I could look like a brilliant offensive mind with the talent he’s worked with at Bama. There’s much more evidence in his record that he’s a mediocre offensive mind
Please tell me all of the evidence on his record that he’s a mediocre offensive mind. Washington a decade ago? I’m honestly curious as to what that is. He’s a better play caller, schemer, and recruiter than Kiffin who is torching the league.
Literally everything before his current job. I completely disagree with that comparison on Kiffin and his playcalling
I just have no interest in fucking with someone whose best resume booster is pointing to dominating with a disparate talent advantage. That’s not what we do here and it’s why we look like dogshit with Muschamp coaching our defenses. He’s an average coach who just got to coach some elite talent as he road coattails early in his career.
You completely disagree with the Kiffin comparison based on what? Sark was the more highly regarded of the two at SC, and he’s been much better than Kiffin in Tuscaloosa. Lane is great at certain things, but as a whole, Sark is a much better coordinator in terms of prep/effort, balance, concepts/scheme, and adapting. Kiffin was better at feeding the star player, that’s it. Apologies for derailing the thread.
I think we should be looking at fast talking, Andy Griffinesque Insurance salesmen with a disdain for oppressed people. It seems to be the only recipe proven to work in South Carolina.
Bunch of unfounded speculation and rumors on the new coach. Apparently hiring an outside firm to do background research. Caslen will be involved in the search. Freeze, Napier, Chadwell, Lashlee, Fickell are all early names being thrown out by media but no one knows. Wish we would pay Kimrey or Shaw $1 million bucks with no long term contract. Make it completely incentivized ($200,000 per SEC win, $500,000 for an SEC east title, $1 M for SEC title, etc) and no buyout. Change the way college football coach’s contracts work. Paying Muschamp 12-15 Mil to walk away is bad business and not sustainable. If in 2 years they are 2-10 then we hire the next hot name until we find someone who fits. Really really really don’t want a retread SEC coach or Bobo to get the job long term.
i think what ppl are saying is that South Carolina does not have the talent of Alabama and so it really makes no difference whatsoever whether Sark won there or not
I really like the idea, but I feel like Kimrey or Shaw specifically is perhaps too much of a stretch someone like Chadwell from CCU is probably not the most objectively qualified (i.e. experienced) candidate, but at least he has been a college HC, he's recruited before, etc. Same with Napier.
I don’t think Sark is the answer. Just an amateur opinion but he doesn’t strike me as a program builder. Energy, passion, knowledge, and lack of fear to try something new. Freeze and Chadwell are hot names but not sure their success is sustainable. Someone with a deep connection to the program is why I’d like to see Shaw, Kimrey, Staley (Duce), etc get a lowball contract with big incentives. Nothing to lose right now. I just don’t think universities can afford to keep increasing coaching salaries in this economic climate.
Fun to discuss but Tanner will hire someone “safe” like Muschamp and we’ll be having this discussion in 3-5 years after they fire Tanner too. My way too early prediction.
so... Taneyhill for HBC? pay him about $45,000 /yr spend the rest on rooster iconography, maybe some gargoyles for Williams-Brice
Don’t blame Horn. Nothing to play for and he’s going to play in the NFL. If we were in contention for something then it would hurt a little but he needs to make sure he doesn’t get hurt playing against Mizzou and Kentucky.
I’d rather him sit out. Why risk an acl carrying the ball 20+ times a game in a season that doesn’t matter?
Nah I want to see him break Lattimore's record for rushing TDs in a season in a shortened All-SEC schedule. That would be really impressive.
There’s a good chance we don’t line up and hand it to him out of the I a bunch next year and with Lloyd and Fenwick back we should have depth regardless. Go get some records
None are a loss when you consider this season is meaningless and they would have been gone next year regardless. Get young guys reps.
