Came across this, and know it's in the Tottenham thread, but why not both? Hell, it could also go to the Youth Prospects thread as well. Just in case you've not seen it yet.... http://cartilagefreecaptain.sbnatio...cameron-carter-vickers-under-armor-commercial
I don't understand how Jones isn't even being considered in all these USMNT player of the year pieces. I like Leander, but you're really considering Yedlin? really? http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/socce...le-player-of-the-year-nominees-205826055.html
Would love to see how she would go about fixing things that already aren't being done. Besides the generic focus on the youth programs shit.
I mean...that is only one player. And more of a name than a contributor. But that said I don't know how you measure youth program success after only a couple years unless you really don't see progress there. Abby herself would be a really good youth program ambassador though.
improvements in the youth system wont be seen for 10-15+ years, its not like stringing together a few recruiting classes.

Diskerud and Donovan with responses to Wambach: http://www.si.com/planet-futbol/201...ign-players-landon-donovan-mix-diskerud-usmnt Diskerud's reply was really well-done.
at Donovan acting like the foreign-born players don't care about the World Cup. They grew up with the same fucking dreams as you, Landon, and in cultures that care way more about soccer than ours
No wonder Jurgen left him off the roster Spoiler I still would have included him over fuck face Wondo
I don't see the problem with what he said. Obviously you'd feel better about winning the world cup with more American raised players than European raised players.
I probably would but I'd rather be better with players from all over than worse with only players who grew up in America
let's not act like this is some desperate attempt at legitimacy by the US. this is a very common thing in international soccer. Germany does it all the time. Spain did it with Costa. I can't even keep track of where half the players in Eastern Europe were actually born.
I think Donovan is trying to convey that a national team should reflect a country's soccer program. The more foreign based players you have the less the team represents American soccer, which is ultimately what international soccer is about. It doesn't help that Donovan is still salty about being left off the WC roster for a german teen. The other country examples aren't great since Germany and Soccer rely on foreign talent very minimally and the Eastern European phenomenon is due in large part to a war. They also have a way stronger cultural tie to their national team than a German teen growing up in Germany without his American dad. For the record, I don't think your foreign talent pool is in anyway a bad thing or unfair, as you guys have lost some good American raised players who decided to not play for the US.
I think there's more satisfaction in saying we developed all our players, but I wouldn't have been cheering any harder had Besler scored instead of Brooks against Ghana because Besler was born and raised here. We've also lost Rossi and Subotic, who spent many years here. And we lost Diego Fagundez because his parents never bothered to become naturalized. We'll gain some and lose some.
Omar showed up to the Pachucha press conference in full Darth Vader suit http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2015/...referral&utm_content=News&utm_campaign=Unpaid
Saw rumors that Trapp, Tony Tchani and Ethan Finlay (about time) are getting called into the January camp
Jordan Morris turning pro and likely signing with the Sounders. I wonder what kind of options (if any) he had in Europe.
Jordan Morris going to train with Werder Bremen (Aron Jo's club) http://www.werder.de/de/profis/news/57530.php
U.S. Roster by Position: GOALKEEPERS (2): Bill Hamid (D.C. United), Luis Robles (New York Red Bulls) DEFENDERS (7): Kellyn Acosta (FC Dallas), Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), Matt Miazga (New York Red Bulls), Eric Miller (Montreal Impact), Tim Parker (Vancouver Whitecaps FC), Marc Pelosi (San Jose Earthquakes), Matt Polster (Chicago Fire) MIDFIELDERS (8): Fatai Alashe (San Jose Earthquakes), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC), Mix Diskerud (New York City FC), Jermaine Jones (Unattached), Darlington Nagbe (Portland Timbers), Lee Nguyen (New England Revolution), Tony Tchani (Columbus Crew SC), Wil Trapp (Columbus Crew SC) FORWARDS (6): Jozy Altidore (Toronto FC), Ethan Finlay (Columbus Crew SC), Jerome Kiesewetter (VfB Stuttgart), Jordan Morris (Unattached), Khiry Shelton (New York City FC), Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy)
Also hoping Nagbe sticks around, sounds like he looked good in his first camp and he really turned it on the backend of the MLS season when he was moved to midfield. I'm the weirdo that got into soccer thanks the MLS, but its fun as hell rooting for a guy on the team I cheer for playing for the country I care for. Going to be rocking his jersey next world cup hopefully.
Pretty pleased with that roster. Acosta and Polster aren't really defenders, better at CM but there's much more experience ahead of them there.
Bedoya scored the winning goal for Nantes earlier this week and he scored again today. He's been playing like a man possessed for the past month.
Hopefully he doesn't go to too big of a club right now, and he's been linked with a lot of the big EPL clubs Taylor Twellman @TaylorTwellman Hearing within the next 24 hours Matt Miazga will be sold to an EPL club pending medical within the next day or 2. #RBNY #MLS
Thinking its Leicester. Swansea was high on him in the summer but not looking for a cb at that moment.
Chelsea Jeff Carlisle @JeffreyCarlisle Matt Miazga set to join EPL side Chelsea: http://es.pn/1KFaABC #RBNY #usmnt bet he gets loaned out from there
On Tuesday, multiple sources told ESPN FC that Miazga was set to be sold to an undisclosed Premier League team. The Daily Mail reported that the transfer fee is approximately $5 million. Miazga also possesses a Polish passport, meaning he will not have to obtain a work permit.
Chelsea eh....Not sure how to feel about that. Obviously a great club but he wont be getting first team work of course.
Reus is apparently out for Dortmund tomorrow, so possibly a chance Pulisic sees some minutes. Match starts at 9:30am est on FS2.
