will the US ever have sideline reporters and interviewers who ask questions beyond, "tell me about your goal" and, "how are you feeling about the team?"
So no Reyna or Pulisic for these 3 and we got 6 points. What does that mean for us in the grand scheme of things? We in a good place to qualify thus far?
no we absolutely do not owe Gregg an apology (answering Salazar's question), now let's all hope the backlash plus tonight was enough to give the much more promising midfield depth pieces burn over the invisible wastes he loves
8 games left, 13 points from those 8 probably good enough for qualification. Win the 4 home games, find a point on the road, and we’re good.
i’d be interested to know who completed more forward passes between busio in 20 min tonight and lletget in 90 min vs panama
Aaronson is awesome. Busio needs to play more. Wes was really good or bad, had some really good passes and touches, and also left a lot to be desired on some and too much dribbling at time. Tyler Adams must stay healthy. He’s so good.
Look. I agree starting Lleget was a mistake, but you know this isn’t the same. Busio came into a game against a bunch of tired old fucks and had no one within 15 yards of him every time he touched the ball.
True. The North American trio are the clear top tier to me. I think that second tier goes 2A Panama 2B Jamaica. Ticos, Honduras, El Salvador just don’t have it this cycle. So as far as guaranteeing qualifying, Panama/Jam dropping all points is best.
Listening to Best Damn Soccer Show’s post game and they just said they’ve confirmed with video, Dest hit that shot with his left boot untied.
I wouldn’t start Wes vs Mexico. Reyna needs to start as an 8/10 and Musah has been better than Wes. Mexico absolutely eviscerates opponents when they make bad turnovers, and Wes has had too many of those as of late.
Another reason I want to see Reyna as a 10 is that I don't think you can afford to drop Aaronson from the 11. He basically does the same thing Arriola does except he actually contributes to a lot of offense generation.
Allow me to ramble a bit -Richards I thought was great. You could maybe say he should have conceded a pen but that was mainly a result of a really unlucky bounce that put him in a shit position. Maybe Miles' worst game in a NT shirt, but he's been so solid and consistent before this I'll give him a mulligan and not think much of it. -Dest not playing much defense is a dead horse at this point but we need his offense so badly he's still so valuable to us. Seems like some nights like tonight our wingbacks create more going forward than anyone else on the squad. (Not sure if that's a good thing but it is what it is) -Adams was Adams. Almost all of Costa Rica's chances were a result of mistakes by us and they hardly did a damn thing in the run of play. -Reyna in the middle would go a long way to helping our (fairly consistent at this point) lackluster production in the final third. -Please don't sit Turner again, Gregg. That was a pretty soft goal that you won't convince me Turner wouldn't have stopped.
That was fucking awesome. Crowd didn’t fill in until right before anthems so it was real quiet pregame but anthem was good and I thought crowd was decent. Fucking hilarious the loudest it got all night was for Zardes though. Man they fucking love him. Robinson fucking woof. His decision making and passing were abysmal. His recovery (and Ruiz being a million years old) though made it so he didn’t give up any goals from the fuck ups. Richards was alright. Goal was at the opposite end but sure looked like Zack should’ve done better and my first thought was that Turner stops it. After Druce pointed out that Wes only looks to turn centrally I couldn’t stop noticing it. 90% of the times he didn’t take a donkey touch that he had to just go where it led him, he was turning centrally and nothing came of it. A couple times he instead played super shitty balls to Jedi instead. We played a million fucking crosses and they were awful. Pepi whiffed on a header and was really weak on another. Disappointing game from him. It felt like no one but Musah or Dest was willing to take space with the ball or take a man on. The midfield passing linking together at times was so exciting to watch. Not sure how much they showed his face when he was doing his lap of honor but Dest had the biggest fucking grin on his face and seemed so pumped up.
