Are TLC's good TV? I've seen them mentioned here Searching for a 65" TV. Don't know much after 4k, UHD.
Depends on the series, but yes, TCLs are good entry level tv's they use a Roku interface too which is a major plus.
I don't think I really want to spend 1500-2000 for a top of the line TV that some want ITT. Maybe they are the LG C9 or something. Maybe, but doubtful. Looks like from scanning this thread, the 2019 models should be going on sale soon if they haven't already. I'd like to spend like 700-900. Best value. Also, I have YTTV so if it comes prebuilt with a roku type interface I don't have to use a chromecast behind it, which would be a plus for the main TV.
Then yes a TCL would be a good option for you. I'm like you, I want a nice TV but have no need for a top of the line OLED so I went with a TCL and have absolutely no complaints.
Yeah like Wu said the TCL 6 series is for you. I would go that route or see if a Samsung Q series (60,70) falls into your price range. Basically all tv's have YTTV apps now. Roku certainly handles it best. In my experience it's Roku>>>>>>>>>>>>LG webOS (Might be because the processor in the C9 is top of the line)> FireTV> Samsung's OS.
Honestly probably not. The 6 series consistently competes with them. The TCL carrying Dolby Vision is a plus too as more studios are going to it instead of HDR10(+) and both are QLED's (more color spectrum). I started my hunt in the Q60 space and ended up with a C9 (It's amazing, but don't do that).
TCL is going to be hard to beat in terms of value. Roku smart TV OS is as good as it gets since the Fire TV UI is a train wreck. I’m sure the OS isn’t going to have as long of an update life as a dedicated Roku box/stick though. If you can find a Samsung or another higher end brand on sale that would be better if you already have a dedicated streaming device. Most Samsungs these days also have Airplay built in, which is pretty nice if you have any Apple equipment.
FWIW Costco has the 65” six series in store for $499. If I only had a vehicle big enough to bring it home.
Where Eagles Dare About 3 weeks in to this one, looks great. Using a NVIDIA Shield to run plex, haven't tried the native O.S. or native chromecast but the picture is phenomenal
From my experience they will but they won’t touch anything like the warranties that Costco tends to offer with the tv.
Does Best Buy match the prices of a Warehouse club? Yes. We do match the prices of Warehouse clubs as long as the Warehouse club is a local retail competitor, has an identical immediately available product and all other price match criteria are met. If the Warehouse club website price requires a membership ID or login to view, price match is only available in a Best Buy store (not via phone or chat) and must be a live offer (not a screenshot).
I've got 500ish bucks to spend on a tv for the patio. Was planning on buying a 55 but if I can get a 65 for the money even better. Love my vizios for inside but for the patio i think I want something with roku. TCL the way to go? I've been a fan in the past. Going to check costco for the old 6 series and will probably settle on the 4 series if costco is out.
I got a TCL 65'' 65R615 model over Christmas. Feel like I stole it for $499 from best buy. I've been very happy with it.
Got the 65 inch tcl for 499. Very happy they had it. Question.. Do extended warranties cover water damage?
Generally no, They cover failures in electronics not caused by outside forces. Most don't don't even cover power surges.
I love my TCL 6 Series. Got it for the bedroom and have been itching to replace the living room Vizio M I bought in 2015 with a TCL with Roku. Love the interface and remote.
Costco has the 65 inch Vizio M series for 499. Just went on sale. Appears to have slightly better ratings than the tcl. Interface is dog shit but I can get a roku stick. Can't decide if I want to take the tcl back for it.
Bought it from Best Buy a month ago for $599....bummer. Works and looks great IMO, have it hooked up to a NVIDIA Shield but I've messed around the with the native apps and it's performed admirably. Very happy with it overall...RTINGS compares it favorably to the TCL 6 Series and the Samsung equivalent, just how important is the native Roku interface to you? Wasn't to me
It's not important at all inside.. I have two vizios that I have other stuff hooked up to. The roku is nice on the patio so I don't need anything else plugged in/connected.
Did you mount it? Mounted my 6 series tonight. The holes are super low on the back of my tv. Fucking thing is wayy too high on my fireplace. Looks terrible. Really don't want to put a new mount up on my brick fireplace. I'm looking into vesa adapter plates. May just end up going in my bedroom and my old 55 inch Vizio will go to the patio.
Do the brackets not allow adjustments? I think my mounting brackets could change tv placement by a foot overall.
Brackets move but they are already as low as they can go. Can move way higher but that's not helpful.
You want the brackets to be high as possible unless your mount or my understanding is wrong. for example my brackets have the screws at about the highest point possible. This brings the top of the tv closer to my top mounting rail, lowering the tv
My bad. I was confused... They are as high as possible. Going to just move the mount tomorrow. I'll drop it a couple feet and it should be fine.
Weird question here. Kids are getting bigger, so we're sort of reshuffling the house. I'm thinking about buying an under 32" TV for the room that's really the home office. It's only about 12x15, so I don't need anything big. As a plus, would be cool for it to be possible to use as a computer monitor when needed. I'd like it ideally to be under $350. Any ideas? There are lots of chinese options I don't know anything about, but our main TV is a Hisense 4k 60" that I've never been really happy with (after it replaced an LG plasma). TIA.
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/tcl-43...d-tv-with-hdr-roku-tv/6358904.p?skuId=6358904 smallest 4k I can find. If you want smaller they get cheap as hell. I’d stay in the TCL lane.
Nice. For some reason, I was at BB website like 30 min ago and that didn't turn up. I was hoping TCL, etc., had a 32" series. I'm guessing 4k won't be a big deal on that small of a screen/room?
I have a 2017 LG TV 4K TV. Baby broke the remote. Any recommendations for a universal remote? Not ready for a full upgrade yet.
