I do now because TV manufacturers are a pain in the ass to deal with. First HDTV I ever bought was a shitty, 30" Philips CRT. Like $700-800 at Best Buy back in 2005 I think. Didn't get the warranty. Like day 31 it starts having issues (don't even remember what they were now) so I have to deal with Philips and the manufacturer's warranty. Pretty decent experience there, call their service center, they get an appointment set up where someone comes out to take a look at the TV and takes it away to a repair shop if that's what is needed. Ended up being the case, they take it away, about 2 week estimated turnaround time. Sucks but it's covered under the warranty so whatever. 2 weeks goes by and nothing. I wait 3 then call. Say the main board (coincidence? I think not...) needs to be replaced and it's on order from somewhere in Asia. I ask when that's going to be in and they have no idea. At this point I'm talking to Philips' people and people at the actual repair shop they sent it to and no one has a clue when it's going to be in. Wait another week with no word from anyone and call again, at this point they've known it was the main board for 4 weeks and they still don't a) have the part or b) know when it's coming in. Getting pissed now, just bought this TV for about $800 and I was able to watch and enjoy it for as long as it's been in the shop. Start asking customer service people if the boat the part was coming on sunk. I think week 5 was when I broke and went apeshit on people and got the BBB involved (second time using the BBB and I was only 19 at the time). At that point I went out and bought a new HDTV (some $1500 Sony 34" CRT HDTV I got open-box for $750 because of a mistake ) knowing I was either getting a new TV from them (which I'd then sell) or getting a refund check. Ended up getting my refund check about 90 days after I initially bought the TV after only being able to watch it for about 30. Had a 2-year warranty from Best Buy on that open-box 34" which never had to be used (ended up selling it to a friend's grandparents) and then my next HDTV was a 47" LCD from Best Buy and I got the 4-year warranty. 3 1/2 years into that there was a problem with the TV, called Best Buy, they sent someone out who looked at it and said the panel needed replaced and he'd put the part on order, get a call a week later that they no longer have those parts and they gave me a replacement code. Went into local Best Buy with my busted 47" TV, got a $900 credit (paid $1,200 for it 3 1/2 years ago) towards my current 50" plasma which I got another 4-year warranty on. At this point it's just like an upgrade plan to me. 3 years down the line I'm sure there will be something I can point out as wrong with my TV and I'll get another upgrade to brand new technology for a couple hundred bucks. Cliffs: - I get warranties because TV manufacturer's are assholes - Best Buy warranty is basically a 3-3.5 year upgrade plan
http://hhgregg.com/ProductDetail.asp?SID=n&ProductID=37142 My dad bought this one and gave me his two year old 42" panasonic viera... the LG looks great....have to get entertainment center remade to fit the 42" but it's worth it
I don't, there is an implied warranty of merchantability in anything you buy, basically as long as you use it for the exact purpose it was made for they would rather replace it than have you file a lawsuit against them, it's just a pain because they will do everything to try to get out of it. Buying the warranty basically gets you a replacement without having to go through the hassell of causing a ruckus for the company.
Thinking about this one as well, so very curious to how it is. Also, been told a site like tweaktv.com is good for calibrating right when you get it.
Decided not to get the 46" with the PS3 and GT5. Some mediocre reviews on that TV series from Sony (it's about an 8 month old line at least) and I'm not paying $1,300 for mediocre when my 50" Panasonic plasma is so good. Called Best Buy (have the card through them) and was able to get an increase without even talking to a person... kinda weird but cool. Now just looking for the best 55" I can get my parents for Christmas (and it should cover a few more holidays/birthdays...lol) for around $1,500. Probably just end up going around looking at open box deals in Best Buy's with my dad.
Looks like i'm gonna be allowed to open it up on delivery before I sign so that if there is anything wrong I can send it back right there.
Best Buy was selling 46 inch 120 hz HDTV's with a blu ray player for like 800...deal might be over ? Thats a hell of a deal though
what do you guys think of this deal? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0036WT3HA/ref=asc_df_B0036WT3HA1338308?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=pg-497-01-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395093&creativeASIN=B0036WT3HA Samsung LN26C350 26-Inch 720p 60 Hz LCD HDTV for $300
Target had/has a 26" 720p Vizio LED for right around $200 I would look to see if that is still available. *Just checked, I no longer see it on Target.com
This. I have it and it's great. Costco might have it if Target doesn't. http://www.vizio.com/m260va.html
Yeah I could have gotten a tv for ~ that price but my inner :jew: would be destroying me until I took it back. Just couldn't do it so I'm glad I got the tv I got at it's price. How do you like it so far? Will be basically getting the same tv without an auto glare filter and a little smaller. Apparently you're suppose to age the pixels or some shit. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=18252425#post18252425 a lot of info to read through but it pertains to your tv. Apparently the one I bought is close enough to that series so i'm suppose to use it to calibrate it and all.
Damn that sucks. I ended up buying two. One in the store and one online. Think it's going to my mom for Christmas.
you can get a 32" Vizio for the same price http://www.amazon.com/VIZIO-E320VA-32-Inch-720p-Black/dp/B003NSBL9K/ref=sr_1_6?s=tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1291225961&sr=1-6
I might pull the trigger on this. I really want to get my parents a Christmas gift and they have had the same 20" TV for 25 years.
Looks like a lot of sound problems. If I do buy one. I will probably spend the extra 50-100 and buy a samsung
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+-+32%22+Class+/+720p+/+60Hz+/+LCD+HDTV/9773985.p?id=1218170915188&skuId=9773985 Yeah that ain't bad.
Maybe it's because i'm not used to bigger tv's but I have a 26" LED vizio on my desk as my bedroom tv and it's the perfect size. It's pretty close to me and I use it as a secondary monitor but it's the perfect size for my bedroom. It's probably not 4 feet from me though.
Yeah for that use 26 is perfect. Where my parents tv is a 32 would be better, but I am not quite sure they could fit i on the stand they have as it has been holding a 20" for 25 years.
So I have seen the couple TVs I was looking at go up about $30 in price so I need to make a move. Here are my choices. Looking at a 32" 32" LG 1080p for $380 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/LG+-+32%22+Class+/+1080p+/+LCD+HDTV/1199202.p?id=1218231414571&skuId=1199202&st=1199202&cp=1&lp=1&AID=10597222&PID=919776&URL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bestbuy.com%2Fsite%2FLG%2B-%2B32%2522%2BClass%2B%2F%2B1080p%2B%2F%2BLCD%2BHDTV%2F1199202.p%3Fid%3D1218231414571%26skuId%3D1199202%26st%3D1199202%26cp%3D1%26lp%3D1&ref=39&CJPID=919776&loc=01 32" Samsung 720p for $330 http://www.crutchfield.com/p_30532C350/Samsung-LN32C350.html?tp=35975
That is what I figured. I went with the Samsung as it was cheaper, my parents should get it in about 2 week.
LG 32" LCD 720P for 330 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0039RNGNY/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER good reviews..worth kopping?
Yeah, if you got plasma's be careful with it within the first 200 hours. I read one thing where a guy said as long as you don't abuse the TV you'll be fine. I didn't think I was abusing it but I guess I was by playing 2-3 hour sessions of MW2 pretty much right out of the box. Now I have a few things that won't go away because of the phosphors burning brighter/hotter for that first 200 hours. Not visible with regular viewing but gray/off-color stuff shows it. So do all of the aging stuff and turn the contrast to 50 or lower for the first 200 hours, etc. and then it'll be awesome.
That's a decent price for a name brand 32 inch tv right now. IF you prefer samsung you could probably find that for around the same price.
Yeah I kinda wish I didn't buy a plasma because of all the problems that I have to deal with [including glare on this model] but the price was just so damn good. Even if it last me a 3 years that'll be fine because i'll be done with college then.
I actually got it and it's beautiful. Not a scratch or crack on it. you buy.com for actually getting this to me and at this price.
i spent 155 on mine (pretty nice, but not top of the line) and i bought it from big lots. the decent ones at best buy are like 200-350.
Yeah after buying 3 tv's i'm out of money. Not sure what i'm gonna do with them [one is going to mom so I only have two]
I know its RCA, but for 380 bucks id put it in my bedroom http://slickdeals.net/?pno=43380&lno=1&afsrc=1
