First I’ve heard of it, but Tribble was quite possibly the worst experiment of an athletic director of all time.
Because we opened our Stadium that season and Texas agreed to come play in the first game. Was this supposed to be a gotcha post about something that happened 11 years ago?
no, I read it in an article on ESPN about the proposed 2-for-1 and I'm wondering why they paid a buyout on the game.
there is no reason for UF to play us. i love ucf but we receive all the benefit of them agreeing to a home and home or a home-home-neutral. in fact playing a two for 1 with us is even surprising that it'd be on the table -- and probably was only suggested because he knew danny wouldn't agree. i say that as a diehard ucf fan. but really what's the point of them playing us from a gator standpoint?
I think we can all agree with this logic. It doesn’t mean we all can’t laugh at boom for acting like UF didn’t duck us because the AD said it on Twitter.
But the benefit for them to play us would be to shut us up. They know they would get an ass whooping , so like you said no benefit.
oh they totally did, and will continue to. i could never see UF scheduling us just for bragging rights or something, especially when we would beat their ass.
To me, it's more embarrassing that their AD is still trying to talk his way out of this. He's going to the Orlando sentinel to get a statement out a week after the selections we announced? He must be getting nervous the truth is going to come out.
That’s the most enjoyable part. It was literally unprovoked by UCF but just the fan response on both sides made Stricklin think it was a good idea to fight it out in the press, which only builds our brand more. I mean.. All of this from UCFs perspective has been less about putting us on Bama’s level and more about removing us from Tulane’s. The SEC, top to bottom, has fallen for it and done our dirty work at every step of the way.
Freezing cold take: the whole conversation about not playing UF in a bowl and now scheduling them is distracting and shifting the focus away from our season(s). Just feels a lot like the USF welcome to the big 3 billboard.
Except UCF has gone undefeated for 2 years and has been the best football program in the state. Us accepting 2 for 1 deals is not going to happen and Danny White has to respond when dumb ass athletic directors publicly say "why don't they just take a 2 for 1 with us?" In our own local paper.
I’d be cool with a home-home-neutral. I don’t love a 2-1, but would consider as absolute worst case with certain terms being included.
This. Last season, I was pumped to play AU and a bit nervous about the result. This year if we don't put up 30+ and win comfortably I'll be disappointed.
Yea, last year we weren’t even sure at this point if our coaches would be coming back for the bowl and were talking about having GOL come back to do the game plan and coach the bowl. I did not think we had a chance with all the distractions even though I was certain we would win if CSF was staying and everything was staying as is. This year I kinda feel like “been there done that” with the Fiesta Bowl and a multi loss SEC team.
But, we do have a backup QB. With Milton this is an easy W. I'm still thinking this is a 50/50 game because I just don't have a sample size on if Mack is legit enough to get it done
It's not really that I think we will kill them but it's just not an exciting matchup to play a lower ranked team who got shutout at home by bama. Without that random Georgia win, LSU isn't even ranked. Just not a game to be excited about.
I’m excited for any UCF game. LSU pumps out NFL talent at Alabama levels they just like to hire idiots at head coach. Honestly weird this thread has taken a we are too good for LSU approach because we are disappointed in UF bitching out on us.
I don't think we aren't "too good for LSU" it just doesn't feel like a payoff of an undefeated season.
Right, basically last year when we didn't make the playoffs we were "ok" with it. But 2 years undefeated and still left out is absurd and disappointing
Not only that but I would have been pumped to get a shot at Ohio State or Georgia or even Washington as a P5 Champion. But becuase of tie/ins we didn't even get that chance.
I can't think of many complete games he played this year that he dominated all game. Lifetime achievement award iyam
How far away from what Heup wants to run/ran at Mizzou, is what we are currently running? Obviously he left a lot of Frost's stuff in.
Again just because their program sucks doesn't mean they can't find a damn designer who knows how to use photoshop at that school. Christ. What are the dashes barely showing for? Why is the logo in the top like a powerpoint template? Why did they include ghosts of bulls that are definitely deceased and looking down like Mufasa and Simba? Why is he coming out of the stadium awkwardly? What's with the burning effects? I think they used 3 or 4 different fonts.
We had six OL commits and better prospects were being offered and coming on visits. It’s safe to say we didn’t give a shit about this one and probably had an idea he wouldn’t ever be a Knight.
From what I can tell the stuff they left in is mostly superficial. It’s looked like a totally different playbook. Counters up the middle over and over, lots of play action and deep balls. Not a ton of motion compared to frost and less option. I can only recall a couple of sweeps this year. Mack seemingly has way better pocket presence and seems to be more patient, hes a lot taller and has a much stronger arm. I highly doubt he’ll be as good at throwing on the run or recovering broken plays, but otherwise... if he can get his timing down (more reps) he could be pretty nasty with this offense.
I’ll trade the throwing on the run for what is basically a guaranteed converting every short down yardage
