imo -Almost always fine to get an away point, so no reason to get upset. -Pulisic manufactured another goal when we couldn't get much going offensively all night. -Ream is bad. The play late in the 2nd half when he could have easily ran up and won the ball when panama took too heavy of a touch and instead sat back and let the guy run dangerously into the box was particularly shitty. -Bradley wasn't completely awful tonight but it's crazy how much less solid he is now than he used to be. Usually is good for fucking up 2 or 3 simple passes a game lately. -Clint is still a really strong finisher and isn't a bad option when he now has Pulisic to play off of. That said, I will be so happy when Bobby is back.
About the last 2 points. There's so many times throughout the games that Bradley looks flat out lazy. I have to give props, his run in stoppage time to help out Ream was incredible and flashes back to pre-WC Bradley. But he's always looking for the way lazy pass. He's always a step behind from where he usually is. It's just not good. And the Bradley-Jones pairing just hasn't cut it. Those two should of been keeping the ball and pressure off that backline but they weren't controlling the mid at all. Clint was in the right time at the right place. One of those traits you can't define but he has it. But his touch was shit tonight. I can recall 3 times he had the ball played to him unmarked at the top of the 18 and it bounced off his foot. Jozy didn't seem to have the legs tonight. And the spacing in the attack was just shit. This seems to be a mainstay with Clint next to Jozy. We have attackers running into each other left and right. I would really like to see how creative we could be if we went with a mid combo of Bradley(Jones) Kljestan Fabs Pulisic and Jozy Bobby up top.
Would have liked the win but given the other results an away tie is pretty good. Panama loses valuable home points and can't gain on the US. T&T lost to Mexico keeping T&T further behind the US and Mexico doesnt drop any dumb points. Honduras ties Costa Rica, Honduras doesn't gain on the US and loses valuable home points. CR also doesn't get further ahead of the US.
to be fair to Bradley and Jones, they were routinely outnumbered in the midfield. it's hard to control the game when that happens. ultimately, one of Jozy or Dempsey should have been dropping deep to help them out a little more often.
Gold cup schedule is set. Panama, Martinique, Nicaragua in our group. Hopefully we're in a spot where we can get guys like Hyndman and Arriola some good run.
Zimmerman and Acosta being scouted by Euro clubs. http://www.bigdsoccer.com/2017/3/27/15081164/fc-dallas-vs-pachuca-scouts-stuggart-ajax
it warms my heart to see the veterans embrace him the way they have (Dempsey had huge praise for him as well). sometimes the guys who have been around a while will get a little bit bitter towards the young phenom coming in and taking all the attention. it probably says a lot for the way Pulisic carries himself around them as well.
Pulisic also earned the respect on the field by playing well both for club and country. Not like Julian Green who was just handed a spot over better players based on nothing.
Same. After Clint scored the goal against Panama he popped up immediately and ran over to CP, pointing and barking at him. Also after CP set him up against Honduras for his second he grabs his shoulders and can't stop smiling like he's just thinking "Holy shit it's awesome to play with this kid."
Also apparently he's real tight with Cameron. (Can't think of a better guy to stick close to as a new guy) The story about Cameron leaning a bucket of water against his hotel door makes me chuckle.
* The USMNT will play their next home World Cup qualifier at DSG Park in Commerce City, Colorado just outside Denver. AO ticketing details will come Wednesday. NOTE: This match will NOT be a lottery, but first-come-first-serve to members. * We await confirmation of whether the USMNT will play in Mexico City or elsewhere in Mexico for their away June qualifier. No #AOAway package can be announced until we know this and secure tickets from the Mexican Federation.
Gracias sir. If anyone is a member and would like to help me out with buying tickets, would be appreciated.
That's what I thought too, but I have a friend who is in the know who told me to hold off on flights. We still think it's Azteca but just in case I'll be getting four again, we can talk
Where would they choose beyond Azteca? I didn't realize that they would ever possibly choose to not play there
I heard on a podcast that the Mexican national team has been complaining because so many play over seas and the altitude and smog are just as hard on them as the visitors.
I read they might have to choose a different venue to avoid punishment from Fifa for the puto chant. But their fans do it in every city, I don't know how that would help.
Monterrey has a new stadium as well. And Monterrey might have the most passionate fans in Mexico between Tigres and CF Monterrey.
Medium sized stadium and gets them into New England market. Gillette Stadium is too big, if the Revolution ever build an SSS I imagine that becomes their go to in New England.
I'm sure Pulisic will be thankful for that too. Hoffenheim are one point up on them for the 3rd spot in the bundesliga/champions league.
