Hey... shut up!
Also... Who actually thought about how old they'll be when it hits in 2026? I just did.
If I have a kid by then, it'll make it much flipping harder jaunting around 1/4th of hemispherical Earth game chasing.
Or my son
MetLife isn’t in NYC
I read either there or the Rose Bowl.
Pointing out he is wrong
No Chicago, smart.
But they’re called the New York Jets/Giants. How can they not be in New York?
Chicago pulled out.
MetLife is in the Meadowlands which should just be considered its own state at this point. It's like if they dropped a few stadiums in international waters.
But don't the Jets and Giants still play in the same stadium in East Rutherford?
Yes same thing
I haven’t seen it stated but Kansas City is a lock
It’s the capital of US soccer and infrastructure. I wouldn’t be shocked if the first match is there between USA and whoever (NYC is more likely but an argument could be made)
I thought the US Soccer HQ was in Chicago?
pretty sure dates and venues will be set before groups are drawn so that's not something that can be done.
Why would Chicago pull out? Such a great city that not enough foreign tourists visit (Relative to NYC, Florida, and the west coast).
I could be wrong but didn’t they just build a huge training center in KC for the national team?
they weren't given the assurances they needed from FIFA.
Yea they have those in several cities I think. I think that one was a joint venture between US Soccer and Sporting KC.
10-4 could be very wrong
Hope WC goes to KC still
USA will be position A1 as host so the only one they can actually plan for is the host's games. We would just have no idea who it would be against until the draw as you mentioned.
This Chicago resident is glad they pulled out.
Id much rather go visit a city than deal w the influx of tourists and effective shutdown of the city. Plus the city would definitely fuck it up
/get off my lawn
And here I thought gatorfromiowa was the king of the Chicago pullout
If KC gets to host I'll be pissed. They're the one city that ranked below Cincy is pretty much every category from FIFAs report. Nashville was ranked basically the same and Denver was higher. I think Denver will end up being the middle of the country location that gets picked unless the altitude holds them back.
Are we even going to have a team worth a shit at that time?
does MBS have a drainage system for rain if roof open? pointless question but just curious
They did. But this is fairly irrelevant to Hosting the World Cup. More relevant to USA's training grounds location.
Go read the Bid book. Stadium is most important. Then City Infrastructure (International Airport, Hotels, Transit). KC could get selected, likely will...but wont be because of USA Training Center.
And yet Orlando is still somehow on the list...
Question: I recall during women's WC a few years ago players complaining about playing on field turf and not naturally grass - which is a requirement for men's FIFA events or WC. Is this true, did it change, or did I just make that up?
All stadiums will use natural grass for the WC. They've already done this for Gold Cup and WC Qualifiers. They replace the field turf for a grass surface for those games in stadiums that don't have it
lived in Evanston when Chicago was a host city...it was fucking nuts. WGN reporters were interviewing fans from other countries coming out of places like Marshall Field's where they just spent thousands of dollars on jeans for investment purposes
I will be 52
Meatball will be 18
Is the Chicago Pullout like the Cincinnati Bowtie?
Spain’s delegates had to leave to handle their sudden coaching change so there was no one there to cast their vote.
Here are all the scores from the bid book. Not sure how important these will be for cutdown but good to see.
Prices for this will be nuts. They know the demand is going to be insane. Probably a lottery system in every city.
StubAmazonHub prices will be well over $1,000 for USA games.
They should play these games in the middle of the great lakes.
Need to get in on that Fifa lottery
Literally going to enter multiple cities just to make sure I can get in somewhere and then plan travel (I guess). Also assuming a lot of people will be doing exactly that.
American Outlaw tickets will also be a ridiculous lottery.
If Canada is in automatically this is going to be so embarrassing, we should either just start preparing our national hockey team right now or really change our approach to immigration with an emphasis on being good at soccer...we have enough doctors
South Africa was the first ever host to not make it out of the group stage. Russia is horrible right now though I'm sure they'll rig shit for them. God knows Qatar is going to be horrible in four years. This is likely the only time you'll ever get to play in a world cup so just enjoy the short ride.
lol at not being a USSF Elite Tier Gold Circle member like the true fans on this board
sounds like you already do
So do we get a 2025 confederations cup or are they getting rid of that?
