From what I can tell, the defense isn’t great, their passing game is rough, their running game is solid. Their QB looked awful throwing the ball against Ole Miss.
Our DBs aren’t great. I’m a little worried about it, but we don’t have too many tough games to worry about, and only Memphis and SMU are pass heavy offenses. We match up well with Louisville and Cincy.
We seemed to be ok when we were playing man defense the other night, but we were giving them way too much room and respect when we played zone. We certainly don't look great in the secondary, and the DL needs to get in the backfield more like they did against Boise, but I think we hurt ourselves giving up lots of short stuff against BCU because we conceded that to them most of the night.
I think a lot of it was intentionally keeping everything in front of them to not give up big plays. A lot of if was keeping the defense pretty vanilla with few stunts and blitzes. But ultimately yea, the DL needs to actually finish and get the sack, and the DBs need to be able to actually fucking cover someone. Looks like we have lots of work to do in recruiting on defense. Im surprised Jaiden Francois is apparently so mediocre that he didn’t even see the field during garbage time.
seen a couple of quotes from KZ and you can see how it is hitting him how different the Program culture is up in Tally
I think it was Saban that said he wasn't going to be dismissing players from his team because they are better off getting their second chance and graduating than being on the street. DUI is super shitty and I hope he feels terrible. But I'm very ok with second chances. Found it:
Watched Our Time. Not bad but knight flicks is actually better produced. But hey it’s ESPN+. Too much Bianchi. Gus just seems wonderful. Also did Gus go grey in a matter of like 3 weeks in august?
I think it’s still our people filming and producing it and ESPN is just putting it out, but I don’t have anything to back that up. Also I wish we had a mic on Gus like the entire game, he is gold on the sideline. Put a mic on his wife too, she seems great to hear candid also one of the stories posted in here he addressed it and basically said that Auburn and the SEC is such a pressure cooker that he was dyeing his hair to look younger. He stopped when he got here because it’s not that type of pressure. It’s things like this that make me believe him when he says he is here for the long run. Him and his wife seem to be having a blast here
You don’t want kristi mic’d up. I said it in the game thread against Boise but i still believe UCF is a perfect fit for Gus.
I will definitely be disappointed in Adidas merch, but Terry should go for it if it is a better deal for UCF. Nike wasn't giving us the same merch as other black/gold schools anyway. Vanderbilt had a much better Nike collection than what was offered at UCF. My only concern is that most Adidas schools are primarily Red/White, with Miami/ASU having some black and GA Tech having some gold. Do we also have some bias towards Adidas because of O'Leary and his vanilla uniforms? I hated that khaki/gold.
Unless its massively different you absolutely can and should. We're about to see massive bumps from new conference plus increased donations and ticket sales. Taking an extra mill or two but looking worse and hurting yourself in recruiting just isn't worth it.
I’d rather have $0 and stay with Nike than switch to adidas. Look at this concept that they came up with for nc state week 1 with the horrendous pin stripe. Sweet helmet too with Tuffy’s hat color blending in with the rest of the red. This is EVERY week, it’s so try hard.
Is Under Armor not an option? Adios sweet space game jerseys. Also 100% chance adidas makes Citronaut throwbacks cringy AF
Guys…think about how many Nike reps Joe Hornstein probably blew to get us out of this. We can’t go back.
I looked at some article that was like "aTm's top five uniforms from this decade" and hoo boy those were fucking horrendous. I think the top Adidas schools are aTm, Nebraska, and Miami. They're talking about adding us as one of their premier schools. Really not happy with this and I think it's solely an effort to maximize dollars in the door with little regard for the intangibles associated with this deal (e.g., recruiting).
If they have a robust NIL plan then I'm open to it. I don't think they've signed any other major deals since NIL passed. I could see that being a big deal.
Thats all every AD looks at and its always so short sighted. Athletics departments being good ol boys clubs create this only dollars matter view and ruin everything.
I think my main question is why this would happen so quickly with Terry. Did Adidas just call him day 1? Just seems like a drastic change to make so soon into your tenure.
I don't think Nike actually designs our space game uniforms, at least not fully. We've got a roster of pretty talented contractors that pitch in on it (I work with some of them on another project).
Jeez, Ucf has consistently had some of the best unis in football since joining Nike. Moving to back adidas is super disappointing
