It’s funny Heupel leaving his team got the same reaction Frost got from Oregon. Our players seem to love what they are doing.
So apparently Walters said his QBs at Nebraska throw it better than his UCF guys and Milton didn't seem to take it well. Such a non-story but please use it for motivation.
What a dumb and useless statement by Walters. He could have said something along the lines of these guys are way ahead of expectations or something and not some blatant lie.
Yea...you’re gomna have to link where that was said. I’ve yet to hear Walters say anything like that.
Take a look at our road schedule. Could have the best QB in FBS and still lose 3-4 (not to mention our oline sucks and defense is a complete question mark). Spoiler @Michigan @Wisconsin @Northwestern @Ohio State @Iowa Also, Michigan State and Purdue at home (normally, the latter would be a laugher, but they're not an easy out)
Dawkins got a great shooter from JUCO which is exactly what we needed. If Aubrey and Tacko and BJ can stay healthy we have a fantastic team next year. Please don't let me down again.
He was surprisingly pretty decent, but was a long way from being an above average FBS starter at a strong program. I’m sure he’s improved though.
As long as that finally gets us to the tourney then I could give a shit if we win the conference. Tacko also now has a solid backup in Smith from GW. Hopefully we finally have the depth to deal with injuries but we can't lose any of the top three guys again. We lost all three to significant time last year and still won 19 games.
I'd imagine that's mainly because he knows the playbook and not because he is more talented than a guy like Martinez.
And you’d be right. QBs are learning the offense and adjusting to the speed of the offense. Having Vedral has been a huge help for the other QBs tho.
Firing Chins will be Frost’s first real test as a head coach. End of year 2 or 3 if we’re placing bets.
Yeah, that's probably toward the top of the concerns at this point. Could work out, could not work out. You guys were ready to make a statue for the guy before he faced two of the top offenses in the country toward the end of the year. I'm sure our love/hate relationship will be quite similar. Just win, baby (in 2019 and beyond).
Chins is taking over the worst defense in our history and one of the worst in all of college football last season. He’ll get time to fix it imo
Luckily Neb is in a soft division. Wisconsin is the team to beat most years and they don't score much. Having to stop OSU and PSU every year would suck.
We play OSU pretty much every year (ok, 4 of 7 years so far, but on the schedule through 2021, so that will be 8 of 11), and for the last two, we just went with not stopping them at all. The soft division is nice, but not when you get the toughest crossover schedule most years. Thanks, Uncle Jim!
He seems fine. Players seem to like him. Offense should be a top 25 easily. I’m most worried about our defense with losing a few good players there and Randy Shannon possibly thinking he can just check or with this job.
That wasn't so much for his (or Frost's) on the field performance at the time, it's because he's a charming dude who's good on a mic. It was a foregone conclusion that Frost had a time limit on him and everyone was hoping Chins could keep the party going. Keep in mind we were coming from George O'Leary, who's basically the least charming coach in history. You ask the majority of UCF fans to rank what they want in a program and they'd say cool uniforms and live music at tailgates. We don't have enough of a winning tradition for people to really give that much of a shit, and Frost & Co. (along with Danny White) brought what the fans wanted. What I do like about him at DC is that he's aggressive as fuck. That made things a lot of fun in year 2 when balls bounced our way, not so much in year 1. What I didn't like about him is no one on our team knows how to tackle. We'll see what happens up in the great white north.
I'll never forget that Temple homecoming game that was straight blown by Chins. My legitimate concern is that our defense was given a massive boost due to the leadership of Shaquem. Without him (and Guerad and Pittman), I do think it's inevitable that we take a step back on defense.
Maybe this will be a unpopular opinion, but to me Hughes will be the biggest loss( over Shaquem) unless Clark and Moore make a huge jump or someone else steps up. That guy literally shut down whatever side of the field he was on. I’m mostly interested to see what happens on the DL, since all the younger guys are massive.
DBs have looked really good in spring practice from everything I've heard. I'm more concerned with the LBs and getting pressure. Def needs to get in the top 50 for another run at a title. And we need to find a new returner.
Good thing we have an abundance of athletes to pick from. I’d love to see Killens get a shot at KR and maybe Anderson and his quickness at PR.
It's easier to be aggressive when you have a LB who seemingly doesn't have a limit on stamina while also being fast as hell as a complete game-disrupter. While at the same time, a total shutdown DB. So I don't know how much I credit that to Chins or just Griffin making everyone around him look good. But who was the one who moved Griffin to LB? If that is Chins then his statue should go next to Frost's.
I'm not worried about finding returners. We have an abundance of qualified guys for that spot, even if they aren't quite as good as Hughes.
Shaquem can probably be replaced on defense but I think it’s impossible to replace him in the locker room. My hope is that after his nfl career he goes into coaching. He can get a job at Akron or some shitty school and then we’ll steal him and be total dicks about it and never ever leave Akron message board threads until the end of time.
Shaquem for President. http://kwese.espn.com/nfl/draft2018...em-griffin-already-inspired-legion-young-fans
Just read that. Frigging love that guy. Going to make a hell of a coach. We can put his statue next to George's, just a little bit bigger and looking down on it.
This kid is transferring here https://www.seccountry.com/south-ca...uke-doumbia-release-south-carolina-basketball #South Carolina Gamecocks is he any good?
He had a lot of promise in HS, but fell apart as a freshman under Frank. Usually Frank's projects can do one thing really well and he builds them over their career. He never showed signs of life at all this year, so good luck.
