pretty amazing how they can't evolve their fiscal policy, or just adapt to past failings. more of the same that has created this gilded age 2.0
Now strengthening cannabis laws? The daily news coming from the current government reads like articles from the onion.
american republicans will have to find a new country to live vicariously through now that what they thought was their political brothers in england got exposed just like their own politics at home
Making a great success of that independence from Europe! We’re going to have 20 years of the Brits gradually rejoining a form of EU whilst the old pensioners who voted for it die off.
I know there are various reasons for it but it’s incredible that there’s been a decade of revolving shit shows and yet we’re going on a decade plus of Tory government
Conservatives do not care what shit their elected officials do, as long as they voted for them and the libs aren't in charge. Policies and actions literally don't matter to them. They're empty-headed assholes.
Actually the Brexit referendum was to try to “solve” the issue of Europe for the Tories as they were haemorrhaging votes to the right. The hope was to put it to bed for a generation via a vote and that of the 12% or so who voted for UKIP in 2015 that they’d win back half or more. Didn’t work very well. 2019 was based on “getting Brexit done” with many traditional Labour voters in the North of England switching to Tory. There are empty Tory votes for sure but there are also Labour ones. Many should have switched away from Labour to the Lib Dems in 2019 but would vote for any Labour candidate.
Resigning. Who didn’t see it coming. Just an unserious person. In a parliamentary democracy, PMs should never be chosen by party members.
can someone pretend they are talking to a person who has like a 70 iq and explain what happened with her not saying that person is me but the brits make no sense to me
1) Got elected by Tory party members because Tory’s will vote for an unqualified evil idiot white woman over a very qualified evil corrupt brown man. 2) Introduced a wave of tax cuts and spending cuts that caused the pound to crash (complicated) and cratered a lot of pension plans (also complicated) and pensioners (retirees) are about 80% of the Tory voting base 3) said she wasn’t going to change her mind 4) changed her mind and fired her finance head for doing the thing she said to do 5) hired new finance guy, rumors are he’s actually in charge, undoes her entire finance plan, raises taxes 6) says she’s not resigning, refused to go to parliament to answer questions 7) went to parliament looked like a twit 8) 4 high level Tories resign their posts 9) says she’s not resigning 10) resigns
Takes some background. 1. Boris Johnson wins landslide majority because Labour is led by a Putin apologist anti-Semite. Even though Johnson is deeply unpopular, Corbyn has worst ratings for an opposition leader ever. 2. Johnson, who is notoriously an unserious, vain, lying person, blows his huge majority with a series of scandals involving breaking lockdowns he imposed. 3. Johnson’s chancellor Rishi Sunak helps bring down Johnson. Johnson’s acolytes now hate Sunak. 4. In leadership contest, Johnson supporters throw all weight behind Truss who is notoriously dim witted and completely unprepared for the job. They do this despite the fact that she is a radical libertarian and her policies are nothing like Johnson’s, but do it simply because she was viewed as loyal. 5. Truss and Sunak make final 2 of leadership contest, and Truss wins. Truss cleans out all of Sunak’s allies and makes a cabinet of her supporters only. 6. Truss immediately starts proposing massive spending and tax cuts at same time creating a black hole in budget. Markets and international financial organizations react in horror. Tory MPs, most of whom didn’t support her to begin with, react with horror. 7. Truss throws her chancellor and her ideological soulmate under the bus to try and save her skin. 8. More incompetence flows in a variety of ways. The men in gray suits finally came today and gave her the revolver and a glass of whiskey.
