+1080p+/+600Hz+/+Plasma+HDTV/9761059.p?id=1218168620157&skuId=9761059&st=viera&cp=1&lp=1
Anytime I've ever had a 120Hz model with the "motion" tech turned on, it just seems really creepy and weird. The way bodies move and all that.
which is a good reason to go plasma. a 600 hz plasma looks much more natural than any LCD IMO. again, unless you have a bright room, i wouldn't take those TVs over that plasma deal.
For that size/price range I would go plasma. But if you want LCD, I don't think you can go wrong with either model
i was picking between these exact two earlier this year. i went with the samsung and it's been great so far
I've got a 40" Panasonic Viera in my bedroom (720p plasma, usually only watch it at night when it's dark) and a 46" Vizio in my living room (1080p LCD, since my living room is brighter and it's bigger). I love them both. Can't go wrong with either of your two choices, but like others have said definitely look at the Viera too.
i have a 720p Viera too ... looks better than most of my friend's 1080p LCDs IMVHO. if you like sports, i cannot stress the benefits of plasma enough ...
according to CNNmoney.com By the end of this month, LCD TV prices will be about 5% lower than they were at the same time last year, according research firm DisplaySearch. But a tailspin will start in October: In the last three months of the year, the firm forecasts that prices will keep falling until they bottom out at 12% below 2009 levels. http://shopping.yahoo.com/articles/yshoppingarticles/434/flat-screen-tv-prices-to-plunge-for-holiday-season/
Pulling this thread back from the dead so I don't start another. Current plasma is a 42" Samsung, 60 hz (sick of this) and almost 4 years old, had some pixels go out and slight burn in. Getting a phone call this week to see what they will offer to buy me out of my warranty (not expecting much but would love a big number), so probably going to jump on a TV sale going on sometime soon. Been looking at TV's and man I feel so behind the game in just a few years of not shopping them. Would love some help with what to get. First thing - Plasma v. LCD v. LCD-LED I will have a decently lit room, but nothing crazy and with having the plasma gotten used to any reflection it comes with. I know nothing about LCD-LED other than the prices are higher I'm seeing online. Not interested in going 3D right now. What I want: 120+ Hz. I honestly can't tell much of a difference above 120 when I look at the store/other people's TVs. I am looking 50-55 inches, so 1080P since it's big enough, and have a budget of $1000-1300 (would love to bargain them under that as well though). Most of the TV's are in this range so I figure I can get what should be good. I like Samsung alot, but can move while sticking with the big boys : Samsung, Sony Bravia, or Panasonic Viera. Some I've been looking at you can shoot down or say aren't bad: *Panasonic - VIERA / 50" Class / 1080p / 600Hz / Plasma HDTV $899 Really like this one for the price, know nothing about the brand/TV http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Panasonic+-+VIERA+/+50%22+Class+/+1080p+/+600Hz+/+Plasma+HDTV/9786054.p?skuId=9786054&id=1218174065119 *Sony - BRAVIA 55" Class / 1080p / 120Hz / LCD HDTV $1393 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Sony+-+BRAVIA+55%22+Class+/+1080p+/+120Hz+/+LCD+HDTV/9763163.p?id=1218170031467&skuId=9763163 *Samsung - 55" Class / 1080p / 120Hz / LCD HDTV $1399 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+-+55%22+Class+/+1080p+/+120Hz+/+LCD+HDTV/9784144.p?id=1218173775639&skuId=9784144
Go to best buy and see what they have out of the box. Make sure it comes with a remote though. It will still have the warranty... I would go LED aquos quatron if they have these. Make sure to get one that has internet on it also.
Here is a Samsung 50" 1080p plasma for $799. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16889102369&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL112210&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL112210-_-EMC-112210-Index-_-PlasmaTV-_-89102369-L012B
Wow that is a nice Samsung. Does Best Buy/Other stores match off newegg? That is if I can find that in the store? Also I love that I currently have the 4 year warranty, only reason I'm getting some money for my current one. Is the longest warranty you can get on newegg 1 year? Also forgot to mention, I have internet on the blu-ray with netflix, so not as necessary to have a TV with internet in it.
your current plasma is not 60Hz, plasma's are native 600Hz, even the earliest versions. oh, and if you are not putting it in a REALLY bright room go plasma, way more bang for the buck, and very few drawbacks, unless a razor thin tv is high on your list. *read better the second time, of your choices go with the Panasonic, they don't offer internet etc, but the screen is as good as it gets I have had a 42" viera for 3 years and it is still great.
I'm not sure about price matching options. Is there a reason you don't want to get it online? Not too sure about the warranty with newegg either. I've been looking for a 50"+ for a couple months now and still not sure what I want to go with. I just found that deal...I think it will be around for about another 2 days.
My roommate is moving out and I need to get a TV for the living room b/c he is taking his with him. I was thinking about a 46" panasonic 1080p I saw on black friday for $500. I don't know a ton about TV's but wanted to see what anyone thought. Any advice/other suggestions?
Tons of discussion about the black friday tv deals here: http://www.the-mainboard.com/forum/index.php/topic,74382.0.html
Yeah I'm really looking at that Samsung you posted and the Panasonic Viera at Best Buy. Need to go see it in person. As for why I don't want to buy it online, it's really about the warranty. The reason I'm even having this discussion is because my last plasma had a line of pixels go out (at the bottom not too noticeable) so I'm getting some money back to buy me out of my warranty instead of replacing the TV. It's been 3 1/2 years and it was a 4 year warranty, so in a few months I could be left with a TV worth nothing when I want to upgrade. I also had one part replaced on the inside that would have left me SOL without a warranty, which is why I want one for more than 1 year.
I'm looking for the best TV for 500$. I don't care if it has internet. I'd like one bigger than 32'' and a good picture. I'm a college kid FWIW.
42" Samsung, or Panasonic 720p plasma's are anywhere from $450-$500 anywhere you look, if you insist on 1080p, you can get a 32" for about the same, however under 42" 1080p v. 720p is negligible.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Panasonic+42%22+Class+HDTV+and+Blu-ray+Home+Theater+Package/9999142700050003.p?skuId=9999142700050003&id=pcmprd142700050003 Looks like a good deal to me. Whatcha think? I need a new TV and figure the bluray player and sound wouldn't be too bad to have either.
another very satisfied Samsung LCD owner. I prob will not go to another vendor barring extenuating circumstances. also very happy with my LG monitors which i believe is a cross developement/based off/designed with samsung
Some decent deals from newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16889005157 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16889102401
At 32" is LED worth buying? Wanting to buy two 32" (maybe 40 not sure yet) for the two bedrooms. Recently bought a 55" samsung UN55C8000 and returned it for the UN55C6800 because I figured I didn't want/need 3D. Would like to buy two of the 32" Samsung UN32C6500 (below) to match. Anyone have experience with these? Going to have my PS3 hooked up to the one in our bedroom for Netflix if possible (already have netflix on the blu-ray in the living room)...can I use the same Netflix account for two different tvs? http://hhgregg.com/ProductDetail.asp?SID=n&ProductID=37421
If you're trying to spend that much there are a lot better options. Look at the two I just posted right above you.
Not wanting to go over 40" for these in the bedroom. Not really trying to spend that much just figured I'd stick with relatively the same tv as I already bought. Not paying quite the price listed there. I'm buying it from HHGregg but the salesman is a friend and is giving a small discount
Also does anybody know shit about soundbars with a wireless sub? Reviews are varied as hell and kind of put me off to them but I like how they keep cords and extra speakers from being all over the place. Impossible to go in wall or ceiling in my living room. My aunt has a soundbar/sub setup that is pretty decent (I'm not looking for audiophile type stuff just good sound) but I can't remember what it is and it is several years old.
I would just get the LCD at 32. I do love my LED, but I'm not sure if 32 is big enough, and you can get 2 LCDs for just a little bit more than one of those LEDs.
One netflix account will stream to as many devices as you can get, you can actually even stream to more than one device at the same time.
If I went against the LED route I would probably have to go with Sony or LG as I don't really like the 32" Samsung LCD. Guess it doesn't really matter all that much to keep the same brand when they are in different rooms...just figured as far as use/setup it would be easier. If I go LCD I'll probably go up to 40" and get something like this http://hhgregg.com/ProductDetail.asp?SID=n&ProductID=24438#page damn looking at that again I just don't know if I want the extra 3 inches of depth
not true, i think the max is 8. i gave mine out to a ton of friends and then one day it said it was maxed out.
