Dude uses a training regiment that leads to excessive injuries but cool. Glad you don't care about the opinions of fans who experienced Poch ball last season.
Not really a big deal with int'l play when you have a team for a week outside of tournaments. I mean Bielsa's style is absolutely brutal, but works in the int'l game.
Would you think that him having significantly less time with players would eliminate this? I mean, Tyler will still show up and get hurt, but that’s every camp
I had enough of the Kai sucks movement during the Euros to give a single fuck what any Chelsea fan thinks You’ve bought 87 players under Todd and only 1 has been better than him
Haha what? Nicolas Jackson scored more in the league than Kai and Kai was put on a team where the ball was fed to multiple types a game.
Kai was in midfield half the year are you really arguing chances for Nico, jfc. He makes Gervinho look proficient
Yeah but Bielsa is coaching Argentina with a deep pool of high level talent either. Also, I think it's getting twisted that I am upset it's Poch, I am not for various reasons, but I also know a lot of the risks that come with him too. I suppose that is possible. I just know one of the things that was hated about Jurgen was how hard he stretched the players in practice. That he wanted them to run for miles and miles, just like Poch. Throw in that tactics are lacking. He used a 3 5 2 with an inverted LB in preseason and never went back to it till the last 6 games of the season.
He should’ve gotten a second season at Chelsea. The entire experience wasn’t always fun but the end result was ok and things were trending up at the end. I’m a fan of the hire as he is not just another MLS stooge. Probably the biggest (realistic) name we could have landed.
Thought Poch was great at Chelsea and really thought he’d get another season. You can talk about the injuries but I’m not convinced Poch’s training regimen is responsible for all of them. Maybe on the margins but he can’t help Reece is made of glass and half the attacking players had ligament injuries. I would also say Cole Palmer’s ridiculous campaign definitely covered up some gaffs in tactics and game management. Still you’d be foolish to be disappointed by this hire. He’s miles better than GGG and his players all love him. The style will be fun and he’s not afraid to play talented youth. Most excited I’ve been since Klinsmann was hired.
also if Poch does well he’s certainly gone for a better job after the World Cup, which is absolutely a plus in the international game
It’s not like he’s Mario making the team run the stadium stairs in their cleats. Seems more just like variance with the injuries he dealt with.
Obviously opinions differ but I think most of the Chelsea support liked Poch and wanted him to stay and I’m personally really happy with the pick. The injuries were insane last year but I don’t think that can all be ascribed to him. He’ll be great at the locker room management aspect of things and won’t try to fit guys into a system they’re not suited for. Outside of Klopp, this was the best pick they could have made imo.
not sure what people expected if you’re not happy with this. look at the quality of coaches coaching international teams around the world you can count on one hand how many other international team coaches you’d even consider taking over poch can he get results as a first time international team manager? i don’t know. we’ll find out, but it’s 100% worth the risk bringing in a coach of his quality imo
I'm happy with the hire. Again it has to be viewed in context to what type of candidate was actually feasible for the US team. If you think replacing GGG with Wondo had a high chance of happening, landing on Pooch is a home run. We did not want another MLS tied coach and this is a good bet to make.
What happened to the 6 month evaluation period!? Why are we just jumping into this? What about due process!
I think Todd Boheley bought Chelsea just to hire and fire Poch so this moment could happen. What a long game.
I don’t follow the USMNT as close as others in this thread, but this like the best hire they have had in a long time and as good as we could possibly ask for. I usually expect them to hire some MLS manager.
wtf Chelsea, pay up. A separate source told ESPN that Pochettino's situation with Chelsea remains unresolved. He is owed money by the Premier League club and until a resolution is found he cannot sign a contract to take over the USMNT.
Very happy with the hire. Glad we brought in a foreigner who the players will respect. If Poch will do anything he'll have them all in shape and fighting for starting/roster spots. That's all we can ask for with less then 2 years left before the 26WC. He won't want to stay past 26 so then someone like Dolo can come in and have an entire cycle.
He only had a year left on his deal and there was a “mutual” parting of ways so I can’t imagine it’s a ton of money. Our useless owners could fuck anything up though so who knows.
