Holy Shit we look terrible and so does Temple. Now way either team is shooting over 15% right now. So many missed layups.
Fine. Screw him. Don't like how athletics had handled covid. Tone deaf as hell. Stop asking me for money. He can hire good coaches though. Surprised he didn't go to Duke.
It's not just the coaches. The branding, the positioning in cfb landscape, the fundraising, the athletics construction projects. He nailed it 90% of the time.
Eh, it's been pretty meh since like what? The late 90s/early 00s? It's not a very desirable place to play for athletes IMO. I really don't see it as the best place he could have landed career wise. Who knows what they're paying him though - "An offer he couldn't refuse..." is the headline I saw so I assume it's substantial. I will give him credit, he did great things at UCF and has positioned us well for years to come. Just hope the next guy doesn't fuck shit up. I agree the last year+ could have been handled better.
Basketball potential with limited football expectations in a great area. So much better of a landing spot than Arkansas level schools
So how long before he get anmesia and stops pushing for lowly guys like us and Cincy for the playoffs? Tuesday?
Great fundraiser, promoter, etc. Hired Frost and some solid other hires but Heupel stinks and Dawkins has been underwelheming. Not sure he's what a blue blood like Tennessee needs because I'm sure donations are already high. I feel like he would do better at a middle of the road P5 school with loads of potential where he can drum up donations.
Guys seriously this is good news and of absolutely no surprise. He's been trying to get out all year.
Sorry should say a school in a state that cares about nothing more than their college football program.
I'm ok with him leaving and getting that sweet buyout cash but I worry our next hire might be incredibly shitty. School is in bad shape and we're going to waste our best QB ever.
Uh yeah, all of them will. He can’t beat Phillip Montgomery and Luke Fickell, I don’t think he’s going to do so great against collectively the best staffs in CFB.
The idea of Rocky Top booing the shit out of their team when they commit 9 straight false starts might be worth it.
Bama, Florida, Georgia, LSU obviously firm no disasters. I’d put Auburn and Texas a&m in the non disaster bucket, either of them could fuck around and make the playoff (obviously TAMU close this year). Although I hated that auburn hire. The rest are never going to win shit in the current form of college football. I think Josh Heupel would instantly be a bottom 3-5 ish coach in that conference. The guy can not win unless he has a lead and the offense is in cruise control. The slightest hiccup or a string of stops by the defense and the train just de-rails.
Was saying it tounge and cheek as really no one is happy since no one else is winning the conference. So it's a disaster by ridiculous standards.
Yeah...college football kind of sucks currently. I would at least get some enjoyment out of the same teams winning every year if they just paid the players. At least we wouldn’t have to hear about AD’s spending millions on bowling alleys and movie theater’s while some of the athletes families are getting crushed by poverty.
Give me Lebby as HC 24K as OC Keep Randy as DC I guess Keep Kodi Burns as WR coach Fire Toth. Into the sun.
Not so fast, the last deal Huepel took said if Danny leaves his buyout gets cut in half. That seems kinda shady in hindsight
Buyout was already halved because he reached 2020. It was a “the buyout gets cut in half if either DW leaves or he reaches 2020” thing. But it doesn’t have halve twice.
