Should be. Which means they'll fuck it up by doing something inexplicably dumb like trying to go head to head with the Euros

Nah it’ll be like how it was in 2016. Euros during the day and this tournament at night.

I’d like to see how that stands up to a typical Copa’s revenue for a SA host country.

It would be nice if this results in SA players becoming interested in playing in MLS as a result of their experience in the tournament. It’s still a largely untapped source of talent imo.

Gloster and Soto being moved up to Hannover’s 1st team. They’ll be relegated this season, so I guess getting them ready for the BL2.

I don't understand this recent narrative by a big portion of the MNT fanbase where they want to put Adams in the RB/WB hybrid role.

We could do that, or we could play him in his normal roles as a 6/8. You know. Where he's currently killing it at in the Bundesliga.

I feel like a lot of MNT fans just want to get the best 11 names out there and not worry all that much about position.

I mean, does this even do that, though? Who are we replacing Adams with at one of the 3 midfield spots where the lineup looks better?

It’s because in the system that GGG rolled out and close to the system he’s always used that RB will spend 90% of the match as a midfielder. Not saying that’s what he should do but he wouldn’t be playing as a traditional RB.

This is Lima's touch map against Panama. It's a pretty RB-y/WB-y role tbh. They kind of just play through it more than a traditional RB.

But what I worry about more is the ability to utilize Adams' best attribute, which is the relentless high press on defense.

I know, people have been wanting to pigeon hole him there since he was coming up with the red bulls, partially because many though he would never be able to hack it in the midfield, which obviously didn't turn out to be accurate. Part of what makes it frustrating for me.

He’s far too good to put on just one side of the field, no matter what Lima’s touch map looks like.

I don't think the USMNT has ever had such a disruptive player, it would be a shame to put him at RB.

    Roster fan poll. Thoughts?
-Not sure Jozy is match fit yet or if we even need a 3rd striker with Weah
-I could take or leave Bradley. (He hadn't looked good in a MNT shirt for a while, but was much better in the last couple)
-Would like to see a little more from Morris before calling him in. Think I'd rather see Holmes or Gooch get a shot first.
-Maybe Zim over CCV, but either is fine.

    Otherwise pretty good

I'm kind of resigned to the fact that both of them are going to be called in. I wish we could see Canouse get a shot, but Bradley is probably one of the few "experience" guys Gregg will call in, and Trapp is kind of his guy, so :angrycorn:

i may have misread it, but i read the poll as the preferred roster and starting lineup

thus they still want bradley starting at dm

sorry that site is blocked at work for some reason. I didn't think it was limited to just a starting lineup I thought it was for the whole squad.

it had the whole squad, but it was positionally setup, so it looked like a preferred 11 to go along with the roster.

i’ll reread it though. i’m sure mb and trapp will still be used for depth, but i just can’t for the life of me think of why anybody would want them in a preferred 11 as well with adams and wes being far superior at dm
