He is going overseas apparently. Can't be a HGP if you join a team after playing for a US Youth Team beyond the U17 WC anyway..
I keep going back and forth on who I think the better prospect is with Sargent and Carleton. Carleton is probably the most technically gifted (non-pulisic) prospect we've had in a decade, but Sargent is such an intelligent player and an amazingly consistent finisher. (And is no slouch technically, either) who the fuck cares I guess
Been so good since he moved to wingback. He could make the squad for Russia as Yedlin's backup if he keeps it up
Not elfrid, but: Attacking players are easily the strength of the team. With Carleton, Sargent, Weah, and (to a lesser extent) Akinola, you could put our attacking corps up with about any team in the world on paper. Quite puzzled as to why we left Llanez off for Akinola, but Akinola isn't a bad player. Garces is a very good keeper for his age. Midfield is solid with Goslin and Acosta. Back line is for sure the biggest question mark.
i give miles my seal of approval. i only know the big name players and what i saw in the first game vs india. snowfx2, triceratops, and miles are some of the best brains behind this thread and could give better insight imo. but from the little that i know coming into the tournament and from what i saw in the opener: sargent's a beast. started for the u20s in the wc earlier this summer and was the best player. he's werder bremen bound and wouldn't surprise me to see him ball out there sooner rather than later. timothy weah is george weah's son and plays for psg's youth academy. he's good too. george acosta was used as a sub last game but played extremely well when he came on for akinola. akinola's performance vs india was 2017 theo-esque imo. carleton looks good enough to play, and develop further, in europe. seems to like staying and playing in the mls from what i've read though...idk kids these days. and that's about all i got.
I agree with everything said. I appreciate the work of those that know the youth better than I do. Pretty hard not to be really excited about the attackers in this squad
Sarg is clearly a few steps ahead of every other player on the team right now. Though Durkin and Sands have been good
