If that was the case I imagine the press release would say they’re exercising a clause.
I agree. Maybe that's why it does?
it seems like they are using Covid and lack of games to get out of the contract.
Where? I’m seeing they’re attempting to terminate or attempting to exercise. I don’t understand why it’s attempt if so
I must have glossed over that portion.
If that’s the case, why has all the wording from non-UA made it sound like they’re attempting to do something. If that clause was real, it’d just be announced the partnership is over.
Because UCLA is attempting to prevent it. You seem to be grossly oversimplifying contract law.
Awwww shucks the other guys backed out of our $280 million contract early. Guess we’ll just go quietly.
Said no one ever.
Ucla fans should look at the positives that will come from this - it should be an absolute boon for clearance rack t-shirts. Time to load up for the next decade.
I’m saying I’d be just as shocked at UCLA signing a deal that UA can just back out of. Is that enough grasp @20’s?
And I’m saying I, personally, can’t imagine UCLA signing a deal they can just get dumped out of. If so, how can UCLA even feign an argument?
Andy, I do believe that you have gotten lost in the sauce
UA appears to be claiming UCLA is failing to deliver on some marketing responsibilities. I don’t know what that means but it’s probably something specific and not just “ehh this isn’t really working out the way we hoped”
You can’t see two opposing parties disagreeing about whether or not current events meet the criteria outlined for one party to back out of a contract? You can’t understand how it may require a third party to rule on if UA is exercising a right outlined in the contract or violating the contract?
I regret nothing. I don’t fully grasp contract law, it just seems off that UA can just opt out of a deal like this. Why would UCLA Athletics sign it if so, they’re too dependent on that money to risk that IMO
I can’t understand why UCLA would sign a deal that UA can just back out of like this.
They make some good stuff.
Too bad that the guy that wrote the deal for UA couldn’t have also written up Chip’s contract
You can claim covid to do pretty much anything, fwiw. No rules of society are currently being applied.
I just tried to have sex with my wife by whispering Covid into her ear but she told me to isolate for two weeks and then try again.
If they are backing out of Cal too, I'd be a bit bummed. Cal had a contract with Nike for a long time, and Nike never gave a shit about Cal - they just put a swoosh on all their generic shit, colored it blue and gold, and thought we'd all be happy with it. I don't think I ever bought any Cal apparel with the Nike swoosh on it. Then UA came in, sent a team to scout the campus, and designed some cool shit based on what makes Cal special to Cal alumni and fans (the Sather Stripe, for example). UA actually seemed to give a shit about their clients, instead of expecting them to be happy with generic crap.
If it wasn't clear from the previous paragraph, fuck Nike
They aren’t going to just back out. Lawyers will get involved and there will be a buyout.
Dude don’t hate on Saucony. I own four pairs.
Zeke cancelled the Pac 12 about 6 years ago
Saucony makes great shoes.
Nike shit has gotten pretty generic. They even blatantly mail it in on their major clients at times.
Who are their major clients?
I hate you.
I'm surprised that UCLA even got this deal. Nobody gives a shit about UCLA in LA. I live on one of the busiest shopping districts in Southern California and I see more Michigan hats than UCLA hats. That should yell you something.
So did I, and I lived in Westwood
let’s all listen to the guy who was too dumb to get into usc and had to go to an sec school.
says the Oregon fan
Sometimes you chum the waters just knowing that you'll get a bite
Look at how mad this guy is, he brings a personal attack without all of the facts.
yes and you certainly bit
Smh, a public ivy alum cant differentiate between blue and green. Sad.
During the Howland Final Four run, it was a pretty big deal. It’s just LA, you suck for awhile nobody cares.
The fucking Berkeley bench reaction lol
Oh I was fucking around about a TMB joke on how user SP1 justified how popular Michigan was based on the hats he counted in NYC.
That said nobody really cares about UCLA. I am sure if they started winning people would come out of the woodworks.
They came out of the woodwork when McNown was QB for the Buffet Bob teams, then quickly vanished again once UCLA started sucking again
you dummies are proving snowfx2 ‘s point. LA fans suck.
Saturday night's for piling on
what’s your wife and mom got to do with this?
An all time RB vs RB cfb duel with Marshawn vs Maurice Jones-Drew in the greatest cfb stadium in the world.
I know Joe Ayoob threw a late INT to seal the loss, and I know it was Tedford's decision to keep punting to MJD, but I've never wanted to flay and gut a special teams coordinator more than I did after that game. I can still see that fucking meathead's fat fucking face, even if I can't remember his name.
Edit: Pete fucking Alamar
UCLA was a weird beast that year. I'm not sure any team has ever won 10 games in a season before while giving up 410 fucking points
