With their OL and RB group, I feel like a middle schooler could be a competent OC at UGA next year so long as they don't over think things.
Not to get all Bama but they just need to run the ball behind that behemoth OL, getting away from that(and assuming they don’t look like ass again next year after the bowl game) is simply over complicating things
I feel the same level of ambivalence to Coley being named OC as I did to Chaney leaving.
I would think this move is fine especially if he’s a good recruiter. UGA is at a level now where it just comes down to if he can call a good game vs Bama imo.
Florida is really the only team in their division that can give them a run. Tennessee is still a few years away.
Ron Howard voice: “He can’t.”
My 2 cents:
+Really good at breaking down film and prepping for a game. Clearly can script with the best.
+Personable guy that can connect on the recruiting front.
+Hungry coach that wants to impress.
-Can’t adjust his O in game once it’s figured out.
-Will run certain things over and over trying to get the big play. At Miami that was outside zone runs. 10 would go for 0 yards and then finally one would break for 50.
-Will get “cute” at times with tricks and gimmicks which can be maddening as a fan.
+-Pretty hit or miss on evals. He did find and get Kaaya, but the rest of the QBs he recruited sucked.
Overall, I never liked him much. But can’t say I hated him either. Would not be happy with him as OC tbh. Hopefully he’s improved for y’all.
This is not a shot against you by any means, but I feel like every fan base (us included) says this about their OC.
Ha I feel you. And trying to remain unbiased here, Coley is next level with it. He loves that shit.
Like someone said in the thread I believe. He ran an absurd HB pass in the snow with the game on the line. That’s bad. But even worse when everyone on the field is in the snow for the first time in their lives.
these are my thoughts exactly. could script an opening drive TD with the best of them but couldn't make a halftime adjustment to save his life.
There's a quote out there that some coaches can adjust to what the defense is doing in between drives, others can do it during half time, and then there are coaches who recognize the necessary adjustments during film review on Sunday. Coley is definitely the 3rd guy.
Looking back he was actually decent at Miami though. The offense got a lot worse under Richt. Georgia could have definitely done better but I think he'll do just fine there with all the talent they have.
Hearing Miami describe Coley is essentially like listening to UGA fans describe Chaney.
We replaced Chaney with cheaper Chaney.
Literally half a chaney
How much time do you got?
His playcalling is as inconsistent as the NBA's Jeff Green.
Lol at Shawn giving an opinion on Gran as if anyone cares anymore
Yeah but does he have any plays where the kicker is the lead blocker?
Do you have a team thread? Have a some travel questions for our honor duel next September.
Youre on your own. We all hide out in the private board
There’s one buried somewhere. Probably your best shot unless you just want to start a new thread.
Never too early for our game thread
Tennessee had a new defensive back target on campus on Monday, according to sources.
Georgia defensive back Deangelo Gibbs, who left the Georgia football team last month, was in Knoxville visiting the Vols as he seeks a transfer destination.
What a waste of time this kid is.
He’s awful. Biggest pain in the ass of the Kirby era
He’d have been gone prior to this season if Divaad Wilson doesn’t get hurt.
Good luck with him Tennessee
Pruitt's further priming himself for the slugfest with Kirby in the East before his ultimate takeover.
Can't wait for Dabo to say no to us a few years from now only to turn around and hire the next best coach in the SEC (after Nick).
The second best coach in your conference is a guy whose career record is 5-7? Yikes
He's on the upswing
