Well yeah it'll happen again at some point. Just feel like Tanner screwed the program up by firing Muschamp so soon.
It’s fair to argue they’ve downgraded at almost every coaching position. did Tanner and that whack job President ever convey off the record why they didn’t take Chadwell?
Have heard from a few down there they just didn’t like the way he interviewed and wasn’t really considered after. I think that’s going to come back and bite them in the ass (looking at you Tennessee).
Asking us why we didn't hire better people, is like asking a homeless person why they don't just get a hotel room. We've hired the best people we could convince to take the job. And when they fail, we'll do it again in 4 to 5 years.
I for one, am rooting for Shane and hope he gets the job done. Not much of the staff excites me but I do like the strength coach plus Kitchings and Stepp are good. OC appears to be a big let down and I don’t know anything about this DC but we’ll see.
What’s so funny to me is after Ray (our AD) gave Muschamp an extension with a massive buyout, after the Muschamp hire failed, after Ray botched Muschamp’s firing where he forgot to make sure Muschamp signed an agreement that would have prevented Muschamp from keeping his 15M EVEN IF HE GETS ANOTHER JOB, TBS staff still praised Ray for going out and signing a HC who has never been a head coach before and no one else wanted. college football reporting is the fucking worst
Yeah the guys on TBS aren’t going to slander Ray or anyone else in the AD or any of the coaches when those people are their sources. Especially when those people see what the guys on TBS write. TBS writers are there to keep subscribers coming and paying by parroting info they receive from the AD and coaches. They are not beat writers.
This should be put on a plaque like the Tebow speech Here’s what I know about Shane Beamer beyond a shadow of a doubt. He’s extremely intelligent, highly competitive and he straight-up knows personnel (players and coaches). I thought Mike Bobo was a good hire. I also thought Derek Mason and particularly Zach Arnett would be good hires. I think the other hires who have stuck are good as well. Most importantly, I have no doubt that Beamer is going to continue to make good hires. I also have no doubt he considers this a mere bump in the road and is going to turn it into a positive. I can’t promise you 100 percent of you are going to rally behind the hires he makes because obviously you guys have a ton of opinions just like everyone does. What I will promise you is this is just the start of an era and you will be happy with the end result. Someone on the former staff a while back told me shortly after Muschamp was let go that the best thing the fanbase can do is to get behind the new coach after years of being fractured. That hurts the overall vibe around your program these days because it’s front and center on social media and everywhere else. It doesn’t mean you can give opinions, it doesn’t mean everything is going to be perfect, it doesn’t mean you are going to agree with all the moves. But you aren’t helping being micro-critical of everything and acting like the sky is falling when it is not. This program is in good hands. It’s still in good hands. In the words of Tony Morrell “just let it play out” and things will be fine, I promise. -JC Shurburtt
Just a gentle reminder- negativity can harm our program Gamecock Lifer Well-Known Member Friday at 5:53 PM Add bookmark #1 Don’t want to sit around and espouse the greatness of an unproven staff? Cool Have some doubts about a hire? Fair Turning into an internet troll who bashes our program, administration, coaches and recently committed PLAYERS in every thread they are mentioned? Not ok. It does matter and people who can affect our trajectory do see it and while a handful of these trolls are fans of other schools intentionally trying to sabotage us... The vast majority are not. If you claim to be a Carolina fan and find your online activity falling in line with the extreme negativity being referred to here- how about STFU? Seriously- some of you should be absolutely ashamed.
I like all the hires so far. Went younger and with strong connections to the program. At least it is a different approach. Eagles just fired Pederson so Deuce Staley may be out of work. He’d be a great addition on the staff but he’ll probably get a much higher profile job/offer in the NFL. Enegbare coming back is big for the D. It’s going to be chaos with all the players in the transfer portal. No idea if we’ll make a big jump but all the variables are there for a team to get a lot better really fast.
I think Duce is tenured there through his connections to the owner. Wouldn't be at all surprised if he was there with their next coach. He also needs to get his degree to coach in college at last check
Big fan of the staff. If nothing else, it’s refreshing. For the first time I years, I have hope again.
i really like the fundamental premise of bringing in guys who really love the program it's always pissed me off that we hired Muschamp and he hired a bunch of Georgia people, it feels like we're just field testing their guys who would *definitely* leave if they turned out to be great coaches. obviously the risk here is that "our guys" are very unlikely to be, objectively speaking, the most experienced coaches in the short-run. I suspect the sort of approach we're taking, if it pays off, is going to take a long time to do so. but i made a joke about Barcelona and this is kinda/sorta what i meant. The idea of having a plan for building cultural/program/strategic identity and executing it for like 20-yrs. Attempting to build wins rather than buy wins.
I am hearing Coach Beam talked to Matt Rhule several times about how to put a staff together. So you know it will be good
Deuce should get his “on-line” degree during COVID just to check that box. Can we get 2 spoons to give some motivational talks?
was this a joke? a part of me thinks yes it is, but we’re dealing with the most delusional fan base in sports so now I’m not so sure.
