Won’t be there tonight but I’ll be in South Lower tomorrow. Just drove through five points and saw some folks with car flags. Spurs up.
Rocket looks like the first real RB we've had since Kevin Harris. Lloyd was a bit soft for my liking.
It’s going to be a long season boys. If you actually choose to keep watching this shit show, that is.
Rocket and the D look good if you pretend DQ Smith doesn’t exist. Sellers is not ready. This is going to suck.
Really wish Harbor would move to defense. He had the biggest play of his career today and it was a defensive play. Him and Stewart on the field at the same time rushing the QB would be sexy.
The best I can think of probably wasn’t even top half of the SEC and was certainly helped by Connor Shaw’s ability to evade the pass rush and extend plays. Or the one from Lattimore’s Freshman season. Imagining Stephen Garcia playing with last seasons (and probably this years as well) is frightening.
Sellers looked better this weekend, it looks like it might’ve just been nerves last week, at least I hope. He’s much better on the run and improvising than standing still in the pocket. Still waiting for a receiver to step up, hopefully Mazeo can be that guy. Defense looks legit so far. They didn’t have a clean pocket all game except for when they threw a pick 6. Our rush ends are great and Dylan Stewart is going to be rich.
That Jared Brown kid is going to be a little baller. I think he might end up being our best receiver. Reminds me a little of deebo. First guy always has trouble taking him down.
Trivia: when is the last time the Gamecocks averaged over 200 yards rushing per game as a team for the season? I'm legitimately wondering. I went sleuth mode and pulled out the media guide. It only lists the team rushing stats yearly since 1992. We have never done it in that time frame. (We've averaged 300+ passing yards a game once, 1995.) See page 146: https://storage.googleapis.com/gamecocksonline-com/2024/07/2bbc461a-scmg2024.pdf
None since 1992. I’ll have to find one of my old print media guides to check for before that. Presumably George Rogers and the veer offense got there.
Oh hell. It's happening. South Carolina searching for new AD, Ray Tanner to transition to new role The University of South Carolina announced on Friday morning that the school is actively searching for a new athletics director. Ray Tanner, who has served in his role since 2012, will transition to a new role as soon as a new AD is found, USC president Michael Amiridis said during a scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees on Friday morning. According to information delivered during the call, which was attended by GamecockCentral.com, Tanner will move to a role as Senior Advisor to the President once a new athletics director is in place. A release from the university sent out following the BOT meeting on Friday also noted that Tanner will become “athletics director emeritus.” The personnel agreement reached between Tanner and South Carolina will run until June 2028, and the deal can be extended at that time upon mutual consent. Tanner will be compensated $987,500 until July 26, 2025. After that, his salary will become $800,000 for the life of the deal for his new position. “I’m humbled and honored that I have had the great fortune to be a part of this wonderful university and that will continue,” Tanner said in the release. “For a while now, I have thought there’s going to come a time for Carolina to get a new athletics director, and the president and I have had those conversations. There was interest for me to remain at the university. I agreed to stay in a new role because of my passion for this university, this city and this state.”
Terrified of our game @ Bama. Ole Miss and OU don’t seem like guaranteed loses, but Bama bout to fuck us up
I guess were going back to our roots and just taking bring the department here. Maybe this will lead to some more games actually being scheduled (I'm not expecting it to)
