That's still it no matter what. To a rival in a game that mattered. No one cares about exhibition games. I think rothlesberger lit us up for 49-0 at halftime once.
At this point I almost dont know if thats coaching or guys are just not good at winning their matchups and getting off their blocks to move up to make a play. Like it cant always be "dont cover the tight ends across the middle" unless Shannon is always trusting a guy is going to come up and make a play and no one ever does
This is where I'm at. I think the offensive identity is too important to bring in an unknown. Just fix the defense. Although I would take Frost back in half a heartbeat. I think hes still the right guy who is just in a bad no-win situation.
Not if Chins comes with him. Those guys couldn’t recruit on the lines to save their fucking lives. Our current situation is largely their fault because we can’t win in the trenches.
The team just doesn’t seem to have any leadership on the player side and I dont know if that is even something that can be coached. if confronted with a little adversity, they all just fold
Exactly. There just didn’t seem to be a “guy” on either side of the ball this year that when adversity hits, is like like “don’t worry guys, we still got this”. and then back it up with their play
I’m pretty sure they all have year to year contracts except Heup, but maybe I’m wrong. Hoping he just “retires.”
Correct. Danny hired him as DC to give credibility to the Heupel hire and take some off his plate as a first time head coach.
My understanding was more “we’re going to have a first year head coach so let’s get Randy Shannon to help them out.” That person just ended up being Heupel.
And apparently a bunch of our defense (what was left of it) was in quarantine for the two weeks during bowl prep and only got a couple practices in before the game. Awesome. Maybe we should have just cancelled the game?
I think they got way too into the whole we didn't cancel any games like it was something amazing. It was always a pointless game but now it hurts you going into next year.
As much success as athletics have had I really didn't feel good about covid. Doesn't feel transparent and the idea that everyone is being responsible with attendance feels ridiculous
Don't get me started about our athletic department and how they handled covid. The university policy of no groups specifically excluded athletics which is just garbage. We've given up way too much power to athletics and its not a good path to go down.
I think the biggest thing for me is repeatedly asking for money in such a tone deaf way when this all started. Asking people to convert their total 2020 season tickets into 100% donations as an athletics drive I thought was just super gross. Maybe at LEAST have donations going to other causes or something that didnt feel as if athletics is all that matters. But just saying "you know what...just give us all of the money for nothing" was tone deaf as hell. And this is after hiking the tickets to ridiculous levels last year. Then pretending like our fans are unique and are totally covid compliant. Yeah...sure. Whatever you say. They have my 2020 payment as a rollover to 2021 but Ill probably just have it refunded. No way tickets are in high demand next season (and I mean this across most of college football/sports).
I think a lot of it had to do with south Florida recruiting too. DW didn’t want those south Florida kids to see Frost in his new red polo and end up with him in Nebraska instead of here so he got the one dude that can recruit south Florida by his name alone
WRONG. Never again will I see my alma mater have the national player of the year on either side of the ball. This season absolutely happened
Between the playoff bubble and the early season, I’ve watched more nba recently than I have since I was in college and the magic had their run. Tuning into my first CBB game this year and it is....difficult to consume.
Pretty much the only things cbb has going for it are arena atmospheres and March madness drama. The sport itself has always been rough to watch. Now take away the atmospheres and it's unwatchable.
Watching this replay is infinitely more enjoyable. 2001 #Miami Hurricanes werr absurd. I remember my best friend being a obnoxious Cane fan and I wanted Nebraska to win this so badly.
We are one really solid scorer away from being a top 25 basketball team. Relied way too damn much on Perry, who is hot garbage.
i just discovered the blackboard theme after months of thinking "man i wish this board had a dark theme." thank you.
Nixon leaving. Seems like he needed a healthy season to get drafted but maybe he can find himself a spot somewhere.
