Same but I deserved it since UF was also down 2 scores at halftime in the state of Tennessee and I decided to talk shit.
Before this week I don't remember there being friction from the media or the AP pollsters. I don't know if it was the close win or the glass ceiling but something changed. People are starting to get pissy about UCF again.
They thought they had us. The media had all their headlines and stories written about us by halftime. How the “national champs” got blown out by a mediocre G5 team. How they were right the whole time and we actually weren’t as good as we thought we were. How everyone can finally stop talking about us as we return to G5 pergatory. Then we had the audacity to not lose
It's going to be real funny in 2020 when we finally lose a game and these people are going to act like they told us so.
We could win 100 straight and as soon as we lost, people would be lining up to tell us how much we suck and how we don’t play anyone.
Remember when we were UCiF and now we are clutch in close games, but it doesn't matter because we dont play anyone?
Honestly I feel like the hate we get this year is worse than last year even though we struggled in more games last year. Maybe it's because everyone thought losing Frost would put us back in our place and it didn't?
Yeah but can UCF do it week in and week out like Clemson? If we had Furman and then followed that up against Texas A&M immediately into Georgia Southern we would lose at least two games. Theres no weeks off in the power confrences. When you have to go TO Georgia Tech and then get Syracuse at home before going ON THE ROAD at Wake Forest and then into a bye week it's not like the schedule that UCF plays. There's no weeks off.
No one was paying attention last year until late in the season. IMO Memphis was a far more impressive win this year than SMU was last, it's just no one saw it or cared. Haters are only going to get louder as the season goes on too.
Who is giving us shit now? I'm in the kind of mood that makes me want to read this shit and let it piss me off. Also, had a coworker, Notre Dame fan, give me the "we were Pitt's Super Bowl because they hate us" line today when I brought up that we beat them by 30 and Notre Dame won by 5.
To be fair, the latter is said by you guys ad nauseam. At least you're honest about it. Why I enjoy you all.
Nobody here thinks we have a tough schedule, but we do play a couple decent teams. It’s not the SEC. We know that, but if we were in any P5 we could afford to lose a game and still be in the playoff.
It's silly to compare to SEC but much much MUCH less so when comparing to the ACC or even pac12. The gap between AAC and the bottom half of the P5 is so much closer than it's perceived. That's all.
Thank you, Big LEast. And definitely agree. Plus, it’s college football in 2018. Aside from the tippidy top, it’s all a mess of good, not great teams. And a good bit of awful teams
If you had a 96% chance to win every game you played you'd still have under a 50% chance to win 20 straight. It doesn't matter how much our opponents suck. The teams streak is incredibly impressive and should be worth more than instant dismissal.
Shit was driving me up the wall yesterday listening to the same talking heads who said Pitt was garbage when we beat them by 30 talk about how talented Pitt was on defense to hold ND to 19
We were in the "BCS auto bid era" of the big east/aac for just one season. We won the conference and the fiesta bowl.
More to do with a watered down ACC. Granted, with you guys ruling the state, that’s also diminished their cred.
That’s the impressive thing to me. Hell I think I’m on the young side of this thread so we were all around for the UCiF days. Where year after year we would shoot ourselves in the foot every big game or moment. The fact that we are now being clutch every time the game is on the line is amazing to me. I also root for Atlanta teams that crumble in big moments.
i don’t doubt that we would finish in the top half of the ACC, Pac12, and BigXII as we are right now. Furthermore, we probably still end up bowl eligible in the SEC and Big10 depending on our OoC schedule
UCiF had a lot more to do with George’s philosophy than with a lack of talent or scheduling. How many times were we up at halftime against a big name opponent for George to take the foot of the gas and play not to lose the second half. That’s the biggest difference now than before, our program’s philosophy is don’t take your foot of the opponent’s neck
A perfect example is Saturday at the end of the game when we went for it on 4th and 1 with 3 min left from our own 40. George punts right there and gives memphis 3 min to march down the field and we probably lose. Josh tells the offense to go get the first down and finish this game.
I'm sitting in the stands at Autzen getting text updates from my dad, I absolutely thought punting there was the right move, with as well as our defense had shut them down all game. I'm certainly glad we didn't do that, but if we had gone for it and missed it, I'm not sure any of us would have been happy about Josh's big balls. Maybe i'm wrong, but I certainly would have been pissed. Regardless, I love that we don't play not to lose anymore.
I was all for going for it right there. It was the right move to try to finish out the game. I would have been disappointed in Heup if we punted. Now the first 4th and 1 that we ended up scoring on? I appreciate being aggressive but if we don't get that, we most likely lose and I’m on here saying Josh dun fucked up.
No doubt some of our opponents are god awful. It sucks that schedules are made so far in advance. When we scheduled UNC they were 11-3 and a division champ. Really the most annoying thing is hearing “why don’t you guys just join a real conference?” From fans who know exactly how Conference realignment works
I just hope we don't fall apart in the post KZ era. We need to keep it up until the next round of expansions/contractions which is like, 2024. If we can keep pulling 9-12+ win seasons we'll be alright. If we turn in another 0fer we're screwed.
GOL was the reason we were inconsistent. I fully believe we will be at the top of this conference until we can get out. Too many built in advantages to every other team including USF and their 10 fans.
I like to think so. GOL might have gotten the old money dudes to write checks, but in every other way he was holding us back. I'm sold on Heup being a great cultural fit, but I'm curious to see how it all looks when it's his players not inherited kids. I like to think we'd look a smidge less messy with a slightly taller qb and a running back who weighs more than 160lbs, but.. we'll see.
i feel pretty confident that heupel will at least get a good qb in here if mack doesn't work out. seems like he's got a good eye for that and developing qb's.
Supposedly the freshman Quadry Jones looks like the future at the position right now over Mack. He has some of the “it factor” that Milton has. Who knows.
