Always been shit. Just took awhile that their gimmicky PA announcements, their asinine boarding processes, their archaic systems all caught up to haunt them at the worst time, bad weather while traveling over the holidays.
i got 25k points too. was using points to fly to chicago on southwest for new years and just decided not to go--not really anything to do with the shut down--and they sent me 25k points can go to chicago in january or febraury nonstop from houston for like 5k points each way. thanks for the two free roundtrip flights pimps
Yeah it’s more than 3x the points I actually used on the flights. We’ll see what they do for expense reimbursement.
For anyone who is effected by this or something similar, it always pays to check the benefits through your credit card used to purchase the flight. The Chase Sapphire card has insurance offers when a flight is delayed more than 6 hours and will cover hotel and other costs when its cancelled.
I'm a big dummy and paid the 9/11 fee with SW credit instead of the CSP. Because what could possibly have gone wrong? Trip insurance has bailed me out numerous times. Never doing that again.
My question is can their inflight Wi-Fi systems provide bandwidth to handle the demand of a plane full of devices?
I think that's a valid question, I know they've spent the last 6 months adding antennas to the existing planes in preparation for this
My guess will be the free Wi-Fi sucks ass to the point where you’re forced to buy the “better” one or not use it at all
I'd guess email and very light browsing. You're not going to be checking data heavy websites or watching YouTube on it for sure.
From that same thread I'm former ramp for the other WO AA carrier. That might be on some LMS slide in training, but in practice as soon as the plane comes to a complete stop everybody tries to chock the tires and start unloading. We would have had no real way of knowing whether the APU was deferred or not. In my experience, it's usually not particularly hard to notice if an engine is still running but when I started I made the mistake of walking around the back of a 175 when an engine was idling (whether the APU was deferred or not, I'll never know) and got blown across the ramp
This person is a fucking dumbass who worked for some shit people. It is absolutely communicated to ground ops if something like the APU is deferred. The office knows these things, so it would be on the supervisors or whatever to communicate that to the rampers.
Yeah they literally told us in multiple ways that the APU was out. Radio, paperwork, and inflight data system reports.
I'd be happy with texting (not just imessage, so I can text non-apple users), ability to update social media apps (twitter), and be able to send emails + check my sports app.
I knew some t mobile numbers so used to get free wifi for an hour. Couldn’t watch videos, but could about do everything else. Which is plenty. Can watch videos and live tv on delta studio which is a bunch But some of the real old 737’s they recently got holy cow you ain’t doing shit on them. Have like the 4 inch screen from the 90s
Update: girlfriend received four more drink coupons from southwest this past week. I have yet to receive any.
That's awesome. I've been happy they lowered the price to $5. It was "free for Skymiles members" last flight. Assume they were testing bandwidth after recent upgrades
I flew United earlier in the month and it starts at $25 but gets cheaper as you get closer to your destination. Then flew Delta and thought the $5 was a glitch. Pleasantly surprised. I mean, planes are closer to the satellites, it makes sense. Obvious.
Been sitting on a southwest flight in Denver for over an hour because operations can’t establish an accurate passenger count. The captain came out and told everyone to tweet southwest.
my last overseas trip had 3 different instances of 30ish minute long delays after pushing away from the gate because "British Airways was having trouble sending over the necessary passenger paperwork"
You can use points for other stuff like hotels and even gift cards I think on their site. You have to link out twice or so do do it, it’s not right on the RR page.
Southwest reimbursed all of my expenses, including cash for the 38k Marriott points I used for my hotel.
They only refunded me for my rental car and $100 out of the $120 I submitted for gas. No acknowledgement of my hotel points I had to use.
Well that’s a good sign. Have not yet been reimbursed for anything. Last I received was “we’re delayed but we’ll get to you”. But it’s nice to hear those are starting to roll out
Hotel confirmation with point usage, screenshot of point deduction from my account, and a dated screenshot of the cash room rate.
No one has died in a U.S. plane crash since 2009. Those people were more in danger driving to the airport.
To be clear, and I'm sure it's obvious to everyone, but this is NOT video of the incident. This is a flight sim recreation .
Even the audio is sped up and out of synch a bit. Not that anyone could, tell from that video. This give the actual real-time audio of it. Not much difference, but enough.
