About to hop on a flight to LA who has a tailgate for me and a few buddy's to join? We will bring bottles of booze and bags of franzia to slap
Alcohol is not sold in the stadium, but they sell it in the Coliseum clubs that are around the stadium. The only caveat to buy it is if your ticket has access based on donor status.
Congrats. Seemed like Darnold wasn't going to let you lose. Texas should have gone for two after score in first OT I think.
i think that game showed that Pendergast needs to rotate more bodies on a regular basis even if he doesn't trust them to know the entire defense
That was my favorite W since the 06 Rose. As much as we don't want to admit it, that night in Pasadena broke us--similar to what happened with Miami following the 02 Fiesta. Yeah, it took a few more years before we hit rock bottom, but you could trace the bad vibes we've been trying to shake off for the last ten years to the moment Lendale came up short. Seeing McConaughey and Vince on the sidelines was def strange and brought back a lot of feelings. But getting a win against them was cathartic in a sense, despite them being in rebuild mode. The fact that it was another classic made it all the more sweet. Those are highlights I can savor, rather than avoid. Now I just hope we're not too banged up, otherwise each week is gonna be a blood bath from here on out...
You have to be kidding. My take away from that game is that our O-line is not the beastly group we thought they were after the Stanford game. Receiving corps is a liability after Burnett, secondary (specifically Iman) is suspect, and Clay bungled his clock management under pressure. Kicker showed up, which was nice. And the boys did perform under the gun with game on the line, but it should never have been that close. Remains to be seen if Helton can get this team to play up to it's potential.
No, I'm not kidding. As I said, it was my favorite because it was against them, and bc to me it marked a symbolic end to a painful chapter. I've had to listen to countless haters talk shit about the TX loss for 10 straight years, not to mention the number of times they've showed the final play since then. And if you recall it was only a few weeks after the game Yahoo broke the story about Reggie. That kicked-started our collective nightmare. To your points, I never thought our OL group was all that to being with. They're ok, but Sam's mobility masks many deficiencies. As for WRs, we lost our two best from last year, so it was clear we were going to take a small step back, especially when you factor in Pittman and DIs injuries. Our two 5* CBs are still overrated, tbh. Biggie has gotten better, but JackJack only seems to be interested in jawing after every play whether he does something good or not. Look, bottom line, we're not on Clemson or Bama's level. We just don't have the horses to compete in the trenches for 60 minutes with those kind of teams. This year we're basically a young, one-man team that's caught a good share of breaks. How far we go is up to Sam, our ability to stay healthy, and who we meet in the post-season....
For sure. And when you think about it, how pissed can we be? The D--even while dealing with key injuries--only gave up 17 in regulation and 70 yards rushing. True, that one 6'6 Wr of theirs had a monster game, but sometimes that's just gonna happen. Even from 02-05 we had a fair amount of close games. On O we did have some key drops and questionable play calls, but those early 4th downs were crucial, imo. After failing on that first one Clay should've taken the points on the second. That gave them a huge boost. Had we put up 10-14 early I think we would've went on to win comfortably. Survive and advance...
My gal is feeling some kind of way this morning. She's an alumna. I cracked up when she came down the stairs. Before we met, I don't think she watched an entire game of football in her life.
I'm nervous brehs. This Friday could be a hell of a test. Injuries are catching up with us. If we could survive this one, Ore St may be the closest thing we get to a bye. Thankfully Utah's here. But that ND game gonna be a bloodbath. We need Vaughns or Pittman to step up big time.
Short week on the road vs. a solid team in the Pacific Northwest? I think we've seen this script before. Sam can't throw his usual two picks, he needs to be better.
hard to see a win without our starting LT on the road on a short week, but with Sam anything is possible
now we're in the worst position possible where we need to fire the head coach but we'll be too good to conceivably do so
You could tell something's been off with this team since WMU. Sam is def out of sync. The injuries have decimated us. It is what is is. No way this team was going undefeated.
Like I was telling someone earlier, last year every time Sam threw a pass I was excited thinking it was going to be a big play, now I hold my breath thinking it’s likely to get picked. That said, watching ISU beat Okla in Norman makes me realize just how much parity there is in cfb these days. All these recruiting rankings go out the window when you step in between in the lines. Survive and advance still in effect. Let’s hope Sam gets his shit together.
the Dodgers made the NLCS and still canned Mattingly when it was clear he wasn't the guy to get the team over the hump. There's 0 reason to enter next season with Helton as HC.
i mean he's not wrong, we got disproportionally punished compared to the other shit that goes on in the cesspool that is CFB
I honestly had zero faith in last night. You guys are obviously beat up, but, wow. The spirit broke early. Helton had nothing until the half, and then after Adam’s long run SC quit. Coaches down to trainers. I hate SC but you guys deserve better.
Helton looks like a good dude but maybe he is not hc material. Usc is a great job for a coach but it comes with a lot of shit, you will have talent but the fans will hold you accountable. What happened last night is not what usc should be, the lack of Ronald Johnson or any kind of running game is reminiscent of a coach thinking too much
Your explosive running back, what is his name? Not drunk, he did not get the ball at all so I am unable to remember his name
I really don’t get it, Helton is a ol coach right? These guys usually lean on the running game. Darnold is once in 10years qb but they are putting way too much on him
After the first defensive series, I told my group that was exactly what needed to happen. Thought if we drive for a TD and can play with a lead, we would be in this game. Then Sam fumbled the first snap and I felt it was over right then and there.
So funny because in Tee Martin’s after the game press conference they said they had a physical week of practice. When everyone who follows the program knows they don’t hit during practice
This just isn’t a good football team. I say this half-jokingly but sometimes I can’t help but wonder if there’s something about our program’s cultural that prevents us from playing disciplined football for a whole season. Even during Pete’s days, it seemed like we sleepwalked through too many games and lost several inexcusable ones to teams with inferior talent AND coaching... Clay’s dismissal (only 2m buyout) would’ve seemed unthinkable post-Stanford, but if we lose 2-3 of the last four...I think there’s a chance the wheels start to turn...
WSU is one thing but I truly believe this ND team is at least equal in talent. I really think Helton was a mistake. He is basically west coast Orgeron. That team was toast the second that snap bounced off of Darnold's hand.
