Jakai Moore is from that area and has stayed through a coaching change, really bad turf toe and other injury issues, and inconsistent playing time. Considering there'll be a group of 7-8 DMV kids on the roster after this year and there's a big population of those kids on campus regardless I don't think it's that big a deal.
I was a part of the 2007 class for normies and my roommates best friend had a subscription to Brazzers so I wouldn’t be so sure.
Hope you’re right I’m fully aware my opinion isn’t based on any fact or statistic. Just makes me feel uneasy.
If my “northern kids” take is bad then the “2007 class not being great for us” is horrendously terrible. That class was loaded with players who started multiple years for us, made huge plays for us, made all-sec, and a number of NFLers. Maybe we’ve had a class or two that’s better I guess, but that 2007 class was massive for the Spurrier era, which is the best era in our programs history.
Deff going to try and do Norman or Tuscaloosa in ‘24. I have mixed feelings about the whole situation, but if we smashing the divisions may as well rip the bandaid
i really dislike this new scheduling format i figured we'd probably lose 1 of GA, FL, TN, maybe two, but not all damn three
yeah the lack of any geographic considerations seems kind of stupid my hope is that this 2024 schedule is just a one-off and not an entirely new format
Man we died off in here. TC you still in here? We just had orientation these last 2 days and had some questions
old man alert - son went through orientation last week. Living in green quad. Moves in August 14th I think. Damn.
We did orientation. She doesn't have a dorm yet so we are thinking she's going to get Bates. Are you still involved in the U101 classes? She wants to work at Strom or the Blatt, where would she go to apply? She's probably going to rush as well. Any tips and things? She's going to park her car freshman year at a family members house and see how it goes (shuttles!)We are in Florence and have family in Swansea and Gaston, so relatively close. Transloc and Rave apps look awesome. Pillars camp worth it? Deadline is Friday for the July sessions.
Thought Bates would be gone this year but it's still with us one more year. Not right next to Russell House but I think it'd be a fine location -- close to Blatt and some of the sports stadiums at least. A ton of people will be living right there in the new "Campus Village" building. Easiest way to get a campus job is to have a "work study" award through FAFSA. If you don't get offered work study, don't give up -- some offices hire non work study students. Having work study makes you able to kind of name your spot though. If you don't get work study initially, you can check with Financial Aid after school starts and sometimes more is available if someone turned something down. I'd start by calling/emailing/going by Campus Recreation and inquiring about student job opportunities for this year: https://sc.edu/about/offices_and_divisions/campus_recreation/index.php I think parking off campus this year is probably a good idea. They took up the huge parking lot that was by Bates so I'm not sure where people are supposed to park. The shuttles have come a long way as far as being able to accurately track when it will arrive. I think Pillars would be a lot of fun for someone who grew up a huge Carolina fan, which I'm guessing might be the case. There's some history/traditions/school spirit stuff in U101 but Pillars will spend the whole week on that. Rush requires you to move in a week early these days. Kinda wild you have to know if you're doing it before you even get to school but that's how all the big schools are I'm told. She may decide Pillars is too much if she's also dedicating a week this summer to rush, idk. Both are good ways to establish a friend group right away. Is she feeling good about her major? adephoi is your son good with his major?
She wants to major in psychology, also bilingual to an extent in Spanish. Hoping to parlay that into something good.
he is sports medicine at the Arnold School of public health. initially, he is going for physical therapy but I think he’s doing that because he had to declare and he enjoyed his PT after shoulder surgery in HS. He is going through rush - already been to a couple of parties downtown. we advised him to take as few hours as possible to keep his scholarships - he is signed up for 16 hours. Parking in the blossom street garage so he’s taking his truck to campus. He’s excited and I’m increasing his mom’s anxiety meds.
My wife is already on those. I'm going to need to invest in gummies or some shit so she won't have a heart attack.
Good stuff boys. We have gone from ScFan27 being a freshman to the offspring of FightingCock and adephoi. I will laugh if they meet and end up dating
It’s a big school but if your student runs into any kind of situation up here let me know. I know a lot of random people/info
Damn, I’m 37 and have a 3 and a 2 yo with another on the way in November. Seems I’ve done something wrong.
I think bates is gone and we are down to bates west, or maybe it’s vice versa. Either way this year is last hurrah before they finish campus village. Id be a little worried if my dorm was campus village this year because it’s still under construction. Hopefully it’s not like the Sochi hotel rooms missing doorknobs and whatnot
They put me in the roost for my freshman year and I had to jump to reach the shower heads. I swear they were made for Wilt Chamberlain.
My wife had her daughter at 19. I joined the party when she was 11, so I did your path lol. Wife went to midlands tech as a hygienist after having our daughter. We decided against having another once we got married just because she was so far past the baby stage.
Did you guys see the big article in the state about stadium development? They are talking about “the battery” from braves stadium around WB essentially. They also confirmed that the current stadium “will not be demolished” so that’s good to hear
Sites I'm on a lot: TMB and social media Sites I'm not on: Gamecock fan sites I saw the stadium area expansion thing from a State article that was shared on Facebook
What's the meaning of 1110? 1110 Meaning It is a sign that you are ready to make a change in your life, and it is time for you to start moving forward on your spiritual path. This number also signifies new beginnings, so it is the perfect time to set some new goals for yourself and start working towards them.
It's the new renovation of the fairgrounds to turn the current dilapidated eastern bloc layout into Wrigleyville
There was some misconstruing of a post by a mod that hinted at a stadium renovation project that would be an 11/10 in terms of impact for the program and a bunch of people ran with the idea there was an announcement in November then the whole thing became a meme
The project looks mildly exciting to me. On one hand, the area around the stadium sucked and this helps improve it. Retail looks better than shipping warehouses. On the other hand, sounds like a bunch of meh chains that will mostly help the same usual private developers. Columbia continues to be all over the place with its development -- Vista and Main Street here, Bull Street District here, new totally separate district over here etc. Can we just buy everything on Assembly between the Engineering School and the stadium? That's the stretch I'd most like to improve.
