trying to get a 32-40" tv for my room looking at different deals makes me about getting the right one
I can't wait for edge lit w/local dimming LEDs to drop in price. Hope it doesn't take until next Christmas.
Got one of these yesterday from amazon...it was replacing a 42' Plasma. Love it and Blu Ray looks amazing. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0038JED80/ref=asc_df_B0038JED801377865?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=pg-497-100-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395093&creativeASIN=B0038JED80
doing the same thing leaning towards getting the insigna led-lcd 32" for $480 from Best Buy, 1080p and 120hz
You probably won't be able to tell the difference in 720p and 1080p at 32 inches. Unless it will also be used as a monitor or you're sitting extremely close.
So I ended up selling my tv instead of shipping it (I started a dif thread that a few guys helped me out in) so I'm looking for a 32 720P tv. Anyone know of any good deals and/or when good deals would pop up? I have a tv already in the apartment I'm moving into so I don't necessarily have to get one immediately but I don't want to go too long without a tv in my bedroom.
LED is a waste unless it has local dimming. It is the same quality as an LCD, sometimes even worse. It's just a marketing ploy for the most part...the tvs that are LED and are actually superior are pretty much all over $2000. Save yourself money and just get a 120hz LCD.
I know best buy sucks but I'm never going to have the money all at once to buy a sweet tv like that. I'm just gonna have to wait until they do the 36 month no interest again after prices drop on them.
Dont need that much money, just get one of those 50 Panasonic 1080 for $750. You've 5x that under your mattress.
are you saying plasma? I would get one, but it's just not ideal for me unfortunately. I can't say with confidence I'll always have an appropriate room for it since I'm in college and will be moving so much in the next 3-4 years.
Plasmas are better TV's than LCD's if you ask me. And you can never go to big, give it 2 years and even a 42 will look too small.
That's not even a debate. They clearly are better, but some of these top of the line LEDs are starting to gain an edge. And agreed about the never too big. I want a 55 but god damn those are expensive. Next size for those LEDs from Samsung is 46, which is ok now for me but I know I will wish I went bigger a year down the road.
42 inch sharp aquos LED LCD TV for 619 free shipping. slickdeals says next lowest on google products is 870 http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=A4157689&~ck=baynoteSearch&baynote_bnrank=3&baynote_irrank=0&dgc=CJ&cid=24471&lid=566643&acd=10550055-1225267-u0t0f0fp44799c0s441
What do you mean by local dimming? Is that just the lighting in the room where the tv is? I hace learned a lot from this thread, I don't know a whole lot about tvs except that 98% of the shit theyntry to tell you is completely useless. I have a 50" Samsumg Plasma 720 and it sets right next to me roommates 40" toshiba LCD 1080 and when we have people over to watch games on both, I think my looks better. I have also read tht plasmas are better for watching sports, is that true?
I bought the Westinghouse 26" for $176.05 and just got it. It is solid, but I got it for so cheap and it is the perfect bedroom size for me.
Yeah and I had ordered that Vizio 26" 1080 but it got so back ordered I complained and got a $20 credit from Amazon, canceled that, and order the Westinghouse. Solid deal for $176. TV is fine, nothing special, but works nicely as a bedroom TV to replace the 22" Sony tube I have had for 15 years.
damn. i saw that deal and it was way too good to pass up unfortunately it was sold out. how fast do most tv deals on their sell out?
Completely depends on the site (if you mean slickdeals) and deal. I have seen some go in 3 minutes and others last a couple days.
Today only! Panasonic 42" 120hz LCD 1080p $499 http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-TC-L42U25-42-Inch-1080p-HDTV/dp/B00391XGDA/ref=xs_gb_A1X3ZF0AHHUMD6?pf_rd_p=441937901&pf_rd_s=right-1&pf_rd_t=701&pf_rd_i=20&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0RTM6NWJSVQCN58ZQ4T6
should I?? can't decide. already have a 47inch Vizio in teh living room..but i do need a tv in my bedroom
That's a pretty decent deal. Was just about to post it. Pretty good reviews. Probably 100 dollars cheaper than any other 42 inch 1080p and 120hz.
Unless you have a really big room with a lot of empty space and a bed pretty far away, 42" is pretty damn big. The deal is solid though.

i have a 27" 1080 (posted a few pages back) that is about 9 feet away from my head and its 'too small' my roommate has a 32' that is about 12 feet and i think its fine, but if i was buying from scratch now, I would go 37 or 42 for a bedroom.
i got through the break-in on my 58S2 last weekend, pushed the settings back up on 'Cinema' mode and it is staggering how much the picture improves. like a fine wine this thing just gets better with age
my not so technical response to this would be "yes." the refresh rates on plasmas are higher than LCDs, so that helps w/ motion blur (so i am told) my buddy has two Insignia 42" he bought at different times, a 1080 LCD and a 720 plasma, IMO the plasma looks way, way better (sports especially). one thing that annoys me about LCD is the brightness. if i'm not mistaken, because LCDs use actual light bulbs, it interferes with the color to an extent (creates a faded image). that's also the reason why they are said to have better black levels. it's hard to project proper blacks through light bulbs ... and if this is actually on point i'd love some feedback, as i am a plasma-phile
Just kopped a 42in LG LED. So far im pretty damn impressed. Im watching the cotton bowl right now and can't look away dispite fox's god awful college football coverage.
Alright I am finally in the market. Looking for something smaller, currently have a 42in in my bedroom that I've had for 4 years and moved into a buddy's place so we added it to the living room setup for games. Thinking a 27-32in would be good for a very very small bedroom (we're talking smaller than a dorm for a single). Definitely want multiple HDMI hookups cause I'll most likely use a laptop for most of my tv watching since my bedroom doesn't have the good cable package. If anyone has one they would recommend that'd be great, if not just trying to keep my eye out on a good deal. Also not too worries about crazy specs cause I'm not one who can really tell the difference.
Just figured I'd post here after spending the day walking CES. If you think 3D TV is a fad, you're wrong. Also, ESPN 3D looks fucking awesome in person. I would expect to see good working glasses-free 3D TV's in 2 years.

lol yeah, but for the price, its a steal, most people add speakers anyways, a 1080 tv would cost a lot more than that, the only difference is a tv will have more random connections (fewere HDMI, more Sd inputs, and no speakers). my tv in my room is 27" monitor. :)
should i keep holding out until the week or so leading up to the super bowl to get a tv? getting sick of not having a tv in my room but i can deal with watching tv on my computer if deals are coming. should add again that i'm not looking for anything other than a 32 lcd 720p for my room. we have a great tv in the living room but i got nothing in my room.
how good of deals are we expecting? stinky or UA seems like you might have an idea off of experience? I really want a bad ass LED but might need to wait until next christmas unfortunately
Wow thanks southside, those articles helped a lot. I knew that a lot of the shit they tell you is bs, but had no idea that there were so many different types of LED. Nice to see I'm not being a dumb ass when I think that some of the LEDs at the store don't look that good. That being said Im not so sure that getting another badass Samsung 1080 plasma might be the best way to go. I will be getting it for a basement set up where I'm going to have a projection screen, my current 50" another 50" or so and probably one 32" or two if I find a good deal. The reason I think I'll want a plasma is for the side view are so much better on those and obviously everyone isn't going to be able to sit directly in front of the tv so I thin that is my best bet. What do you guys think?
Was looking around and 65" Panasonic plasma for 1800? Drooling, guess ill wait for a deal to come up at around 1400-1500. I need to stop my technology addiction! I already have a 4k projector, a 50 plasma I payed 1700 for 4 years ago, a 42 $600 I bought 2 years ago. With all the money Ive unnecessarily spent on electronics I could of almost bought this. Fuuuck need to stop spending all money!
dont feel like reading through all this to see if its true or not but holy shit if it is http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?sduid=0&t=2553625 well nevermind didnt realize that you had to go and return it and shit...guessing its some kind of scam
