I’ve been hearing that (1) he’s not liked by his teammates and he sulks during training, (2) he plays effectively against his own age group but not so much against grown ass men, (3) his talent set (a 10) doesn’t fit Pablo’s system. I thought Luna handled that interview very well. You can tell he’s not happy with what’s going on; yet he was fairly diplomatic and avoided expressing it. A lot of local observers speculate that (1) RSL signed him in order to sell him, (2) Pablo hasn’t played him much pre-WC because it’s kind of a waste until he gets back. When he gets back his playing time will be increased, especially if his WC is successful.
The attractive ball comment hits so close. So many times these tourneys are “we bomb forward because we’re bigger and faster than the opponents” that hasn’t been the case for a few years. Watching us build up out of the back, playing tiki taka at a U-20 WC, that’s pretty Fucking cool imo.
OH SHIT!!! I just saw Paredes and Pukstas are joining the team for knockouts! Huge pieces added, if these kids can tighten it up in the 18 they’ve got a shot.
Watch this video if you want to get angry about how many of his amazing set ups his teammates flub Edit- I see Dirtball has already covered this
Ah, that makes sense of it. I remember watching that match and thinking that our guys don't look bad, they had chances, but this French team is like two levels over us.
Call me crazy but u20 World Cup might be my favorite level of soccer. The moments of brilliance and terribleness come so close together that you can’t even blink
