A 4-2-5 is a good defensive set if you coach against a pass happy team in the Big 12. It’s not necessarily a great defense to run if you are playing in the snow against a team that is going to pass four times in an entire half.
The entire season was an inexcusable lack of preparation on defense; both schematically and from a personnel standpoint. That includes for something as simple as the basic offensive scheme that Michigan runs and Oregon scoring four times with the exact same run play. They legitimately played a tight end at linebacker in the biggest game of the season for god knows what reason.
