Was told there was a chance of this happening a couple days ago. with the way the world works it’s a good move for castellanos. It’s evident plumlee is #1 for whatever reason. And then he has to compete next year. there is some tension in the locker room with some players not wanting plumlee as well.
he told everyone like 48 hours ago he was the future of the Program..that is some gaslighting there is more stability in Pro Sports , sudden flip flops like that in public isn’t going to help w Kingdom NIL trying to get more donors
Yeah that’s my annoyance. 3 people entered at the same time so maybe Gus told them to start looking elsewhere?
No it is probably bc we had 1 more practice after the spring game Tuesday I doubt that is the case w Tommy
How do NILs work typically as far as payment is concerned? Is it up front or if you transfer, etc. can they opt our of paying the player and such.
It’s wild Wild West. A lot of kids getting screwed by shady NIL shit since it’s basically unregulated
I mean brightside is he sucked in limited action so his bust potential is high. But don't want to lose young guys that soon before you find out. The other two I assume weren't going to play either.
This is great news, IMO. JRP is not the guy. Timmy doesn’t appear to be there yet either. Gus can go find his new QB in the portal with the defense that he had to go find someone regardless. We can look to upgrade from a QB room that was just not good before losing Castellanos. And from what I had seen of Castellanos, he was never going to be the guy. He’s probably better suited for some MACtion or AACtion.
I don't know man. I never saw a single thing from Castellanos that made me think he was ever going to be the guy. He had the opportunity to beat out JRP this spring, and from everyone I've spoken to it wasn't even really a close competition. Worst case is Gus goes and finds a replacement level QB in the portal that would be our #2 or #3 guy. JRP starts for us, as he would have even if Castellanos stayed. So basically, it's the same exact position we were in going into the spring. Best case is Gus can use this as an excuse to hit the portal and bring in a new QB, and he's probably burning up his contacts to convince someone he likes more than JRP to jump into the portal and come be our starter. Hell, he might even want to bring in two QBs just in case JRP ends up getting drafted in baseball. When you add that Hinshaw has taken over the offense and wants more of a downfield passing threat, I don't really think any of our guys have the arm that we're looking for. Gives him a chance to pick someone he actually likes. QB is by far our weakest link on offense. This gives the staff a chance to take a stab at a new candidate for the starting spot.
It seems obvious he was told he won't be the guy and they may have suggested a red shirt. He's not shown anything to make this into a big deal. Players leave all the time. Let's see where he lands. Maybe we can get that kid at Texas that will never play but looked good in spring.
No, he would have played in the spring game if he was. I honestly don't think it's going to matter at the end of the day. He was a last minute backup plan when Singleton went to Arkansas. He's a depth guy at best.
I’m just giving you crap. That could very well be so. I just feel like the overarching trajectory of our football program has been on the downward slide since Gus took over (actually, since Heupel’s last year). At the end of the day, I still feel that TC HAD to have been as good, if not better than JRP. Feels like a sucky loss but I don’t pay close attention to spring ball anymore.
you're not alone. this is how I feel, there is just a weird feeling about our Program right now until Gus actually proves he isn't a retread . Recruiting kind of gets negated if your QB situation is a disaster. we got a Big 12 invite and yet things look unstable
Honestly, as an entire Athletics Department we feel unstable. Football, hoops, baseball and an AD that’s kinda meh to top it off.
I mean we definitely need to find a QB but so does like most of the country. Its a hard position to make work. We got super lucky we hit on Milton and Gabriel. We pretty much never hit back to back. Overall the talent level is better than ever. I think we need to upgrade some of the coaching and our S&C seems to be behind P5 programs still too. If we ever had a good NIL program we'd probably compete for B12 titles within 2-3 years.
Yes but if Gus goes to the Gasparilla Bowl in year 3 with this level of recruiting…well, I’ll have seen all I’ve needed to see.
JRP is garbage but TC looked worse every time I’ve seen them in similar situations. We just don’t have a good QB. That’s on Gus, but it’s not like it’s easy to find a good QB. Pretty much everyone is looking for one. Before Milton just think about the shit we put up with at QB. Moffett, Israel, Calabrese, Hodges, Greco, Holman, et al. Some of them were sought after recruits, but ultimately just all a pile of shit.
I actually debated putting him on the list because he wasn’t a huge pile of shit. He was just a little bit of a turd with his 17:12 TD/INT ratio.
Not writing him off but he doesn’t appear to be the guy right now. I do get the sense he’s more of a game-day player, which might not help his case.
I remember when they both were at the Stanford game. Hope she gets to do a tell all. She's probably like our 4th most famous alumnus
Women's track obliterated everyone else at the Outdoor Track Conference Championship. 1st Place - UCF 2nd Place - Houston 3rd Place - Cincy 4th Place - USF Maybe next year, USF! Your best competition will be gone.
USF football on-campus stadium finally has a budget and debt estimate Committee meeting documents reveal the first concrete budget for the Bulls’ proposed stadium. The USF proposed on-campus football stadium finally has an initial price tag: $340 million. That’s according to the agenda of a board of trustees finance committee meeting set for Tuesday. USF will seek approval to take on $200 million in debt over 20 years, with an expected taxable fixed interest rate of 5.5%. The debt will be secured by liens on revenue streams like ticket sales, concessions, parking, merchandise, advertising and non-gameday uses for the stadium. Other non-stadium revenues listed include paydays from guarantee games, conference distribution money and corporate sponsorships. The other $140 million will come from the school, according to the agenda item. Here’s the breakdown: · $50 million from the USF Foundation · $31 million from the capital improvement trust fund · $34 million from auxiliary funds and proceeds from the 2017 auction of TV broadband · $25 million in cash, contingent on closing a sale of broadband licenses. No state funds would be used on the project under this proposal. The $340 million price tag is more than what other peers have spent on recent stadiums. Colorado State’s Canvas Stadium opened in 2017 for $220 million ($272 million, adjusted for inflation). San Diego State’s Snapdragon Stadium cost $310 million ($318 million in today’s dollars) and opened last year. UCF spent $54 million ($79 million in today’s dollars) on what’s now called FBC Mortgage Stadium when it debuted in 2007. The Bulls aim to build the 35,000-seat structure north of the practice fields. The design process is underway and has recently moved from the idea-gathering phase. USF plays at Raymond James Stadium but wants to move to its own home in time for the 2026 season. The project is also expected to include a football operations center, among other items. The agenda item sheds some light on what had been the biggest unknown in a project campus officials say will be transformational for the entire university. USF had not said a dollar figure privately or publicly. Earlier this year, the Bulls said they did not have a funding or financing plan yet. The board of trustees has only allocated up to $22 million to design the project. Barton Malow and Populous are leading the design-build team. The board must still approve the final cost. Its next full meeting is scheduled for June 13.
Going to have to go on the road to play pay games to pay for the stadium they play 5 times a year in. Amazing.
I like this part... · $50 million from the USF Foundation... followed by... Earlier this year, the Bulls said they did not have a funding or financing plan yet. 4 months, you go from no plan to $50 mil. clown shoes, and I love it
The deck is really interesting. They are projecting them somehow getting naming rights at about double our rate which has almost no change of happening. They are projecting double our intake in seating donations in a smaller stadium that will have less premium seats. This is someone trying to get to a number without any facts. But I guess they can't repo a stadium.
