Shit. That sounds like an amazing position to me. You have a job once every 7-8 years and you likely get a pretty cushy salary.
I was being a bit facetious. But I would think that would still be a pretty good position for someone with ambition. Make sure to nail your main priority (US coach) then when you have extra time you can take on extra projects or help others with their projects and get ahead that way.
Yes. That is the problem. Nobody will any real ambition or current standing in the US Soccer game is interested in a position that is largely pointless. Why names like Curt Onolfo come up.
Jona Gonzalez didn't make Mexico's 28 man preliminary WC squad. Don't even have any hate for him because of how mind-numbingly stupid the federation was with handling his recruitment, but I'd imagine that's a pretty big disappointment for him.
KP flying to the US. Looks like he's in While we're at it, roster predictions? Might be tough since some MLS teams will be reluctant to release guys. Wood, Nova, Sargent, Weah... Maybe Rubin? CP, Parks, Wes, Gooch, Amon, Saief, Acosta, Adams?, Delgado? Miazga, CCV, Brooks?, Yedlin, Villafana, Robinson, Lichaj, EPB... Moore? Hamid, Horvath, ? These change obvi if guys like Steffen, Adams, Trapp, Nagbe etc get released
He did well with Ipswich last year. I'd imagine Spurs will bring him in for preseason and give him a shot, but making the roster will be tough. Going back to the Championship as a 20 yo CB would still be very nice for development.
Yeah he's another guy I wish we could see, but DC is pretty much dead outside of him at defensive midfield, so I'd imagine they don't let him go. He's been great for them and he's a fucking sniper with his long passing.
Guessing the USMNT will play Minnesota (confirmed), KC, and Cleveland or Nashville for the Gold Cup group stage. And Cleveland or Nashville for our QF match if we finish 1st in our group.
https://www.socceramerica.com/publi...vermes-asks-of-us-soccer-what-is-the-pla.html “We’ve never had that consistency in our national-team program. That has to happen. When that’s going to happen, I don’t know, but it has to happen at some point. There’s three things you have to have for a successful soccer program. You have to have players, staff and facilities. We’re building incredible facilities in this country. I think we have incredible players, very good players. The final piece is we have to increase the number of better coaches at all the different levels so that we challenge these kids at each age group, at each step along the pro path.”
Hate the idea of such a corporate club, but if they're developing studs like Adams, Miazga, and more...let them do what they want. They also played Jozy as a teen with Juan Pablo Angel and sold Jozy for $10 million to Villarreal.
They're also not deep at all, and made the Europa, so playing time should be there. I think that's about the best possible spot for him. Is a destroyer with a limitless engine defensively, but still needs some work on his distribution/passing. He'll get put through the wringer there in Germany.
He apparently did something good recently, this weekend they released a special “hero” card of him in FIFA Ultimate Team
