I really want to go there sometime. I follow them on instagram and have been hearing great things for a while. Also, the catfish at Buxton Hall was out-fucking-standing.
Yeah it is. Fried catfish is my all time favorite food, and there’s is up there with the best I’ve ever had.
All of my Savannah/St Simons/Sea Island friends talked up Southern Soul like it was god’s bbq gift to man and I was wholly underwhelmed.
Better than Fox Bros? I like their Brunswick stew. That's the one thing you can't get out here in ATX and the grits suck and biscuits are meh.
For sure. Fox Bros has great brisket (grading on a Ga scale), but you have to get it on a day they arent slammed or mailing it in. Also their wings are amazing too. Im also concerned their expansion will impact quality.
Fried rib is probably my favorite thing at Fox Bros. They just opened a new huge (20k ft2) space near me. Need to go check it out.
Sold our grand parents house on n homewood back in 18. Place was the jam. Mom still tells how mean they were to not let her go to private school. Tell her it toughen her up.
I will not stand for this Southern Soul slander, though I will admit that if you got the pulled pork, you fucked up.
Fox brothers is one of my favorite restaurants but I always get non traditional stuff. I feel bad buying traditional bbq out because I can cook an entire butt for the price of a pork plate. Never been out to Texas but watch Franklin's videos and use his recipes for everything. I even do my pork with heavy black pepper.
Half the folks I grew up with lived in there. Dr Crimes had that huge house on the corner in there that was blocked by trees. Not exactly the best description but you may know the one I'm talking about. It was enormous and hidden in there. He was the one who bought Camp Kelly from the YMCA off Mitchell Bridge to have River Shoals neighborhood developed. /fun fact.
Hell of an offer but no thanks. That's a bucket list thing for me I want to experience in person for the first time. Went to Rodney Scott in Atlanta the other day. Rodney was there and was the nicest guy ever. Had a great time.
Since there is no Cincy/Temple game thread and I don't see a '21 season CFB thread, I'll put it here. D'wan Mathis out here looking like shit tonight and I hate to see it. He was certainly not good enough to start here, but dammit I really wanted to see him move on and at least look good after all that shit he went through with those cysts.
Picked up a hat at Academy, and now I'm just walking into places I have no intention of buying things from just so I can show off my natty hat/world series shirt combo fit.
You think Kirby never would have won a title if he did not win the 2021 version? You made consistently wrong take after consistently wrong take this year. In October you thought Florida was a better team than Georgia. An El Tib word doc would be a bloodbath. And yet you are still going to deny the prowess of Kirby's recruiting.
You might have me confused with a different poster because literally none of those are things I’ve either thought or said. I DID say that Kirby was never going to have a better set up to finally win it all as he did this year, and that if he managed to blow it I couldn’t see him getting over the hump. There is nothing inaccurate about that.
Win or Lose last night, Kirby is not going anywhere. Dude is relentless in recruiting, and situated at a Top 5 program next to the 10th largest Metro area. There was no Now or Never. Its the Fundamentals, stupid.
He’s been a relentless recruiter from day one and had championship caliber teams before but couldn’t break through.
Thinking this would be Kirby's only shot if he didn't win last night is completely fucking absurd. You can count on one hand the number of even comparable program builders in the country right now.
He was a blown coverage away from 2 nattys in his first 6 years, and this was it if he didn't win it? That's just a ridiculously flawed take, dude.
Rose Bowl Win National Title Loss Sugar Bowl Loss Sugar Bowl WIn Peach Bowl Win Orange Bowl Win the end of Kirby was for sure near if he lost to Nick Saban last night. 5 Straight seasons ranked in the AP Top 7. Longest Active Bowl streak. But yea, Downwards Trajectory.
Because apparently even being fresh off a national championship win isn’t enough to get some UGA fans to overcome their collective inferiority complex, let me preface this by stating that UGA indeed earned their championship this year and the following is not intended to downgrade the achievement: Kirby has had more than enough talent on the UGA roster for at least the last 4 years to be able to win it all. This year, however, he had some luck — every championship team ever has some luck — that Bama was not at its peak, Clemson is in disarray and OSU wasn’t elite. The SEC East was absolute dog shit and Auburn really wasn’t very good. When playing equal (or comparable) talent, Kirby has never really shown himself able to get over that hump. If, having both the most talented team in the country on a year where the top obstacles had their share of flaws, he couldn’t break through, there was zero reason to expect that he would have been able to do so when the competition was at its top level. It’s hardly controversial.
Who said it was the end? The issue was whether he’d win it all, not whether he’d continue to have success. Jesus you guys are a sensitive lot. One title and you’ve all turned into Euro.
Apparently calling out a dumb take is an inferiority complex now. Good stuff. Good luck with Billy, tib.
