meanwhile we play USF in an elimination game today at 3 pm (baseball tournament)

 

12-0 over USF, looks like us versus ECU tomorrow in the semis to go to the conference final against Houston or Memphis.

 

Marc was saying in the radio feed how a win tomorrow and Sunday could go a long way for us possibly hosting a regional

 

I do wonder how much weight the NCAA gives to "lower" conference champions.
Would be great, otherwise we end up in the death trap Gainesville or Tally regionals like usual.

A few things to address re: baseball

1. AAC is not a lower conference per se. #4 conference in RPI, ahead of PAC and B1G.

2. FSU hasn't really been discussed as a host given that they had a mediocre season by their standards and only won two series in ACC play. They have a high RPI though mainly because of beating Louisville three times in three games (inexplicably). They may sneak in, but I still think it's unlikely.

3. If we win the tournament, there's a very good chance we get the host bid and end up with FSU coming to us.

4. We have to beat ECU twice tomorrow to make it to the championship. Not sure we'll see Sheridan pitch tomorrow either, so it will be Pimentel or Thompson starting game 1, which is not good given how hot ECU is.

5. If ECU wins the tournament, we are likely a five bid league, which is impressive considering we're an 8-team league.

At-large bids are announced Monday at noon, so we will see for sure at that time.
