Pretty cool seeing how well Yedlin, Brooks, and Wood have been playing in Europe this year- especially considering they're all real good friends.
Could teach these other money grabbing losers a thing or two about international success and challenging themselves.
CHICAGO (March 7, 2017) – The U.S. Men’s National Team will begin its quest for a sixth regional title when they open Group B action of the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup against Panama on Saturday, July 8 at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn. Following the opening match, the U.S. will go on to play Martinique on Wednesday, July 12, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. Three days later, it will wrap up group play against either Haiti or Nicaragua on Saturday, July 15, at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. For ticket information, visit GoldCup.org.
I wish the USMNT would pick like 3 locations and stick with it. Why not put our qualifiers where we get the best environments? Hell I'd be ok with every game we play being in Columbus.
I'm sure playing games in Jacksonville and Tampa's unfilled NFL stadiums are huge to the growth of the sport in America.
I didn't say huge, but yes it is important to bring the game to different places across the country. you can't just play all the games in Ohio.
I get that playing all in Ohio isn't the answer, and I was just saying that to say it. I'm just over USSF putting games in regions where there's not that much support. I get that we want to grow the brand/sport, but the team going and playing one game in a location isn't going to change how people view the sport, in my opinion.
I'd personally rather play our home competitive matches in front of big, pro USMNT crowds(Tired of playing Honduras in America and there being more Hondurans). Use the friendlies to tour the nation drawing in new fans.
Oh I know. I just get tired of being outnumbered by Hondurans in Chicago. Rather use our home games to play in front of clearly pro US crowds.
Normally I'd agree, but Rafa just made the comment in a post game presser. Maybe it's not a long term injury, but it's an injury.
The last Hex they played in Denver/Seattle/C-Bus/Salt Lake/KC and the US had a "home field" advantage in all of them. The Salt Lake crowd was the worst of the 5 if memory serves. They improved selection in 2013 over the previous cycle (Chicago/Nashville/RFK) in my opinion. Will be interesting to see how the crowd is at Avaya.
Good point. I honestly hadn't looked into it too much. I just remember growing up and we continually saw games in places that made no sense. Appreciate you bringing some facts in here lol
I see your comment about Chicago and agree. That seemed like a money grab by the US. Hopefully those days are over.
Would like to see a game in Orlando with the new stadium. Supporter's section would be amazing there.
no shot. my wife is due in June so I won't be making any road trips this summer. I'm just going to hope the US plays in one of the quarterfinals in Philly.
