What's the latest with Dwayne Lawson, guys? February is the most recent article I can find about him. That says he should have been at school in June.
Think they said he had school to finish up and wouldn't be here till next year now. Past cases like this for us means he prolly won't make it here.
That's good. We should probably take a DE, too, but after taking like 7 DL's last class we're almost good for this one.
We have 54 freshmen or redshirt freshman on the team this year and 25 juniors and seniors combined. This season is going to be dogshit.
On a high note, Dudek is still really fucking good. Kid deserves it hope he has a hell of a year even though we are going to suck
Didn't see that coming at all. If half the USF team drowns this week, we could be 3-0 going into conference play
Isaiah Gay and Bobby Roundtree are the real deal, seemed like Gay was everywhere. Next year that defense could be really fun
I do want to murder Garrick McGee though. That play action pass to Henry McGrew was so awful. It was 3rd and 1 and instead of running he threw to a TE who has been a defensive player for 95% of his career.
So hopefully Crouch isn't starting when we got against Nebraska next week. I know the offensive line is bad, but I can't remember the last QB we had that looked this awful. Dustin Ward?
Also Lander Nolley had an in home with Underwood yesterday and decided to move his decision up from October 31 to October 7. Hope that's a good sign.
Underwood has an infinitely more impressive resume than Groce did, but it's kind of funny that fans are reacting the exact same way they did with Groce up to this point. There's obviously definitely more reason for optimism and I'd bet on Underwood being successful, but Illinois fans can jump the shark with the best.
No, the opposite. Everything he does is amazing and everything is awesome to most fans. He took a 3 star away from UIC and a Slovenian kid and fans wouldn't even think for a second that it was a bad move by a new coach trying to overhaul his roster ASAP. I was just making an observation that fans did the same exact thing with Groce. They loved his interviews early on and just lapped him up. They stuck up for the signing of Jaylon Tate. Now, Underwood's a completely different story. He's definitely a much better coach, but fans are slobbin on his knob without learning any lessons from the last time around.
Hope you guys get Dwayne Lawson next year. Really want to see what he can do once he "grows up". (I say this because every coach I've seen talk about him always says "he's got some growing up to do" in one fashion or another.)
Welp... sounds like Castleton to Michigan and Conditt to Iowa State, so that's a major disappointment.
Werner said on the radio a while back it was a done deal and the coaches have moved on, why they might take 3 QBs this class. Somebody tell John Beilein we don't have John Groce anymore so he can stop sticking it to us.
Brad said the negative stuff from the FBI investigation hurt with Castleton. I won't really lose sleep over losing Castleton or Conditt. Ayo, Nolley, and THT would be bigger blows.
Valtonen visiting until Thursday, Ayo comes in Friday through the weekend. Have to stop striking out and land these kids. Honestly it was shitty enough to lose to Georgia/Virginia Tech for Nolley, we can't be losing to ASU and Wake on these two.
Ayo making the visit is all the confidence that you guys should need in landing him but I do think Wake is better sell to Ayo in terms of playing with better talent. Fairly loaded outside of Ayo's spot.
Yikes. We need to land Ayo badly. If we do that, I feel like we can swoop in later for some good players. We took Chin solely for his mac irvin ties and Jamaal Walker to keep Tilmon and get Mark Smith... so yea. Better start landing some good players.
What a heaping pile of shit Lovie is. He fucking played a walk on RS FR at LB over Tre Watson for nearly the entire 1st quarter. It didn't take long for me to completely give up hope, but I'm there today thanks to this shitfest of a game. God damnit it sucks to suck.
Lovie still has a long leash tho, right? You kind of have to give him at least 3 more years to see if playing all these freshman pays off.
I agree. He'd make a good commentator , but he's an awful OC so far. But it's Lovie... he needed to make moves this offseason instead of holding on to Paul Williams and he didn't. Instead he hired a former player of his from a HS to replace McGarigle. I have no faith in him to be proactive about a thing.
