I did watch his game against single A SCISA level competition and I wasn’t impressed with his potential. So yes, you are correct.
It’s not hard to see a stocky guy that’s bigger, stronger, and faster but still not that impressive physically that plays against 140 lbs every week isn’t going to see the same success in the mighty SEC. you would almost have to be an idiot to miss that. Speaking of - Bo Nix and Ryan Helinski were highly rated guys. How’s that going?
Could you tell me about the highly rated QBs that are both going in the top 4 of the 2021 NFL Draft? or we're just gonna scream Ed Reed was a 2*
Hahahaha. What is the point you are trying to make? You said “but the stars???!!” and I pointed out two very current examples of where the recruiting services got it very wrong. In the case of Stockton, this is easy to see if you aren’t drinking the koolaid. The competition is the worst and he doesn’t appear to be elite at anything. He doesn’t have good size. He’s not fast. He doesn’t have a good arm. He’s just just going to run past and over people like he does in his terrible league. You are so bad at understanding things like this you are probably convinced Stockton is Johnny Manziel though.
If Justin Fields was smaller, slower, had a weaker arm and played much more inferior competition? I could see it.
Claiming to have voted for Biden isn’t going to keep law enforcement from identifying DMX as an American Patriot Capitol Stormer. Nice try.
Tracy rocker is hilarious to me Arkansas Ole miss Auburn Georgia Tennessee South Carolina He’s worked at all those schools since 2007. I love the group of like 10 or so assistant coaches that just rotate between SEC schools.
I'd be interested if a guy like this wrote a book. Would be interesting to hear the difference in program/facilities perception from someone who had intimate knowledge of the whole league
These kinds of moves always make me wonder who these guys can recruit. “Don’t go to Auburn. It’s not the right place for you.” One day later... “Come to Auburn. It’s the right place for you.”
that’s not how a lot of these guys recruit. A lot of the good position coaches will sell themselves and their track record/ability to be a father figure while away from home as much as anything. That’s why it’s so important for a HC to be a good recruiter and heavily involved in relationships with key recruits.
My opinion from a coach perspective- I am going to go over the glaring issues in my opinion Any elite coach isn't coming to USC anyway due to competition (UGA, Clemson, FLA, A&M). You could do the greatest job in the world, and still look average with guaranteed 4 loses. Greatest thing that happened to Spurrier is SC had an influx of talent during a 3-4 year run that was elite and it all went to USC while the East was down. Now it has shifted, will either go to Clemson (if they want them) or go to UNC/UGA while East programs have risen their programs back to normal. The landscape for their recruiting is bad and apparently so is the commitment to having gigantic support staffs (Clemson, Bama, UGA model) which appears cheap. Every single school now they are recruiting against has facilities so what is enticing to USC? If you want to get into the Good/Elite category, you have to spend $$$. Not just facilities, you have to open the wallets up for everything. Coaches, support staff, recruits. The talent gap is huge and people can talk all they want about Culture and attitudes, which is great and worthy to have within a program. But talent will always beat that out. I truly believe they made a gigantic mistake in not hiring Chadwell. Was he a sure fire slam dunk? No, but he has a proven track record of rebuilding dumps of programs (The no P5 argument is old and people say that do not really understand the job he has done at previous schools). Is his offensive scheme great and fun to watch? Yes, but his greatest job as a play caller is tempo. He slows the game down to a crawl because of the talent disparity (BYU game). Even if he doesn't win, he is able to keep his defense off the field and make it look more competitive than it actually is (Charleston Southern when they took North Dakota State to overtime). I thought that and his history of rebuilding programs was extremely attractive to a place like USC. I hope Beamer does well. I think the only upgrade he actually got for position coaches was Stepp. If USC plays a normal schedule, they could win 4,5 games and show progress. If it is SEC Covid schedule again, USC will have one win and that is worst case scenario as it will further drive elite talent to other programs. I believe that is why there are no big names coming to USC. This isn't a quick fix and is at least a 4-5 year rebuild, most assistants are not going to take a chance to spend that much time at a place. Majority are hired mercenaries so to speak and if the rebuild doesn't work, their reputation takes a hit and that shining star fades.
this all makes sense. I always say that the strength of rivals is critical to a coaches success as its perceived by the masses. South Carolina plays in an average at best state when it comes to HS football recruits and one of the 4 elite programs right now is in state. One of the other 4 borders the state. Tennessee getting into recruiting trouble could help but it’s almost impossible to win at South Carolina with Georgia and Clemson as strong as they are right now. I would have gone all in on Napier and tried to meet whatever demands he wanted but if he said no, I would have gone chadwell as well. South Carolina needs to win moneyball style right now.
Agree 100%, the worst thing that could've happened was Mack having immediate success he has had and has basically locked down all the talent in NC outside of the prospects that Dabo wants. If Tennessee ever becomes competent again while UNC/FLA/UGA are in the good to elite category, it is really going to be a problem. I thought Beamer was going to hit the portal hard for immediate talent upgrades, even if it just gives the allusion of upgrading talent. Currently he has gotten a Delaware LB and Georgia Southern corner, neither are SEC caliber players and are just bodies- only adds to the talent disparity.
They didn't have the money for Napier to meet staff demands. That $44 million in debt and the $12-15 million owed to Muschamp kinda have them hamstrung.
It's safe to say that won't happen at TN. They can't get out of their own way trying to recapture the past when SC, UGA, and Clemson were down in the 90's anyway.
I think Rocker was a good DL coach. Leaving without discussing with Beamer/players and just packing your office up in the middle of the night is a bad look. Auburn is a better program and if you want to take the job then just tell Beamer and leave like a pro. Beamer is getting a full taste of how hard this job is but I still like his approach. Definitely gives our staff and players motivation to unify and work harder. Hope Beamer uses it as a positive. If Brad Lawing hadn’t fucked up so bad with Dunlap I’d like him to come it but don’t think that can happen with the history.
Is Lawing even in coaching anymore? I don’t mean this as any sort of shot against a rival but can it actually get worse at UofSC? I think this is the bottom. Not sure Beamer has a vision for what he wants the offense to be which is concerning. Just recruit decently and it will look better on the field. what the hell is Auburn thinking taking all of these dudes though.
Only reason it doesn’t feel like the bottom to me is that I had season tickets to our 1-10 and 0-11 seasons. That was bottom. We actually have some talent. No depth and inexperienced coaches. Uphill for sure. Realistically you just want your coaches to make improvements and take steps to making the program great. I think it will take time and I like Beamer’s approach so far. Lawing is not currently coaching but I think he still either lives in the Columbia area or has a house here. I know he wanted the job during the Muschamp turnover. Not saying I want him but he was a really good DL coach at his prime. If this trend continues then reach out to Jonathon Abraham and see if he’s interested.
If we really wanted to shift the dynamic in our favor, we would come out and announce that we're gonna start paying our players, and if the NCAA punishes us so be it. It has the added bonus of being the ethical thing to do. That would be us setting trends instead of trying to compete with Clemson and UGA at their own game. But were too stupid and conservative for something like that.
in a thread where dmx expected us to believe he's a biden guy, ale has somehow given us the dumbest contribution
