i've seen enough, we've found our lb but for real, this was mönchengladbach's last preseason match and they basically rolled out their first xi. borussia's staff has been full of praise for scally so he's going to have his shot (and if this game was any indication it will be at lb) scally's gonna burst onto the scene and have a breakout season imo
Here we go! Ocho-who!? Gaba’s already twice the keeper of that hack. He’s got a hell of a test for match #1 but I have faith.
Him and Gio are the two Club seasons I’m most excited for. I think Gio takes the leap to really really good while Scally breaks in like Gio last year
scally starting at lb in the dfb pokal to kick off mönchengladbach’s campaign game kicked off about 40 minutes ago on espn 3
going to post this here instead of in the USMNT thread. could be in both but feel it applies more to the kids. i enjoyed this interview with Hercules. https://scuffed.simplecast.com/episodes/190-the-dual-national-dilemma-with-herc-gomez
its been 2 days but I keep thinking about this podcast. The Pepi stuff that Herc talks about still bothers me scares me.
Anecdotally, I have a 10-year-old in our academy who Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are talking about. We’re fighting off those kinds of clubs for 10-year-olds now. That’s the way it’s moving, and that’s just in Philadelphia." https://amp.foxsports.com/stories/s...-dest-doug-mcintyre?__twitter_impression=true
we’re here and we’re only going to get better more investment, better coaching, and just the sheer number of players in the youth soccer setup across the country over the last 20 years are all the main contributing factors imo and all that is still going to get better and bigger as time goes on
Tanner says it at the end of that piece - they need to make sure these academies are rewarded financially for developing these kids. let these Euro clubs fund the pipeline, don’t let these academies lose the kids for nothing.
for sure, but these teams seem to be getting better at that lately imo. seems like a lot of these guys are now signed to professional contracts before being sold i’m sure there will be some that slip through the cracks and they won’t get fees both now and in the future, but the volume of players we will eventually be producing will be signed and sold for fees imo clubs develop players and lose them on frees all the time though, sancho and moose immediately come to mind. mls obviously needs the money wayyy more than city or arsenal in those examples, but just using those 2 as an example because it happens to every club and isn’t a problem specific to mls imo
bad example on my part then lol could’ve swore he left for free but still, arsenal poached barça youths all the time under wenger for free, pogba, etc
