It was really good until the ending. That was one of the most bizarre things I've seen in a tv show... definitely made me
also, who the fuck was that blonde at his birthday party? good lord. really hard to steal a scene from olivia wilde but I think she did
Apparently during filming he would ad lib lines to mention an identical twin brother to give himself cover if he got killed off.
I thought it was pretty meh. Ending was odd. Thought he was tripping but instead that actually happened. Woof.
Was actually pretty disappointed. Thought it tried to hard. One of those shows that seemed to be right on the cusp of being good, but there was just something missing. Gonna stick with it, hope it gets better.
Gotta finish it though I wasn't initially impressed with what I've seen. I had forgotten it was 2 hours long and fell asleep about an hour in.
Was hoping for more - so hopefully it picks up as it goes along. I did download the soundtrack, and essentially every song on the soundtrack was played in the first episode, which was kind of odd to me. Sturgill Simpson doing the theme song is dope though.
Joe AdalianVerified account@TVMoJoe So: The two-hour premiere of HBO's VINYL averaged 764,000 viewers and a 0.2 A18-49 same-day rating. Joe Adalian @TVMoJoe 5h5 hours ago Also telling: #LastWeekTonight, which followed #Vinyl, averaged 1M viewers at 11 p.m.
the song in the concert they did was so fucking terrible. i get that it was probably intended to be that way all rookie garage band shit. but it was tough to watch. didn't make it through the whole thing but probably will just let this one run it's course and if everyone says the season is worth watching I'll binge
Definitely felt some Mad Men parallels going on there. The self-destructive genius savant that worked his way up from nothing. The young female who is initially ignored because of her position in the company, but who actually has a keen eye and sharp wit that is noticed by the self-destructive genius. Also, Ray Romano is clearly the comic relief of Roger Sterling.
Can't wait until the Bobby Cannavale character drives through the city and discovers dubstep and EDM in 1974
thought the second episode was better felt like they kinda rushed into his self destructive behavior, would have liked it better if they just focused on the record industry at the beginning
cannvale is a prolific over-actor imo, but still interested in this. god that yes-man is insufferable
I'm not sure what I think of this show yet. The blues artist character intrigues me and I want to see Olivia's tits.
Loving it. Cannavale is awesome as usual. Only part I'm not digging is the Juno Temple/Nasty Bits stuff but that's headed somewhere interesting no doubt. Boardwalk Empire is my favorite show of all time so I'm not surprised this is awesome on most levels.
I am really enjoying it. It's Terrence Winter so you know the writing is going to be good. It definitely has the Sopranos/Boardwalk vibe. You know you are going to get great characters. I can see why some would be annoyed with Bobby Carnavale, but I think you need to realize that the 70's was such an excessive era. As much as it may seem like he is overacting, I think he is doing a great job of being interesting and excessive but in appropriate way.
Well I've always been into music so of course I liked it. Fairly wide range of music covered in the 1st 2 episodes. Man does he come out fired up in episode 2.
I find this murder subplot totally annoying. Was hoping to see A&R dickbag eviscerated somehow and blamed for the band sucking. The Alice Cooper thing was great. And enjoyed the Kool Herc scene.
Absolutely hated the pilot but these last two episodes rebounded big time. That scene where lester plays his guitar and it takes him to what could have been was fantastic.
I really like it and still have no questions as to whether it will be awesome. As an aside, my dad has been friends with Shep Gordon since before Alice Cooper. I highly recommend the Shep Gordon documentary done by Mike Myers. It's called Supermensch. Very entertaining and informative.
I really don't get it either. It's a random distraction that distracts from the main plot of the show
It's the main reason he's using again and continues to do so, which is impacting all the decisions he's making at home and with the business
It seems early to say that anything is distracting especially since we don't fully understand the plot yet. The murder thing seems like a major part of the story that needs to be embraced and is a main catalyst for a lot of the actions of the show so far. It's not a minor subplot.
That's true, I probably worded it wrong. I just don't like it. They're also starting to incorporate it more now that he's being somewhat blackmailed
Yea... It's not like I don't understand it. It makes him vulnerable and to a large degree ties him to very undesirable partners. But it still bugs me and I wish they had a different vehicle to drive everything.
