Sure, I'll do the big pieces, but I'm not getting on my hands and knees to pick up popcorn when there's someone with a vacuum/broom around. I'll apologize, offer to help, etc, but I'm not getting on my hands and knees to pick that shit up.
Since we’re arguing inconsequential shit: can we refer to plane classes by their actual name and not “first class” unless it is the rare time it is actually first class being referred to?
That's specific to the CRJ550 (A CRJ700 with reduced seating). The 200 has 1 flight attendant but no first class.
We’ve reached the dbl complaining about hypothetically being on his hands and knees part of the program
On domestic routes, first class is still used. On long haul intl routes, it's referred to as Business Class. I think the only US carrier with long haul "first class" is AA with the 777 fleet. Those are going away soon though.
Hopefully this is ok to ask here, didn't read any of the 39 pages before this: Has anyone had any experience using the Same Day Change feature on award flights? I'm looking at an ORD-SFO award ticket in late July with a long overnight layover in Vegas, which normally would sound at least a little fun but is probably not the best idea after a bachelor party. My plan was to use the SDC option to change to a direct ORD-SFO flight 24 hours in advance of my flight. The flight would be on a Sunday night, so I'd make the SDC election Saturday and then look to switch to a direct Sunday afternoon / evening flight. As far as I can tell from my own research, this would be at either no additional cost if my original fare class for the award ticket still has availability, or would cost the difference in the fare classes - if the latter, does anyone have an estimate of what that might be? I'm Premier Gold and the reward ticket fare class is XN if that's helpful
bro might be able to help I only have limited knowledge of AAs system but you cannot change the routing. So if you're booked ORD-LAS-SFO, you can SDC but you have to do it in both ORD and LAS. I will say, ORD-SFO is a pretty popular route with UA so if you are able to change routing, you still might not get a seat. When I used to fly UA a lot, that route was always oversold.
Oh yeah, this is the shitty this airlines do thread. Anyone else see that Delta is upping the % that they can oversell a flight? That's cool. Definitely won't make anyone mad when they get told they can't get on their flight because it was oversold.
Don’t they routinely have the lowest bump rates in the industry? If they want to pay more volunteers piles of cash, more power to em
I don't see this as a huge issue. They said they are at 103% and probably will just got 1 to 1.5pts higher
It's not an issue until everyone shows up for the flight. Then you have pissed off people who want congress to step in because they've been wronged.
I gotta say the system AA has in place for oversold flights is pretty solid and weighted heavily in their favor. They present options to everyone when checking in that let you choose how much it will take to be rebooked. They can then review those that provided an answer and choose the lowest cost point per seat. I think Delta was pretty aggressive with their monetary amounts they offered to passengers when flights were oversold, and it so I don't anticipate it will be a huge issue.
Hmm good point about the route popularity. I’m pretty sure I’d be able to change to a direct based on some other stuff I read (there’s a big flyer talk thread about this), but if anyone has definitively not been able to do that I’d for sure like to know
Just unlocked gold. Haven’t used this yet. I’d maybe just call and ask or search around for fine print on the internet
Or don’t fly if you don’t want the chance of being on a plane with a baby crying. That’s the correct answer.
Need to go back to United's"men only" Executive Flights. https://www.mentalfloss.com/article/644331/united-airlines-men-only-executive-flights
I'm glad I fly delta where everyone is given headphones and all planes have in seat entertainment so you literally have zero reason to get mad at noises when you can drown them out.
I don’t fly a ton (maybe once a year) so it’s never been a huge issue for me to not have headphones. Previously I just didn’t want to drag my Beats headphones around. I now have AirPods so brought them on my flight a couple weeks ago and I’m not sure how I did it without headphones before.
Flying is the best naps. Sit down, throw on some noise cancelling headphones, suck in that extra oxygen they pump before takeoff and pass out before lift off and wake up upon being slammed back onto the ground.
I don't believe you've ever flown before in your life. Or at least the last 30 years. Like, none of that is real except for the noise cancelling headphones
You’re right. I’m not on the road on average 36 weeks a year and a maxed out level traveler at Southwest, Hilton, National and Premier Gold at United. I’m glad you’re on planes every night though keeping things safe and clean.
I don't need your resume. There is no domestic airline seat that is actually comfortable for a nap. They all are like, designed to hurt your back. And extra O2 pumped in?
1) you said I haven’t flown in the last 30 years 2) I can pretty much sleep anywhere so comfort is on a sliding scale 3) I know it’s not extra O2 but when they finally turn the vents on I always seem to get sleepy 4) You’re taking this thread pretty serious so I hope you have a wonderful day.
I'm sorry. When some says something incredibly stupid like they pump in extra O2 and that airplane seat are comfortable, it worries me that that person is a moron. But you showed me your airplane riding credentials, so you are definitely not a moron
I fall asleep on planes all of the time prior to takeoff. Also get woken up by landing all of the time. Comfort on a plane is not a problem unless you’re an oaf or flying a discount airline
This is really stupid. Countless people sleep on planes. I don't sleep well on planes, but I've napped on early morning flights and been able to doze off a bit on a red-eye. That's in economy. 1st class domestic is pretty comfy too
Did back to back red eyes (ATL -> LON , Full Day site seeing, LON -> Joburg -> Cape Town). Didn't sleep a single bit. Was nearly dead
I've only been able to sleep on one flight from JFK to China. I nearly overdosed on edibles and then slept for a long time. Was great. I've tried to recreate that level of highness, but haven't been able to
sleeping pills or tons of edibles normally just has be dozing in and out but really getting minimal "sleep"
Up until last year I've been flying on average of 3x a month since 2013. Also nap before the plan leaves the gate, although it's not a deep sleep. Pretty sure I've been recorded multiple times snoring and leaning against the windows.
