Didn't see a thread. So god damn sad.
When I was on my way to work this morning cop cars were flying past me. The Walmart is about a mile from where I work. Super sad.
Does anyone know the motive yet or what happened for her to get shot/killed? Terribly sad.
It's in a really bad area of Orlando so idk could be just a bad actor
Apparently the officer was shopping at Wal Mart and someone informed her there was a wanted man. She went up to him to question him and he opened fire. He's wanted for killing his pregnant girlfriend in December and has been arrested 20 times.
^^^what he said
20 times? jesus christ how?
Guessing for petty shit like shop lifting and possession
I have clients who were arrested like 100 times
well, the good news is that when he gets found he gonna be dead so we won't have to debate on why a man that has been arrested 21 times is still walking free
Well shit that's awful. Fuck him.
It's not in his area, but I hope NoleNBlue gets him and has his body cam on when he lights him up. Fuck that dude.
didn't read anything on this but I always find it amazing that people will recognize totally random strangers and be able to connect the dots whether they are WANTED or not.
Was it random or someone that knew the guy?
Orlando has a real growing violence problem. Gentrification has pushed a lot of low income people out of Parramore so we can build new stadiums and breweries and pushed everyone into Pine Hills, which was already a bad area. Now its a really bad area and the gang activity has gotten out of hand. My friend is a cop in Hillsborough Co (Tampa) and he has had to come to Orlando to assist with cases as the gangs in Pine Hills are running guns and drugs all over the state.
There was a 2-3 week period in Dec/Jan where there was a shooting every single day.
Dept fighting body cams like you wouldn't believe
Info I've heard is they have him surrounded in an apartment complex and were searching for him. He's not gonna get taken alive imo
Why is this? I'm not knowledgeable on the pros/cons, but seems like something that could help cops in the long run.
Can't stop for donuts as much with the man looking
Horrible situation and day in general, the motorcycle cop was just driving along doing his thing as part of the search, fucking traffic accident.
And the woman cop killed at the Walmart was supposedly one of the best on the force, really involved in the community.
Like Mix said, seems like the shootings in the news are more prevalent than non-violent news these days.
Wife works in Apopka, scares me to death when she is there late at night. She also apparently knew both the cops that died.
Really hope the turn the K9's loose on the shooter, tear that motherfucker apart.
I guess she wasn't sure that was the suspect when she questioned him. Terrible.
Well maybe we need to rethink some things
She was trying to verify his identity after another customer thought it was him after seeing his picture on the news. When she made contact he drew on her and they exchanged fire. He wasn't hit, she was :(
Lots of contention in reference to what's protected by HIPAA and what isn't. They don't want to open up officers to liability.
gotcha, makes sense, seems like it could be useful in a lot of situations but I can see how it would be used against a cop by an unscrupulous lawyer.
Money grubbers be everywhere
good point. If I knew the person was trouble I don't know if I'd get involved.
Nah it's pretty good, not worth throwing someone in jail for 100 years over stealing some small shit
Cops think that people have been helping him hide since he killed his girlfriend last month.
Hoping that someone rats him out now, not sure that's going to happen quickly.
Pro tip: when you steal small shit 100 times it adds up
if he was getting help after killing his pregnant ex gf and people knew where he was laying low, i doubt they would turn him in now for shooting an off duty cop imo.
Yeah, that's pretty much what i figured. Can't imagine helping someone like that.
Yeah I know that. But it's usually a part of a larger, less criminal problem if someone is stealing deodorant a bunch from a store
This guy is different, I'm talking about drug addicts
Uhhhhh you and I work insanely close to each other apparently. I'm over near JYP and old winter garden road
They should've pursued him this hard after he shot his fucking pregnant girlfriend. You have some serious mental issues if you're willing to shoot a woman carrying your fucking child.
Thought HIPAA only applied to health care providers. Are cops included in that?
I saw a bunch of cop cars heading that direction on my way to class that morning just outside of Pine Hills at 50 and JYP. I had no idea what was going on but they were crossing medians into the opposite lanes of traffic to get over there.
But yeah Pine Hills is getting even worse now since the new Amway Center, soccer stadium, and downtown UCF campus started being built.
The Citrus Bowl renovation is going to help accelerate that gentrification process as well
HIPAA only applies to covered entities. The police aren't one. I can't find any way to link them to it reading through the guidelines either.
BUT WHAT IF SHE VOTED FOR TRUMP?????
Yep. Forgot about that. Basically the entire entertainment port of the west half of downtown was renovated.
Right, and the further down 50 you go the nicer the houses get until you eventually start being pushed into the rural areas out in Clermont. So these people are pretty much getting gentrified from both sides. So where the fuck are these people going to go? They certainly can't go north and the south is tourist town.
Yes, when it comes to medical issues.
Another issue is the expectation of privacy in one's home. There's no case law yet defining its extent and ain't a dept in the country wants to set that precedent
Magic Entertainment Complex should start soon once the Police HQ gets demolished.
maybe they're covered under hybrid entity. Emergency workers and shit.
"That officer busted into my house and showed everyone my dick enhancer machine on his body camera!"
