Feels like this will be relevant and worth keeping out of other threads. No idea about reality but pre-vote polls showed Maduro down 20 iirc.
Reuters is reporting that https://www.reuters.com/world/ameri...arged-election-amid-fraud-worries-2024-07-28/
Feel like the regional players plus the US basically saying it was rigged shows they have rock hard evidence of legit funny business. If there is broad agreement on Maduro cheating stuff that's legit pressure.
Entirely possible I missed it but nothing from Brazil, come on Lula Argentina, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama, Peru, Dominican Republic and CHILE is over, THEY DO NOT RECOGNIZE NICOLAS MADURO AS A WINNER
America has such a strange hardon for Venezuela to the point I don’t really trust any American media outlets to be able to release accurate information without the State Department meddling in some fashion.
It would be hilarious if Milei were a Rush Limbaugh style radio personality but with none of his die hard fans knowing what he looks like. I don’t think they’d take it very well.
Same song and dance from five years ago. Everyone will denounce it and it will eventually lose steam. Maduro will buckle down and post through it. Dudes the Venezuelan Castro. He’s never going away.
I feel bad for Venezuelans. It’s either Maduro or a pathetic US puppet like the CIA tried to do with Juan Guaidó. Both are awful choices.
Lots of Venezuelan migration to Colombia on the Bogota news stations last night. I think Colombia is pretty receptive to them.
Colombians don’t want Venezuelans there. Increasing crime rates, they are willing to work for less than the minimum salary and prostitution.
Migrants in another country that could get themselves and their families booted out of a safe place to live by the most minor infraction actually tend to be rather well behaved.
Not true at all. Ask any Colombian or Peruvian or practically any South American country, there’s been a huge distain for Venezuelans for close to a decade now. Veneco is an offensive term Colombians came up with to refer to Venezuelans to put things into context. Venezuelans are constantly calling Colombians xenophobic.
Don’t worry Steamy. We’re Americans. We can vilify anyone no matter how meek and innocent they are in reality.
Gaetz must be planning on a Senate run pandering to Florida’s Venezuelan/Cuban exile people who might be the most annoying voting blocks in the country.
I couldn’t pick a better guy to be put in charge of dealing with the Depression Era aftermath Cowboy Ron’s terrible policies.
A ton of Venezuelans have moved to the football powerhouse suburb of Katy (home of Andy Dalton and whatever Alabama’s current qb’s name is, and it is now not so affectionately referred to as Katyzuela.
Maduro sucks so bad that Gonzalez didn’t even pick up steam until a few months ago and still likely won. Not that it matters because they won’t recognize it
Remember that time the Trump admin deployed a group of private mercenaries to stage a coup their and pretended another guy was president for a bit? Fun times.
I don’t know about how Venezuela’s elections are conducted or if there was rampant fraud in this one, but the wild ass pro-Russia propaganda in that tweet make me skeptical about the rest of the information contained within it.
Maduro calling that Argentinian libertarian freak a pussy and threatening to beat his ass was pretty funny
Maduro is an oil money oligarch asshole who (almost 100% cheated to get elected), and it'll probably be a mess for the people to get rid of him... ...but ironically, I'm pretty sure it's going to take something similar for Argentinians to get rid of Milei, once that whacko libertarian runs their economy into the ground.
From Reddit: “ The military and police are letting the protesters proceed it seems, this might be the writing on the wall for Maduro with some luck: Edit: Regional Police appear to be doing the same in some places: Also the Bolivarian National Guard: “
