Can't believe they're putting our two shit teams on national television. And we're missing like half the squad with COVID.
We sent a group that had high school kids starting to New Mexico in 2021. Lost 7-0 and they bragged about it.
2 late goals to make it 3-0 for City and that scoreline befits the game better than 1-0 would have. City had a chokehold on the game and Battery were really never able to hold possession and create anything. ¡Vamos Morados!
That sucks for Memphis. I'm pretty sure they were playing in the baseball stadium downtown, though, and so the field was literal dirt in a good part of it.
Too bad we still play in a baseball stadium. I'm surprised the league hasn't said anything yet. I believe the team has to have a plan after 5 years in the league
You could be like Legion and play in a giant football stadium that everyone (players/fans/etc.) hates.
Going to require 15k soccer specific stadiums. Will be interesting if they can get enough teams/cities to invest in that
Maybe this will be what motivates the Phoenix owners to shit or get off the pot regarding the stadium situation. Didn’t go to any matches last year and not sure if I’ll go to any this season either. Taking two kids to a pop up stadium sucks.
ABQ City Council approved 30 million in industrial revenue bonds for United’s new stadium up by balloon fiesta park about a week and a half ago. Sounds like it’s gonna happen despite some nearby NIMBYs trying to fight it in court (they’re not gonna build the stadium down by UNM’s facilities no matter how much the 20 NIMBYs want them to because UNM is territorial as hell and I think owns most of the land down there). The new location will definitely impact fewer people up on the north edge of town than United’s original plan to build in the Barelas neighborhood and the club is fronting the costs instead of trying to get taxpayers to foot a big chunk of the bill this round, so this is probably the best possible outcome under the circumstances. I’m not sure that the capacity is going to be 15K off the jump (wanna say it’ll be closer to 10) but I’d imagine the ability to expand to it will be there if the club decides it wants to take a shot at the new division 1 league. https://www.krqe.com/news/albuquerq...-tax-incentive-for-new-mexico-united-stadium/
