Grew up with a kid who asked a retired sister of mercy if she knew Mike Hunt in like 5th grade. He got a nice little suspension from school
It's amazing. Instead of just firing Pruitt, they have almost certainly gotten themselves in NCAA trouble on purpose, made their job less attractive, and did all that so they could pay UCF a ton of money to hire Danny White and Heupel.
Cornelius Suttree went to school with a guy named Harry Kuntz. He's a sports anchor in Kansas City now. https://twitter.com/HaroldRKuntz3
pruitt isn’t going to go down quietly though and they will likely still have to pay him a decent chunk. They would have been better off giving him an extra year at this point and just burying the allegations when they were made.
I am not sure if he would leave for UCF, has 20 of 22 starters back and they just upped his contract to one million a year. All things considered, he is in a good spot to have continued success and still be the "hot, up and coming" coach.
but next year he could have much bigger/better paying jobs than UCF Especially if he has a loaded roster again
I understand that, but he also has to figure that its going to take at least 3 years to get the kind of players and experience he needs for his offense. I am not sure if he is risking the lack of success for a payday. If he has another double digit win total next year, he would get a job better than UCF.
He is spread option- midline, veer, belly, freeze, counter, etc. But what sets him apart is that he also is able to have and execute spread passing concepts/RPOs, which no option style team has ever done before. He created it himself. It is truly a unique offense that no one else runs and is very hard to stop. If he is outmatched, he will slow the game down and use every bit of clock to give him a chance to win like BYU this year.
One of the most annoying things about Heupel is EVERY CLOSE game we played we lost. We never got blown out before the BYU game but if it was a close game you knew we were going to lose.
Pete Thamel googling every assistant at a big name program or up and coming coach at P5 school so that he can vomit names into a tweet about UCF potential candidates.
I wouldn't want to root for Herman as my team's coach, but he's a better coach than a lot of the names brought up for Tennessee, and he's probably a better coach than UCF will get.
Tennessee is a mess behind the scenes w boosters and admin. Has devastating sanctions looming. Did you really expect them to be able to attract a better coach? Huepel is probably as good as they can get in these circumstances. That’s not a compliment either
They should have just let Steele audition for the job for a year. When he fails, which he would have because everyone would/will, you open it up when there are more options and the program is experiencing less upheaval. If he somehow wins (which, again, he wouldn’t), you know he’s your guy. edit: got Jake Scotted.
