Should be a good game this weekend but I'm not expecting ASU to win. You are still the clear favorite in the South with a shot at the Rose Bowl. If you win Saturday (as you are favored to do), you have 3 more games with two of them at home and a very winnable game at CU. SC will likely be double digit favorites in all 3. I think of Helton like I think of Dirk Koetter. Go x/o guy and coach but not a leader of men. You need a strong leader to navigate the college season. Helfrich did it with superior talent and still found a way to lose at home to Arizona. He was exposed by Urban in the Championship game and in the seasons post Mariota.
I agree to a point. ND is a talented team, but I need to see how they finish the season. They could always lose 1-2 more and end up in a bowl game against someone like Auburn and get lit up. Then overnight your board will want Kelly fired again and the SC game will seem like a lifetime ago. While Clay is over is head, I appreciate him similar to how Bama fans do Mike Shula. He’s a good dude who has brought some much-needed stability. He’s just not an elite D1 coach.
Agreed, I am still in wait and see mode as well. I was only pointing out that talent wise we are really similar. I said it in the game thread too. I think you guys deserve better than Helton, and we may deserve better than Kelly. Both squads have top ten talent it just so happens that ND right now is performing at a higher level.
ASU has been looking sharp lately. Balange gonna be a handful for a demoralized/beaten up D. And who knows, maybe Graham will do us another favor and force Swann’s hand.

If Mora was winning the south 10 games a year and the Rose Bowl I’d be good. I get that our expectations are drastically different but it is hard to understand your plight. We are probably stuck with a coach that doesn’t want to be here with an 11-14 million dollar buyout for the foreseeable future who will probably win 4-6 games a year.

At first I thought it was because Haden made a deal with Larry Scott to ensure we get to play Stanford or Cal in the Bay every year back when the new PAC schedule was being formulated. USC getting a bye before the conference championship game is a major advantage. It was obviously a disadvantage not having a bye throughout the year but it worked out in the end.
