Hey, brothers from other mothers! Welcome to the Big(ER) 12, bayyyybeee! Ps- Pls be gentle on us when you come to Motown. We have been burned before in relationships and are not ready for a rough fucking. be gentle
I think it may have …not sure if DW being AD completely knocks us out but he is not liked by his peers so it could have been bad. current AD and Gus are more connected & I have noticed they have tried to distance the Program from the Natty claim the last several months .
I think no more DW probably helped, honestly. Also: 1. We should still schedule USF for Black Friday every season 2. The Knight Flicks and ESPN+ videos were both fun to watch. 3. Hopefully BYU going from independent to in a conference opens up some slots on calendars that we can fill with our out of conference schedule. I also wouldn't be opposed to most years having an OOC schedule of USF, FIU/FAU, and an FCS team. I think I saw that the plan is for a 9 game conference schedule, right? Just make sure the USF home game is scheduled for the years where we have 5 conference road games.
If ADs are doing their jobs, making those types of decisions whether or not you like the other AD is being terrible at your job. It's one thing if its borderline but another if you are trying to save your conference. The Big XII did not have all of the leverage here. They had to act.
Disagree on scheduling USF the same weekend , You don’t elevate them . If the game goes OOC it is done like fau/FIU in September . I think the next few games will get ugly with dirty hits and the series will take a few years off
This "we're building an OCS" by USF people is hilarious. Its a nice attempt at a distraction but either they build a smaller, shittier version of our place or they never build anything.
I’m fine with dropping them from the schedule and letting them find a new rivalry with FAU or some shit. It’s Shakespearean irony at its best.
They’re jizzing their pants at one board member basically saying “we totally need to build a stadium” At best they’ll get a smaller version of FAU’s stadium which is just a smaller version of our stadium for like 5x the cost.
Playing in the Big 12, there's a decent chance we end up playing away games on Thanksgiving weekend in a cold weather city. I think back to when our guys played in the snow at SMU in 2013 and struggled like crazy and damn near lost to a sub-.500 team. That definitely would have put a damper on our one loss 2013 Fiesta Bowl winning year. If we schedule an annual Thanksgiving weekend game in Florida, that eliminates the possibility of a cold weather game happening that weekend. It's also guaranteed to have great attendance, and a fun atmosphere. It's also likely to become a fairly easy guaranteed W at a time of year when we could stand to rest some of our starters in preparation for conference championships and (hopefully) playoffs. I'm all for dunking on these idiots, but I'd rather give our guys a chance for an easy W against a rival, either at home or a short drive away (at a stadium that our fans can fill pretty easily and take over).
Also another perk, since its out of conference the only way this game would have an affect on our season is if we are pretty much undefeated by that point, and that would mean we are really good. So almost no chance of them having the ability to ruin a season.
I just think USF has more to gain in those games, really. UCF is currently where the delusional USF folks thought they were years ago. I also enjoy dunking on them whenever given the opportunity, but I think that giving them the satisfaction of a potential upset win validates their batshit crazy beliefs. Leave them in our wake and watch us play legit competition while they play the Florida Atlantics and UL Monroe’s of the world. There is no way better to treat them as little brother than to not give them the attention that they crave from us.
Never realized USF thinks they are a much better academic school than us and our school is full of retards. I got into USF in 2 weeks and was waitlisted for like a month for UCF. Most entering college kids dont care about endowment.
I get those whole leave them behind POV but I really think its more fun playing them. Rivalries are fun and there are plenty of examples of other in-state games that continue even with conference gaps. Like LSU vs. Louisiana-Monroe or something. Not a rivalry but in-state is fun. I'm good with fun.
USF certainly has more to gain, especially with us filling their stadium, but who cares? They are garbage and will be garbage most years. Lets kick their ass and let them never forget.
Its so embarrassing. Of course - it’s USF that doesn’t want the Big 12. They’re waiting on the ACC or B1G to call them up
It wouldn’t have mattered if DW was here. Like who else they going to get if this move is to bolster their cred to remain a power 5? Really the only other team it could have been is boise. They going to be petty enough to go for a much smaller media market and bi yearly trips to bum fuck nowhere instead of just take UCF?
I saw that on the video and didn’t catch who it was. I had this brief thought hoping it wasn’t some side piece and ESPN just put it on air. Now I see that was some six piece.
Seeing as we are on the precipice of the biggest event in UCF athletics history, I feel compelled to share my very first memory of our football team. Moved into the dorms, heard that some people were listening to the game in one of the common areas of another dorm (I was in Seminole at the time so it was probably Apollo, and yes I am very old, this was 1997). Went and listened to the last half of the season opener against Ole Miss, where Daunte fumbled the ball as he tried to score the 2-point conversion that would have won the game in OT. Lost 3 games to Power 5 schools that year by a total of 10 points. I've been hooked ever since, even through the years when I could barely turn on the TV for how bad we were. What a crazy fucking roller coaster its been
My first memory was my freshman year and Daunte's second game for us. I was never into college football in high school but went down to the citrus bowl for the game. I had heard a lot about him prior to the season starting but didn't really know enough about college football to understand how crazy it was that he was playing for us. He was a freshman quarterback and still as big as anyone else in the huddle back then. Been a fan ever sense. Lived through all the gut wrenching, snatching defeat from victory growing pains we went through. Ole Miss, Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech (was in person for that one). I remember following the Alabama game on the computer constantly hitting refresh because there was no tv for it and couldn't believe it when the kick actually went through and the computer said final. Back then we always thought we were building towards this moment, we were called a sleeping for 20 years. Never imagined it would take this long to get here, but it almost makes it even sweeter.
My first memory was an FAU game in 2003 or whatever. Went with a buddy and my mom came up to visit that weekend as well. It was touch and go early if I recall, but we pulled away comfortably. Good old Ryan Schneider.
First game I went to I believe was the Ohio HC game in 04 where we missed the XP in OT. First game I really remember hearing about UCF was PSU in like 02/03 where they almost won.
First game was UCF/USF My sister and her bf were at the Marshall game the year before when I was in high school, which was her first game.
