Marcus Lattimore’s first game against Georgia he broke 41 tackles. He was clearly different/special and just a bad argument. Obviously competition matters but you need to put your players in their best position to succeed and in general Roper doesn’t do that. He appears to be getting better so maybe there’s hope but running AJ Turner up the middle over and over is fucking stupid.
Lattimore also ran behind guys that are in NFL currently (just saying backs cant do it by themsleves which seems to be a basis of your argument with all of our skill players just need better play calls). Why do you think those digs over middle, hitches or slants are open? Makes LBs step up. Hell the guy has had 4 wheel routes that were set up perfectly for TDs, but Bentley couldnt hit them. He isn't just running something by just saying fuck it lets do it. Is he perfect? Not by any means, but no coach is. But, there is a method to what he is trying to do.
when the fuck did I say that? All I’m saying is that you need to put players in a position to succeed, that’s your job as a coach. Running a small back up the middle over and over is the opposite of that. Why are you constantly trying to change my argument? Marcus was a special back who made everyone around him better. He consistently got hit at the line but broke the tackle and fell forward.
Do you believe any of our running backs are as talented as lattimore or are you just talking out of both sides of your mouth?
Calm down, was just making a point that the best back in SCAR history couldnt run behind this line, no matter the scheme. You mentioned other backs, could it possibly have to do that bigger back isnt as good in pass pro? Doesnt understand offense? Obviously Bobby Bentley has a say so who is getting PT, not just Roper. Ropers Off is set up off inside zone and then split zone with those all the play actions are set up off of it. If a team doesnt respect you to run (most teams SCAR faces dont), it doesnt matter if you have a big back running power or any other scheme with any other type of back. If they can wear out your OL with 4 guys down on run, doesnt matter what OC is calling plays.
Neither. Where did I say we had anyone close to his ability? I said we need to put players in a position to succeed. We aren’t doing it. He was special and it didn’t really matter what we did because he was special. Separate arguments I guess. I’ll space it out for you from now on. Sorry for the confusion.
You’re just talking yourself in circles. So we don’t actually have the talent to make up for the offensive line woes?
How am I talking myself in circles? I’ve said from the beginning that we need to put our talented players in a position to succeed by calling plays to their abilities. Turner has done better recently when we’ve put him in space instead of running him up the middle. I know you like to try to piss people off and be a contrarian but just stop.
I’m not being a contrarian you’re just too dumb to realize what you’re saying. You're arguing like a 10 year old and explains why you think there is a simple fix to our offense.
You don't agree with this? "we need to put our talented players in a position to succeed by calling plays to their abilities. Turner has done better recently when we’ve put him in space instead of running him up the middle"
This is fluff like saying you want to make america great again. Do you disagree with making america great again? I would hope you are knowledgable enough about football to know that you can't have a RB that you only run to the outside. Talk about handicapping yourself by telling the defense they don't have to guard anything between the tackles. The bigger issue is Paton is trying to argue we have players talented enough to make up for the offensive line issues. Then admitting we don't really have any of those players but we should still play to their strengths and ignore the OL issues.
Are you really this stupid or are you attempting to troll? You ask me to answer a nonsensical question. I explain why it's a dumb question and you then try to claim it's a disingenuous discussion?
Sorry, man. I guess I’m just not on your level. I wish I could exist in your plane of genius where bad offense is actually good offense. I’ll just hang out in my 10 year old world doing 10 year old things.
This is why you're arguing like a child. Where has anyone argued we have a good offense? You're creating a fake narrative to make yourself feel better about a poor argument. The same way Babou is trying to run from a conversation instead of acknowledging the dumb argument he tried to make.
You were trying to legitimize GeneralPaton's nonsensical rambling instead of having a legitimate discussion. It would be nice though if our issue was simply that we aren't putting players in a position to be successful. I just don't get why you guys want to make yourself miserable with that make believe though?
I agree we lack talent in the trenches but Roper has also been guilty of going back to the well on stuff we haven’t executed and being predictable and I don’t think you can debate that. He’s improved as the season’s gone along though. As long as we keep seeing improvement I’m good with him for now.
My nonsensical ramblings lol. You make it seem like I’m trying to say we are simply putting guys in a position to be successful away from a national title. I’m just saying that we would be better and have a better producing offense if our OC understood how to make adjustments to help make his players more successful. Obviously we need to improve up front and we would/will be better if/when that happens. Stop being a fucking child.
So again with deflecting and bullshit instead of answering my question. Which I fucking asked simply the first time. Which is why I walked away after you continued to be yourself. As to the rest of what your're saying, it isn't what I asked or stated or any sort of point I made. Which again, is why I walked away after you continue to be yourself.
Do you seriously not understand why your question was dumb? It's like asking me if I think it's a good idea to breathe.
It's just sad that you're legitimately arguing like a five year old and not attempting to troll. We can tell who voted for Trump and fell for the similarly retarded arguments.
Are you sure he's improved? You've only played one defense in the top 45 nationally (UGA), and you put up 10 points. We all saw what Auburn did to that defense today. You were 114th out of 130 in total offense coming into today's game, and it's not because you were playing good defenses. What kind of real improvement can you associate with the 114th ranked offense?
Congrats. He really put the boots to juggernauts like TN (backup QB)/UF (backup QB)/Vandy/aTm (QB that was later benched)/Arkansas (injured QB) recently. UGA can't complete a forward pass as demonstrated by Auburn today again and still played keepaway against your Steel Curtain without breaking a sweat.
You have one win over a Power 5 opponent with a winning record, and in that game you got doubled up in yardage and TOP and tripled up in first downs. Pretty much the definition of a fluke. Your offense is beyond terrible and your defense is meh and can do the whole bend don't break thing because you don't play anyone on a weekly basis.
Guys, we're only averaging 4.0 ypc. If history is any indicator, I think that should tell you everything you need to know about where our team ranks in the grand scheme of things.
Are you a young man in the south that plays football defense? If so I think it's clear which school is most fun to play for
We’re up to 64th in yards per play at 5.2 Spoiler Don’t look now but Clemson is only at 49th with 5.7 ypp
Was in Columbia this weekend for the game. As noted ITT, shit game, but I'll take the W and the atmosphere in Willy B was hype. Highlight of the weekend: Saturday night saw a Gators fan in a Rex Grossman jersey take a tequila shot at Jake's and proceed to projectile vomit at the outside bar. Eruption of boos from everyone who saw, then dude gets dragged out by security to raucous applause. Good times
