I guess I'm OK with it just because he's been so good this year in the Bundesliga and he's still young enough that he could maybe end up having more NT success under a new coach in the future. I'm dying to see a midfield of Saief, McKennie, Parks, Pulisic though.
I'm pretty sure Saief's fairly exclusively a left player but couldn't say 100%. Not sure on Weah but I really don't see him as a winger in a 4-4-2 for some reason. Would have liked to see Parks, but other than that, good stuff. Hopeful/projected starting lineup assuming a 4-4-2 Wood/Novakovich Saief/Adams/Mckennie/Nagbe Robinson/CCV/Miazga/Yedlin EPB for CCV, Weah for Novakovich, and maybe Roldan or Delgado for Wes as subs
I was at first too but then I figured since we don't even have a permanent coach yet we wouldn't be implementing anything new. (Also weah is much more of a forward than a mid) Your guess is as good as mine though.
Yeah, it's all just guesswork at this point. He played primarily center forward with PSG's youth teams, but also spent some time up top on the wings in their 4-3-3, and was mainly in the same spot on the US team in that formation. (Sargent being our CF probably had a lot to do with that) I was wrestling with my guess because I have no idea what we're going to run or if Weah can play winger in a 4-4-2. (or if that's even where they would plan to play him in that) Wouldn't be that surprised in any of those scenarios.
I'm especially surprised Glad wasn't called up considering Brooks is still hurt. (We called in 5 fullbacks and only 3 CBs) Figured he'd be a shoe-in. Maybe they added Robinson at his expense because he's a dual national and they want to get him in the mix asap.
Weah discussion reminds me. Thoughts on the primary formation going forward? I've wanted us to move away from a 4-4-2 for a while because A: possession in the midfield has long been an issue for us against decent teams (Bradley consistently being on an island, issues getting Pulisic involved when he plays in the middle, etc) and moving to 1 striker might help with that, and B: it's been so difficult for us to consistently field 2 healthy strikers in good form. I liked the idea of a 4-2-3-1 for a while, because it's similar to 4-3-3, but can be a little less vulnerable defensively depending on how it's played. More recently some have thrown out the idea of a 3-4-3 which is interesting. Takes advantage of CB being our deepest position (Brooks, Miazga, EPB, CCV, Glad) by getting 3 of them on the field- and Yedlin, Robinson, and Adams can all play wingback. Many on here are better with tactics than me though, so I'd like to hear some opinions.
Based on his time with the Crew I have confidence he can run fast without the ball and take shots from 30 yards out that don’t come close to goal
If anyone's looking for a time-killer here's a good podcast talking about the roster/starting Xl guesses, etc. From the guy who runs the scuffed twitter account https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast...sodeGuid=789c0e3f-affb-4b57-8951-be48e53f4ef7
Also: U20's against france going right now. Sargent/Carleton/Goslin/Llanez etc. Camera level is really low and shitty tho
There’s a bit of checkering on the zoomed in pic Regardless, they put in about as much effort as the actual team did so it fits
