Ori and the Blind Forest was an awesome Metroidvania style game. It's ridiculously charming.

That's about as helpful as I can be as I don't often find games that aren't lewd, offensive, or violent in some aspect.

I guess Kingdom Hearts would be awesome if you can get your hands on a copy?

I'll fourth the Lego games. I started my son with Lego Batman 2 and he loves them. Marvel Super Heroes may be the best one for depth of roster and a great open world environment.

If you're looking for an online experience for him Rocket League could be a great outlet.

Allows him to develop skill and is totally safe for kids. The community is about as welcoming as any and voice communication isn't required at all so you won't have to worry about him being berated.

    What BlazingRebel said -
Highly recommend all Ratchet games, Rayman Legends is awesome too.

Are you wanting to play with him? Rayman Legends and Ratchet and Clank: All-4-One are designed as couch co-op games and they are a blast to play together.

My son is 9 and that's what we are playing now. Ratchet is on PS3 but Rayman is PS4, depending on what you have.

And yeah, all the LEGO games are fantastic.

Don't know how keen your kid is on Rpgs, but Child of Light is a nice little one that they may enjoy. It isn't too difficult I'd like to think and I'm playing on the hardest available setting. The Puzzles aren't headscratchers and it might lead 'em towards rpgs like Super Mario Rpg did for me back as a wee one. Heck, even if they don't play it or get bored half way through, if you're into rpgs definitely give it a go.

Castle Crashers never fails to amuse either, especially if you've more than one kid waiting for a turn to play.

Half Knight is really into the Angry Birds RPG so I'm thinking of trying one on PlayStation. A friend recommended Kingdom Hearts, I never played it but I know it is generally well loved. Wishing I had kept my copy of Ni No too, will probably get it on digital again

Thanks. Going to go with Batman 3 next.

Still fuck that Silver Surfer race though. An adult should be able to beat every single obstacle in the game.

I have no problem with x going up, o going down, it just doesn't fly fast enough. Its like when you're on the ground and your guy walks instead of runs. I just don't get it. Have every character unlocked but Stan Lee (have like 41 of 50) and Silver Surfer who I can't even get close to beating.

ok, i've been doing my Christmas shopping for Half Knight.

First, LEGO Force Awakens is supposed to be the best LEGO game in a while, he's getting that for his birthday in February.

Second, he is on a big Minecraft kick lately, and i'm trying to get him going on RPG's (he loved the Angry Birds RPG for ipad) so I got him Dragon Quest Builders, combo of JRPG and Minecraft, seems very cool.

Thinking he might like LBP 3 too, so if he doesn't get that for Christmas from someone else, i will likely get that too.

He's 8 and has started earning an allowance + cash for other duties. This game incentives him to work so he can buy this stupid shit. Trying to turn lemons into lemonade

Rayman Legends is great, easy to pick up and play since they probably won't be there long enough to get into something like KH.
And there are girl characters they can unlock that they should like too.

Reporting back, Half Knight fucking loves Dragon Quest Builders, played it almost all weekend. The only thing that has somewhat gotten him away from Rayman Legends (he is now on about his seventh playthrough of that one, trying to get all 700 "Teensies").

Perfect blend of RPG and Minecraft, exactly what i was hoping it would be. Highly recommended.

Half Knight got Minecraft and Minecraft Story Mode for PS4, he loves them both, especially Story Mode.
He's been playing the hell out of DQ Builders and he just got back to LEGO Force Awakens yesterday to beat the story levels.

So many good games, and we still haven't even started on Ratchet and Clank for PS4.

Lego Dimensions has been a huge hit with my 5 and 7 year old. Some of the puzzles are hard to figure out and they've been better at some of them than me.

Downside is it's expensive because they always want new level and fun packs.

    PS3 or PS4.

I was thinking Marvel Ultimate Alliance, which I have on the PS3 already.
