Another fun fact, both should have been eligible for the US but their family never put them on a citizenship track while they lived in Dallas
He’s played in youth tournaments or friendlies but not an official cap tying match (Nations League, Gold Cup, WCQ, WC, etc)
gio starting for bvb against bologna on espn3 at 11am est also, another 21 year old germerican cb by the name of lennard maloney starts for bvb as well (most likely just a filler for preseason matches, he’ll probably play for the u23s this year if i had to guess) https://www.transfermarkt.us/lennard-maloney/profil/spieler/392710
So, if GGG stays with the 4-3-3 for the final, what’s the strategy up top? I imagine Gyasi starts, but with the way Dike was clearly favoring his injury, can you put him back out there. Who would be the third striker option?
Backs up my impression that Vines was actually solid in the second half. He's been sloppy at times on ball but I like him
it won't happen, but this also jives with Lletget being the odd man out imo if Williamson were to start
was thinking about it this morning.... based purely on consistency and performance alone, not considering GGG's man crushes, these are the players from the Gold Cup that should 100% be on the final WC qualifying roster. Turner, Robinson, Acosta and Zimmerman (assuming hes healthy) of course there will be others from the roster that make it... i'm just not all-in on some of them like I am the ones listed above. Thoughts?
I think I agree with those guys except not 100% sure I’d say both Zimmerman and Robinson depending on how many CBs. Along with the Zimmerman health you mentioned, I guess it depends on form of those 2, McKenzie and Richards.
i keep forgetting about Richards (out of sight out of mind). yea... we're definitely not bringing 5 CBs in. its certainly a good problem to have... 5 solid CB options. each have their own strengths/weaknesses, but they all fit well next to Brooks. Acosta has a position locked up, imo. I have zero fucking clue what we're going to do at Striker
epb may have a say as well moving to a top 5 league pretty sure italy only allows 3 transfers per team of non italian passport carriers per window, so if venezia is using one of those on epb, i’d expect him to play a big part this season (same goes for tessman as well) imo i believe busio has an italian passport, so he wouldn’t count against that number
That was the whole point of this tournament, to find out who was gonna round out the squad for WCC. I agree with most of what you got up there. Don’t know if Zimmerman will be back in time.
for certain... i was referring more to the depth pieces. I guess Pefok will probably get the call up too.
EPB was good not great in Austria so I’d temper expectations on him Granted that doesn’t rule out being an option for us as it’s still pretty wide open with CBs
