Why has Poch been so bad? I was excited for the hire. I know we have guys sitting out all the time, and always hurt, but holy shit.
At Spurs, it took like 6 months for his system to start looking like something that could eventually work, and that was when he had the guys in training almost every day. No idea how it’s going to happen if he only gets guys for a couple weeks at a time.
Telemundo for Argentina/Colombia (Argentina just tied it 1-1 81’). You may get Brazil/Paraguay on Univision but I’ve got Mexico/Türkiye.
such a heads up play there by Harriel to gather that Luna ball on the sideline, face up against the Swiss defender and then just stand there until the Swiss D completely reset. 6-D chess we're playing here
This is all Nike's fault. We have our new jerseys with the crest on the left chest like God intended, but Turner is still wearing maybe the old gk kit that has the crest in the middle of the chest.
The other 2 guys that would possibly start are both hurt Maybe Turner can get some form with the transfer to Lyon?
First ive heard hes transferring, lets hope he does start now Tim howard singlehandedly raised the floor for the USMNT for so long
Apparently Lyon’s GK was too good and now is going to be leaving so they’re signing Turner to replace him. They signed him for €3.5m and reportedly signing Turner for €8m so they must like him
At least he isn't pulling a GGG and trying to shift blame. Hopefully he's learned a valuable lesson and gotten this loser shit out of the way now rather than next summer
Half think Poch is a giant fraud because he had a really good squad who could press any team on the former tiny WHL pitch We suck regardless
To twist the knife Mexico beat Türkiye tonight after losing to Swiss 4-2 (it was 3-2 and close till stoppage).
Maybe I’m crazy, but I think two things might be true at the same time - we may get grouped at the WC, but people are kinda overreacting to this. We need to find answers soon on the back line and in goal, but how many guys from this squad are we expecting to start? 1 or 2 at most?
Haven’t cared about these losers since they started Trump dancing. Personally would find it hilarious if we got dominated on us soil while Trump is dictator anyways
handwave the lineup all you want, but this on the back of the Nations League results is what really makes it bad. four terrible performances in a row heading into the Gold Cup.
this is a perfectly reasonable take, and if a year from now we haven't shown improvement with the A team then I'll concede that getting grouped is a likely scenario and we can have all the doom conversations about what a massively wasted opportunity it was, but with a sport as fickle as soccer jumping over the ledge because of these two friendlies is silly imo
It isn’t just these friendlies though. The entire Poch experience has been underwhelming and that coming on the heels of the Copa disappointment last summer, there’s not a whole lot of reason to be hopeful right now.
agreed, to be clear I get the angst, I am concerned, and I don't have much confidence in what we see next summer, what I disagreed with were these "revelations" that it's utterly hopeless as reactions to two friendlies where most people assumed we'd look like shit due to the roster (particularly last night) and competition, we learned nothing from this week except that there still isn't much to be positive about
Big Tones “Now Christian, your team has raised concerns about playing in the Gold Cup, what exactly are those concerns?” Pulisic “Well for starters, illegals have burnt Los Angeles to the ground” Jimmy “Oh Hey! Haha, yeah umm, crazy stuff out there but let’s focus on soccer….” Chuck :
makes sense to rest those guys, if they didn't rest them, they wouldn't get a break for 2 years. 2024-2025 season Gold Cup 2025-2026 season WC
