Some of our top U-17 prospects have declined residency and play with their Academy teams, a trend that'll likely continue to grow, which will eventually lead to Bradenton closing down. There were 350 pro and college scouts on hand for the Winter Showcase. There were the rosters for the Select games, basically the all-star game of players of the Academy teams. 1992-1993 RED: GOALKEEPERS (2): Jeffery Gal (Sockers FC), Matthew Pacifici (North Meck SC) DEFENDERS (5): DeAndre Yedlin (Seattle Sounders FC), Jack Coleman (FC Dallas), Nathanial Eggleston (D.C. Roster for the upcoming U-20 camp in Florida, apparently will consist of 2 games against Canada. Appears that Rongen will get a look at a lot of college defenders in this camp. There'll be a January camp that will contain a majority or all of the players that'll play in the U-20 CONCACAF championships in April, which doubles as U-20 WCQ. GOALKEEPERS (2): Zac MacMath (Maryland; St. Petersburg, Fla.) Kevin Piedrahita (América de Cali; Queens, N.Y.) DEFENDERS (8): Gale Agbossoumonde (G.D. Estoril Praia; Syracuse, N.Y.) Greg Garza (G.D. Groups for the U-17 WCQ were named today, Mexico doesn't need to qualify because the U-17 WC is in that shit hole. Somehow, CONCACAF gets 5 qualifiers, the 4 semifinalists all advance. Qualifying is Feb. 14-27 in Jamaica. Group A Costa Rica El Salvador Haiti Group B Panama Cuba Group C Jamaica Guatemala Trinidad & Tobago Group D Honduras Barbados
Roster named for the U-20 camp from Jan. 2-13. GK Cody Cropper (Ipswich Town) Zac MacMath (Maryland, turning pro though) Brian Sylvestre (Vancouver Whitecaps FC) DF Gale Agbossoumonde (GD Estoril Praia) Greg Garza (GD Estoril Praia) Moises Hernandez (FC Dallas) Sacir Hot (Boston College) Sebastian Ibeagha (Duke, possible Houston Dynamo homegrown signee) Perry Kitchen (Akron, possibly turning pro) Zarek Valentin (Akron, likely turning pro) Korey Veeder (likely signing with MLS) Ethan White (DC United) MF Joe Gyau (Hoffenheim) Fabian Huerzeler (Bayern Munich) Sebastian Lletget (West Ham United) Alex Molano (Dinamo Zagreb) Moises Orozco (Tigres) Dillon Powers (Notre Dame) Kelyn Rowe (UCLA) Conor Shanosky (DC United) Alex Zahavi (Maccabi Haifa) FW Juan Agudelo (New York Red Bulls, only there a few days before USMNT camp) Conor Doyle (Derby County) Omar Salgado (MLS) Bobby Wood (1860 Munich)
The only one I know of is Nick Palodichuk, he started at CM in the '09 U-17 WC. He's committed to Duke but Seattle will have his homegrown rights if/when he decides to play in MLS.
A poster on BS that's well connected with a lot of the youth prospects said that during Nike SPARQ training on Tuesday, Joe Gyau recorded the 5th best ever SPARQ rating for any soccer player tested around the world. This includes pros in top Euro leagues on Nike sponsored teams that does SPARQ training every preseason...and Gyau is just 18.
So it sounds like Hurzeler will stick with the US. I think it's not official until he plays a qualifier with us, but that should be soon. http://www.yanks-abroad.com/get.php?mode=content&id=7245
Bobby Wood is apparently going to start playing with the first team at 1860 Munich once the 2nd half of the season starts back up. There's some that thinks he's on par with Agudelo. He scored 2 goals in the U-20 intra-squad scrimmage the other day. Adrian Ruelas will return to Santos Laguna. Celtic declined the option, but I don't know if that's because he couldn't get a work permit. Even so, the Mexican league is still a good league to get his 1st team career started. From reports, Gyau has been killing it at the U-20 camp.
Newest U-17 roster for this semester has been posted. This roster will be for the the U-17 WCQ that start 2/18 in Jamaica. GOALKEEPERS (4) Wade Hamilton (Arsenal FC; Murietta, Calif.) - The U.S. will host Olympic qualifying in March of 2012 - U-20 and Boston College CB, Sacir Hot, is trialing with Borussia Monchengladbach. If he doesn't get an offer, he also has a trial with the powerful Borussia team (Dortmund) afterwards. Then if he gets no offer from either, the Red Bulls want to sign him to a homegrown contract since he was in their academy. - Here's a video of Boss's first day of his trial in Sweden: Gale Agbossoumonde trial at Djurgården
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/george_dohrmann/01/20/us.u20s/index.html Don't agree with some of the writer's picks because we need another fullback, can't have just two (Valentin and Garza), likely Korey Veeder. I'll be surprised if Gatt is released by his club, possibly Wood and Doyle too. Fucking CONCACAF should've had U-20 WCQ during January with some leagues in the offseason and some with winter breaks.
That roster right there would be unreal. The midfield looks so stacked and I am glad I wont have to pick who starts and who doesnt from that group.
Yeah, it's crazy how talented this team will be. There'll be guys that don't even make the team that would've started on the 2009 U-20 team. And that '09 team while disappointed results wise is producing some players like: Mix Shea Opara Boss Sean Johnson (didn't start though) Dilly Duka (should be a starter for Columbus this year) Sheanon Williams (starting RB for Philly) Jared Jeffrey (on Mainz's reserve team) But they were short on FW's, unlike this team. McInerney and Bowen would've started on that team, and good chance they don't make this team.
At one time was a club soccer teammate of Michael Hoyos. He's been in a pro environment much longer than our other U-20 prospects, and some feel he could be as good as Agudelo.
U-17's beat Honduras U-17's 6-0 yesterday and they tied the Union first team 1-1 today. It was also mainly subs for the U-17's against Philly. Qualifying starts a week from Monday.
One of my good friends made the U14 National Team. They trained in Mexico and he said it was a great experience. He is pretty good and has a great leg. Roster by Position: GOALKEEPERS (4): Cameron Keys (Lehigh Valley United FC; Whitehall, Pa.), JT Marcinkowski (Mustangs FC; Alamo, Calif.), Parker Siegfried (Newark Area SA; Granville, Ohio), Justin Vom Steeg (Santa Barbara SC; Santa Barbara ,Calif.) DEFENDERS (10): Billy Abdallah (Cosmos Academy West; Monterey Park, Calif.), Guillermo Bermudez (Albion SC; San Diego, Calif.), Peter Brown (Grand Rapids Crew; Walker, Mich.), Chester Castellaw (Real So Cal; Hidden Hills, Calif.), Malcolm Jones (Cosmos Academy West; Chino Hills, Calif.), Benny Lorca (Real So Cal; Oxnard, Calif.), Jean Orvil Jr (West Pines United; Miramar, Fla.), Erik Pritschau (PFC; Perry, Ohio), Tommy Redding (FC America Premier; Oviedo, Fla.), Max Stiegwardt (Minnesota Thunder; Maple Grove, Minn.) MidFielders(16): Mukwelle Akale (Minnesota Thunder; Minneapolis, Minn.), Julian Castro (Concordia Royal; Lorain, Ohio), Jeremy Colvin (LAFC Houstonians; Houston, Texas), Coy Craft (Fusion FC; Glade Spring Va.), Collin Fernandez (Chicago Fire; Downer’s Grove, Ill.), Chris Gomez (PDA; Jamison, Pa.), Cameron Lindley (Carmel United; Carmel, Ind.), Kostandin Moni (Crew Juniors; Grand Rapids, Mich.), Caleb Moore (Discoveries SC; Rock Hill, S.C.), Pablo Pelaez (Albion SC; San Diego, Calif.), Peter Schropp (Omaha FC; Omaha, Neb.), Shannon Seymour (Chicago Fire; Bourbonnais, Ill.), Benjamin Swanson (Columbus Crew; Grove City, Ohio), Alejandro Vergara (Cosmos Academy West; Long Beach, Calif.), David Villegas (Elk Grove Everton; Sacramento, Calif.), Sean Wilson (PDA; Bethlehem, Pa.) FORWARDS (6): Malcolm Dixon (NY Red Bulls; Glenridge, N.J.), Stephen Elias (Beachside SC; Rye, N.Y.), Alex Knox (Carmel United; Carmel, Ind.), Christian Lucatero (Houstonian FC; Pasadena, Texas), Amirgy Pineda (Fullerton Rangers; Santa Ana, Calif.), Dylan Smith (Fullerton Rangers; Anaheim Hills, Calif.)
Haha. I work at a golf course in Omaha and he is a member. He golfs everyday so I used to see him everyday.
Congrats to all the kids that make it, but it's such a waste of time to bother with any YNT that's younger than U-17. Emerson Hyndman is quite possibly the biggest freak to ever be in the youth ranks of U.S. soccer, but if he doesn't grow physically, it won't matter.
Yes it sounds like he'll start as the coach raves about him in that video, but he'll miss the first couple weeks of the season since he'll be with the U.S. U-20 team for WCQ.
The U-20 WCQ has been moved up to March 28 - April 10. So that means likely no Agudelo for the Argentina and Paraguay friendlies. The pots for the draw: Pot A: , El Cry , , Guatemala Pot B: Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, T&T Pot C: Cuba, Guadeloupe, Jamaica, Suriname
Draw set for the CONCACAF U-20 Championship. Top two teams from each group advance to the QF's, the four semifinalists advance to the U-20 WC. We have an easy group but would likely play Honduras or Guatemala in that make-or-break QF game, which could be tough especially if we face the home team Guatemala. Group A Honduras Guatemala Jamaica Group B Panama Suriname Group C Costa Rica Guadeloupe Group D El Cry T&T Cuba
Roster for the U-17 WCQ...Powe would be happy with the amount of Cali talent. GOALKEEPERS (2) Kendall McIntosh (Mustang Academy; Santa Rosa, Calif.) Fernando Piña (Houston Dynamo; Houston, Texas) DEFENDERS (6) Kellyn Acosta (FC Dallas; Plano, Texas) Joe Amon (South Carolina United FC; Summerville, S.C.) Zach Carroll (Vardar; Grand Blanc, Mich.) Mobi Fehr (Tokyo Verdy 1969; Tokyo, Japan) Nathan Smith (Cal Odyssey; Clovis, Calif.) Andrew Souders (Crew Soccer Academy; Amherst, Ohio) MIDFIELDERS (7) Jordan Allen (Empire United; Rochester, N.Y.) Matt Dunn (FC Köln; Dallas, Texas) Alejandro Guido (Aztecs Premier; Chula Vista, Calif.) Marc Pelosi (De Anza Force; Sunnyvale, Calif.) Esteban Rodriguez (Cosmos Academy West; Palmdale, Calif.) Tarik Salkicic (Strictly Soccer; Pinellas Park, Fla.) Dillon Serna (Colorado Rapids Academy; Brighton, Colo.) FORWARDS (5) Paul Arriola (Arsenal FC; Chula Vista, Calif.) Alfred Koroma (Solar Chelsea SC; Arlington, Texas) Jack McBean (LA Galaxy; Newport Beach, Calif.) Andrew Oliver (Westside United; Indianapolis, Ind.) Mario Rodriguez (Central Aztecs; North Hollywood, Calif.)
U-17's beat Cuba 3-1 with goals from Alfred Koroma, Andrew Oliver, and Estaban Rodriguez. A couple of the top players, Guido and Pelosi didn't even play. The next game is against Panama on Friday, then it'll be single elimination in the QF's to advance to the U-17 WC. Which is retarded that CONCACAF puts everything on one game whether a team qualifies or not, same goes for the U-20's. CONCACAF will likely be putting highlights up of the game later today.
